Engineering MoC/Mo 2 C heterojunction to reconstruct metastable MoC (200) plane for enhanced alkaline hydrogen evolution

The development of high-performance non-precious metal-based heterostructures is of great significance for advancing large-scale commercial water electrolysis. Herein, we demonstrate a temperature-induced phase transition strategy of tuning MoC to Mo 2 C to synthesize MoC/Mo 2 C heterojunctions supported on nitrogen-doped carbon spheres, denoted as MoC/Mo 2 C@NC, for efficient alkaline hydrogen evolution (HER). The intrinsic HER mechanism of the catalyst was analyzed by both comprehensive characterization and density functional theoretical calculations. It is found that the construction of the MoC/Mo 2 C heterojunction stabilizes the originally unstable MoC (200) plane, converting it to a metastable state, thereby greatly lowering the reaction energy barrier of the catalyst. The nitrogen-doped carbon substrate not only enhances the dispersion and structural stability but also promotes electron transfer. Moreover, the flower-like architecture provides abundant active sites and facilitates hydrogen desorption kinetics. Benefiting from these synergistic effects, the optimized MoC/Mo 2 C@NC catalyst delivers excellent electrocatalytic performance, achieving a low overpotential (η 10 = 101 mV), which surpasses most reported non-precious metal-based catalysts in alkaline environment.

According to the idea of "Emerging Engineering Education" talent training model of Ministry of Education, students should be trained to have "metaphysical" concept, connection, imagination, macro thinking. Project-driven experiment teaching focuses on a project, and the goal is the completion of the project; the student is the center of teaching activities, which is supported by the inquiry process. This study analyzes the significance of the project-driven method in experimental teaching. This paper describes the implementation process of experimental teaching in the field of energy and power engineering in terms of project design, teaching system construction and so on under the project-driven method. By analyzing the results of a questionnaire survey distributed to students of energy and power in the College of Mechanical Engineering at the Tianjin University of technology, it is found that the students are satisfied with the effects of project-driven experimental teaching, and the use of experimental teaching has greatly aroused the students' enthusiasm for learning. The ability of the students to engage in autonomous learning, engineering practice and innovation has been greatly improved, and a good teaching effect has been achieved.

Non-reciprocity of energy transfer derived from cubic stiffness-induced nonlinear phenomena

Introducing purely nonlinear elastic elements can induce rich dynamic behaviors, such as bifurcations, jumps and isolated resonance curves, to linear systems. Therefore, these elements are suitable for constructing strong non-reciprocity of vibration energy transfer. First, the energy transfer along reciprocal directions in a three-degree-of-freedom system is investigated, where three oscillators are connected by cubic springs. The semi-analytical solutions of the system are obtained using the complexification-averaging method and the least squares method. The results are compared against numerical solutions obtained by the Runge-Kutta method. The excitation amplitude range that produces strong non-reciprocity of vibration energy is analyzed. The jump phenomenon under combined excitation is investigated, and a trigger method for constructing non-reciprocity using an impulse is proposed. Then, an oscillator chain with cubic stiffness and scaling parameters is embedded into a multi-degree-of-freedom linear oscillator system to further explore the effect of cubic stiffness. Energy transfer along two directions is compared by exciting the leftmost oscillator and the rightmost oscillator. Moreover, the trigger effect of the impulse on non-reciprocity is demonstrated. The results show significant differences in vibration energy transfer within three distinct frequency bands. The critical points between reciprocal and non-reciprocal states are obtained, and the three stages of reciprocity related to excitation amplitude are analyzed. Lastly, the modulation effect of the cubic stiffness on non-reciprocity is conducted by comparing the energy of the output oscillator. © 2025 The Authors

In this paper, using electrodeposition technology to load ultra-low Ru onto FeCo-MOF/NF prepared by hydrothermal method. The Ru–FeCo-MOF/NF exhibits a porous morphology with numerous voids. Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) elemental mapping and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) results confirmed that ultra-low amount of Ru was successfully doped into Ru–FeCo-MOF/NF. Benefiting from ultra-low Ru doping, small charge-transfer resistance and best reaction kinetics, the Ru–FeCo-MOF/NF exhibits small overpotential of 98 mV toward hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and 77.5 mV toward methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) at current density of 10 mA cm −2 in potassium hydroxide (1 M) with methanol (5 M) solution. Based on excellent MOR and HER activity, Ru–FeCo-MOF/NF as a bifunctional catalyst has important application prospects in the field of hydrogen production by electrolysis of water.

