Chain-of-thought distillation is a powerful technique for transferring reasoning abilities from large language models (LLMs) to smaller student models. Previous methods typically require the student to mimic the step-by-step rationale produced by LLMs, often facing the following challenges: (i) Tokens within a rationale vary in significance, and treating them equally may fail to accurately mimic keypoint tokens, leading to reasoning errors. (ii) They usually distill knowledge by consistently predicting all the steps in a rationale, which falls short in distinguishing the learning order of step generation. This diverges from the human cognitive progression of starting with easy tasks and advancing to harder ones, resulting in sub-optimal outcomes. To this end, we propose a unified framework, called KPOD, to address these issues. Specifically, we propose a token weighting module utilizing mask learning to encourage accurate mimicry of keypoint tokens by the student during distillation. Besides, we develop an in-rationale progressive distillation strategy, starting with training the student to generate the final reasoning steps and gradually extending to cover the entire rationale. To accomplish this, a weighted token generation loss is proposed to assess step reasoning difficulty, and a value function is devised to schedule the progressive distillation by considering both step difficulty and question diversity. Extensive experiments on four reasoning benchmarks illustrate our KPOD outperforms previous methods by a large margin. Copyright 2024 by the author(s)

An improved algorithm is proposed for the omission and re-detection problems in the point cloud object detection method CenterPoint. The algorithm firstly adds Focal sparse convolution module to the feature extraction network to increase the proportion of important information in the features;then redefines the generation function of the detection head heatmap, and the supervisory signal generated by the elliptical Gaussian kernel is more closely matched to the real shape of the object to inhibit the generation of negative samples;finally, the overall regression of the bounding box information is applied to the training, so that the back propagation loss gain of the single dimensional information is regulated by the associated information. The improved algorithm is trained and evaluated on the KITTI 3D object detection dataset, and the overall mean Average Precision (mAP) is improved by 3.29% compared with the base model CenterPoint. The experimental results show that the improved algorithm effectively suppresses the redetection and omission problems of CenterPoint. © 2024 IEEE.

Spatiotemporal deformation analysis of glaciers and surrounding landscapes in the Shishapangma region using InSAR techniques

Glacier dynamics in the Himalayan midlatitudes,particularly in regions like the Shishapangma,are not yet fully understood,especially the localized topographic and climatic impacts on glacier *** study analyzes the spatiotemporal characteristics of glacier surface deformation in the Shishapangma region using the Small Baseline Subset(SBAS)Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(In SAR)*** analysis reveals an average deformation rate of-4.02±17.65 mm/yr across the entire study area,with glacier regions exhibiting significantly higher rates of uplift(16.87±13.20 mm/yr)and subsidence(20.11±14.55 mm/yr)compared to non-glacier *** identifies significant surface lowering on the mountain flanks and localized uplift in certain catchments,emphasizing the higher deformation rates in glacial areas compared to non-glacial *** found a strong positive correlation between temperature and cumulative deformation(correlation coefficient of 0.63),particularly in glacier areas(0.82).The research highlights the role of temperature as the primary driver of glacier wastage,particularly at lower elevations,with strong correlations found between temperature and cumulative *** also indicates the complex interactions between topographic features,notably,slope gradient,which shows a positive correlation with subsidence rates,especially for slopes below 35°.South-,southwest-,and west-facing slopes exhibit significant uplift,while north-,northeast-,and east-facing slopes predominantly ***,we identified transition zones between debris-covered glaciers and clean ice as areas of most intense deformation,with average rates exceeding 30 mm/yr,highlighting these as potential high-risk zones for *** study comprehensively analyzes the deformation characteristics in both glacier and non-glacier areas in the Shishapangma region,revealing the complex interplay of topographic,climatic,and hydrological factors influencing glacier dynamic

