Review of spatial scale dispersion models (ATDMs) to simulate environmental dispersion and deposition of radionuclides and the overview of GIS coupling with dispersion models

Estimation of the radiological consequences including the calculation of radiation doses to the exposed population requires numerical evaluation of atmospheric radioactive releases from nuclear facilities under accidental scenarios for implementation of adequate protective and other response actions to prevent or minimize severe deterministic effects and reduce the probability of occurrence of stochastic effects. This paper reviews various state-of-the-art spatial scale atmospheric dispersion models, known as the ATDMs, designed to evaluate atmospheric transport, dispersion, and depositions of radionuclide emissions from release sources. The ATDMs (atmospheric transport, dispersion, and deposition models) reviewed in this paper are FLEXPART, CALPUFF, LADAS, RASCAL, RIMPUFF, and HotSpot. These ATDMs are increasingly applied to perform probabilistic radiological risk assessment, which is one of the IAEA safety requirements for site evaluation of new NPP, and the calculated doses can be used to establish EPZs, an underlying basis of emergency preparedness. The numerical approaches, modeling methodology, advantages, limitations, scope of applications, and research investigations performed using these models in radiological and other environmental impact assessments within their scope of applications are presented. GIS has been widely recognized as a technique applied to aid the modeling of pollutant dispersion and visualization of model outputs in a spatial context, among other benefits. In nuclear accident consequence evaluation, spatial data provides key information such as accident location, range of radiological contamination, population density, etc, which are very important. This demonstrates the high significance of GIS-ATDMs coupling. Therefore, an overview of the coupling of dispersion models with GIS is also highlighted. © 2025 Xi'an Jiaotong University

Aluminum is the primary structural material in nuclear engineering,and its cross section induced by 14-MeV neutrons is of great *** address the issue of insufficient accuracy for the^(27)Al(n,2n)^(26)Al reaction cross section,the activation method and accelerator mass spectrometry(AMS)technique were used to determine the^(27)Al(n,2n)^(26)Al cross section,which could be used as a D-T plasma ion temperature monitor in fusion *** the China Academy of Engineering Physics,neutron activation was performed using a K-400 neutron generator produced by the T(d,n)4He ***^(26)Al∕^(27)Al isotope ratios were measured using the newly installed GYIG 1 MV AMS at the Institute of Geochemistry,Chinese Academy of *** neutron flux was monitored by measuring the activity of 92mNb produced by the 93Nb(n,2n)92mNb *** measured results were compared with available data in the experimental nuclear reaction database,and the measured values showed a reasonable degree of consistency with partially available literature *** newly acquired cross-sectional data at 12 neutron energy points through systematic measurements clarified the divergence,which has two different growth trends from the existing experimental *** obtained results are also compared with the corresponding evaluated database,and the newly calculated excitation functions with TALYS−1.95 and EMPIRE−3.2 codes,the agreement with CENDL−3.2,TENDL-2021 and EMPIRE−3.2 results are generally acceptable.A substantial improvement in the knowledge of the^(27)Al(n,2n)^(26)Al reaction excitation function was obtained in the present work,which will lay the foundation for the diagnosis of the fusion ion temperature,testing of the nuclear physics model,evaluation of nuclear data,etc.

Woodpecker: hallucination correction for multimodal large language models

Hallucinations is a big shadow hanging over the rapidly evolving multimodal large language models(MLLMs), referring to that the generated text is inconsistent with the image content. To mitigate hallucinations, existing studies mainly resort to an instruction-tuning manner that requires retraining the models with specific data. In this paper, we pave a different way, introducing a training-free method named Woodpecker. Like woodpeckers heal trees, it picks out and corrects hallucinations from the generated text. Concretely, Woodpecker consists of five stages: key concept extraction, question formulation, visual knowledge validation, visual claim generation, and hallucination correction. Implemented in a post-remedy manner, Woodpecker can easily serve different MLLMs, while being interpretable by accessing intermediate outputs of the five stages. We evaluate Woodpecker both quantitatively and qualitatively and show the huge potential of this new paradigm. On the POPE benchmark, our method obtains a 30.66%/24.33% improvement in accuracy over the baseline MiniGPT-4/mPLUG-Owl. The source code is released at https://***/BradyFU/Woodpecker.

Einocchio: Efficiently Outsourcing Polynomial Computation with Verifiable Computation and Optimized Newton Interpolation

Cloud computing, as a promising service platform, has gained significant popularity in addressing emerging data privacy issues in applications such as machine learning and data mining. Researchers have proposed the verifiable computing that allows the cloud users to delegate their computation tasks to the cloud server. Then, the cloud server computes the cryptographic proofs that verify the correctness of the results, a process that is generally faster ompared to local manual computation. However, performing computation tasks or verifying the correctness of encrypted data, such as multivariate polynomial functions, remains a significant challenge. To solve this problem, we propose Einocchio: A verifiable computation scheme that combines the efficient Pinocchio system with homomorphic encryption, which allows the public verification of the computational results on the server side while ensuring data confidentiality and the results. Compared with the existing solutions, Einocchio does not reveal the client's input. Furthermore, we extrapolate Einocchio by optimizing the Pinocchio's quadratic arithmetic program component using a differential optimization method, which reduces the computational workload owing to the conversion from quadratic to linear complexity, thereby increasing the efficiency of the quadratic arithmetic program preprocessing stage. Security analysis demonstrates that Einocchio achieves IND-CPA security. Finally, the performance evaluation confirmed its effectiveness and suitability for cloud computing environments. Compared to the corresponding scheme based on Newton interpolation, Einocchio achieves a threefold greater computational efficiency, with the generation of interpolation polynomials for 50 data inputs occurring in a mere 0.31 ms, while simultaneously reducing the number of computations. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

PLC-MDT: A Framework for Detecting Anomalies With Digital Twins of Industrial Control Systems

The attack events (such as the Stuxnet and BlackEnergy) that targeted the industrial control system (ICS) have validated its vulnerability to cyber intrusions. The prevention of ICS from cyberattacks is undoubtedly important and practical as it operates dangerous equipment and produces products that people need. Traditional anomaly detection methods, which rely heavily on SCADA data, are often unreliable due to the limitation of such data in accurately reflecting real-time system states under attacks. Therefore, we propose PLC-MDT, a novel anomaly detection method based on digital twins (DTs), exploiting the modern communication technology and computing resources of ICS. PLC-MDT does not depend solely on SCADA data;instead, it leverages the interaction between DT and real-world ICS, utilizing both DT and field-site data to perform anomaly detection. Specifically, for PLC-MDT, the prediction model in DT is trained based on historical data, and the predicted values are used as input to the mechanism model in DT to generate simulated data. The networked structure of ICS guarantees real-time data collected from field sites for DT. Therefore, PLC-MDT detects attacks by monitoring the difference between the predicted and real-time data, revealing control channel corruption when the difference exceeds a threshold. The effectiveness of PLC-MDT is demonstrated through experiments on real-world systems, showing its potential for real-time detection of anomalies in ICS. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Towards Adapting CLIP for Gaze Object Prediction

This paper aims to investigate the problem of gaze object prediction in single images. We propose an application-friendly network based on CLIP for gaze object prediction. To avoid domain bias, we utilize a shallow feature adapter that transfers pre-trained features to target-oriented ones. Secondly, we introduce a pooling attention block to exploit the joint representation of multimodal elements, reducing gaze point deviation. Additionally, we introduce a loss that measures the prediction quality by comparing the distribution difference between the model's predictions heatmaps and the ground truth. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superior performance of our model compared to previous models.