Effects of Geometric Parameters on Performance of Rectangular Submerged Inlet for Aircraft

To improve the comfortability and safety of aircraft,the demand of rectangular submerged inlets(RSIs)with low resistance is proposed to increase the inlet flow rate of ram air. A theoretical model is built to numerically analyze the effects of geometric parameters on the inlet mass flow rate of RSIs. The geometric parameters in question here encompass the aspect ratio of 2—4,the ramp angle of 6°—7°,the characteristic parameter of the throat of 0.20 —0.30,the ramp length of 939—1 337 mm,and the cone angle of 0° —3°. Simulation results demonstrate that the mass flow rate(MFR)is positively correlated with the aspect ratio,ramp angle,ramp length,and cone angle,and negatively correlated with characteristic parameter of the throat. Within the range of the geometric parameters considered,the RSI with the aspect ratio of 3,the ramp angle of 6°,the characteristic parameter of the throat of 0.20,the ramp length of 1 337 mm,and the cone angle of 3° obtains the largest MFR value of about 2.251 kg/s.

Chlorophyll is a critical indicator of marine primary productivity and is essential in assessing aquatic ecosystem health. To address the limitations of current prediction models regarding accuracy, mobility, and reliability, this study proposes a novel Transformer-LSTM-KOA model for Chlorophyll prediction. Leveraging remote sensing data from the South China Sea, the model synergistically integrates Transformer's global analytical capabilities via self-attention and multi-head attention mechanisms with LSTM's proficiency in capturing long-term dependencies through gated mechanisms. The Kepler Optimization Algorithm (KOA) is subsequently employed to systematically optimize both global and local model parameters, thereby enhancing adaptability and robustness across diverse prediction datasets. Experimental results demonstrate superior performance with MSE and MAE values of 0.00011 and 0.00685, respectively, outperforming benchmark models. This enhanced modeling framework provides crucial technical support for marine ecological forecasting and early warning systems.

The traditional finite element method has the advantages of strong versatility and high calculation accuracy. Thus it is widely applied in various numerical simulation problems. Although the traditional finite element method for solving the shaft-hole assembly problem can obtain better solution accuracy, the process of modeling and calculation take a long time and thus cannot meet the engineering application requirements when the equilibrium position after the assembly needs to be obtained quickly to guide the subsequent process. In this paper, an iterative method based on the spring contact model is proposed. Firstly, the actual form error of the shaft and hole is characterized by the Fourier series expansion method;Then, in the contact surface, we established a discrete spring contact model and obtained the equivalent stiffness of the coupling spring through the discrete solid model. The balance iterative calculation based on the form errors and contact deformation force can finally determine the equilibrium position after the assembly. Compared with the calculation results of the finite element model, the equilibrium position of the shaft-hole assembly can be quickly solved under the condition of sacrificing certain precision. From this aspect it can be estimated that this method has a good potential for engineering application. © 2020 The Author(s).

CHF plays an important role in the heat transfer process during the external reactor vessel cooling (IVR-ERVC) which is deemed as a very effective way to release the decay heat after the core melted. In this paper, the experiment of the macro-fin structure experiment positioned on slope that is declined at angles of 5°and 10°was done. The results of the copper bar experiment were then analyzed and compared with the results obtained from a copper block experiment that had been conducted previously at the same test facility, and it was found that the CHF decreased. Finally, the hot/dry spot theory for the copper bar was brought up in an attempt to explain the difference of copper and copper bar. It seemed that using this theory can explain the decrease of CHF for copper bar. Copyright © 2018-2019 by JSME

Interfacial area concentration is one of the most critical parameters in two-phase flow and reflects the interfacial area of mass, momentum and energy transfer. The prediction of interfacial area concentration is also essential to close the interfacial transfer terms in the two-fluid model. The calculation of interfacial area concentration has been well developed from bubbly flow to churn flow, including interfacial area correlations and two-group interfacial area transport equation. While seldom researchers focus on that for annular flow or annular mist flow. This paper proposed the one-dimensional interfacial area correlation for annular flow in vertical pipes based on the averaged liquid film thickness model for annular flow. The effects of the droplets in pipes were also considered in the model. The new model has been evaluated against the existing experimental data. The results indicate that the new model can provide the excellent prediction of the interfacial area concentration for annular flow in vertical pipes. Copyright © 2018-2019 by JSME