The influence of surface conditions on the corrosion behavior of engineering structures has been paid more ***,there is still a lack of systematic research on the effect of cutting parameters on material’s microstructure and performance in *** this paper,the effect of cutting parameters on microstructure and corrosion behaviors of 304 stainless steel in simulated primary water is well *** results show that different cutting parameters can cause the superficial layer a gradient microstructure with nanocrystalized layer on top and deformation band structures *** the similar surface roughness,the deformation microstructure can be very different due to the different cutting *** effect degree on the depth of deformation zone is feed rate>cutting depth>cutting *** larger feed rate,lower cutting depth,lower cutting rate may induce a deeper deformation *** the increasing depth away from the machined surface,the localized corrosion rate is decreased,and at the same depth the localized corrosion rate along the deformation bands is higher than that along the grain boundaries(GBs).The nanocrystalized surface has a smallest general corrosion rate due to the quick formation of Cr rich oxide ***,once the corrosion penetrates through this nanocrystalized layer,subsequent preferential corrosion at deformation bands and GBs will dominate and may lead to the significant increase of corrosion rate of the component in high temperature pressurized water.

The practical application of aqueous zinc-ion batteries(AZIBs)is primarily constrained by issues such as corrosion,zinc dendrite formation,and the hydrogen evolution reaction occurring at the zinc metal *** overcome these challenges,strategies for optimizing the electrolyte are crucial for enhancing the stability of the zinc *** by the role of hemoglobin in blood cells,which facilitates oxygen transport during human respiration,an innovative inorganic colloidal electrolyte has been developed:calcium silicate-ZnSO_(4)(denoted as CS-ZSO).This electrolyte operates in weak acidic environment and releases calcium ions,which participate in homotopic substitution with zinc ions,while the solvation environment of hydrated zinc ions in the electrolyte is *** reduced energy barrier for the transfer of zinc ions and the energy barrier for the desolvation of hydrated ions imply faster ion transfer kinetics and accelerated desolvation processes,thus favoring the mass transfer ***,the silicate colloidal particles act as lubricants,improving the transfer of zinc ***,these factors contribute to the more uniform concentration of zinc ions at the electrode/electrolyte interface,effectively inhibiting zinc dendrite formation and reducing by-product *** Zn//CS-ZSO//Zn symmetric cell demonstrates stable operation for over 5000 h at 1 mA cm^(-2),representing 29-fold improvement compared to the Zn//ZSO//Zn symmetric cell,which lasts only 170 ***,the Zn//CS-ZSO//Cu asymmetric cell shows stable average Coulombic efficiency(CE)exceeding 99.6%over2400 cycles,significantly surpassing the performance of the ZSO *** modification strategy for electrolytes not only addresses key limitations associated with zinc anodes but also provides valuable insights into stabilizing anodes for the advancement of high-performance aqueous zinc-ion energy storage systems.

Accurately determining the quadrupole deformation parameters of atomic nuclei is crucial for understanding their structural and dynamic *** study introduces an innovative approach that combines transfer learning techniques with neural networks to predict the quadrupole deformation parameters of even-even *** the application of this innovative technique,the quadrupole deformation parameters of 2331 even-even nuclei are successfully predicted within the nuclear region defined by proton numbers 8≤Z≤134 and neutron numbers N≥***,we discuss the impact of nuclear quadrupole deformation parameters on the capture cross-sections in heavy-ion fusion reactions,reconstructing the capture cross-sections for the reactions ^(48)Ca+^(244)Pu and ^(48)Ca+^(248)*** research offers new insights into the application of neural networks in nuclear physics and highlights the potential of merging advanced machine learning techniques with both theoretical and experimental data,particularly in fields where experimental data are limited.

Stomata play critical roles in gas exchange and immunity to *** many genes regulating early stomatal development up to the production of young guard cells(GCs)have been identified in Arabidopsis,much less is known about how young GCs develop into mature functional *** we perform a maturomics study on stomata,with“maturomics”defined as omics analysis of the maturation process of a tissue or *** develop an integrative scheme to analyze three public stomata-related single-cell RNAseq datasets and identify a list of 586 genes that are specifically up-regulated in all three datasets during stomatal maturation and function *** list,termed sc_586,is enriched with known regulators of stomatal maturation and *** validate the reliability of the dataset,we selected two candidate G2-like transcription factor genes,MYS1 and MYS2,to investigate their roles in *** two genes redundantly regulate the size and hoop rigidity of mature GCs,and the mys1 mys2 double mutants cause mature GCs with severe defects in regulating their stomatal *** together,our results provide a valuable list of genes for studying GC maturation and function formation.
