The Mpox virus(MPXV)has emerged as a formidable orthopoxvirus,posing an immense challenge to global public *** understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of MPXV infection,replication and immune evasion will benefit the development of novel antiviral *** the involvement of G-quadruplexes(G4s)in modulating the infection and replication processes of multiple viruses,their roles in the MPXV life cycle remain largely ***,we found a highly conservative and stable G4 in MPXV that acts as a positive regulatory element for viral immunodominant protein ***,by screening 42 optically pure chiral metal complexes,we identified the A enantiomer of a pair of chiral helical compounds that can selectively target mRNA G4 and enhance expression of the 39-kDa core protein encoded by the MPXV A5L ***,RNA G4-specific helicase DHX36 inhibits A5L protein expression by unwinding *** contrast,MH3 A enhanced mRNA stability by specifically targeting G4 structures and subsequently increased protein ***,given the pivotal role of the 39-kDa core protein in activating immune responses and facilitating virion maturation,modulation of MPXV G4 folding by MH3 A exhibited inhibitory effects on MPXV replication through enhancing the immune *** findings underscore the critical involvement of G4 in the MPXV life cycle and offer potential avenues for developing antiviral drugs that target G4.

A brain-computer interface (BCI) enables direct communication between the brain and an external device. Electroencephalogram (EEG) is the preferred input signal in non-invasive BCIs, due to its convenience and low cost. EEG-based BCIs have been successfully used in many applications, such as neurological rehabilitation, text input, games, and so on. However, EEG signals inherently carry rich personal information, necessitating privacy protection. This paper demonstrates that multiple types of private information (user identity, gender, and BCI-experience) can be easily inferred from EEG data, imposing a serious privacy threat to BCIs, To address this issue, we design perturbations to convert the original EEG data into privacy-protected EEG data, which conceal the private information while maintaining the primary BCI task performance. Experimental results demonstrated that the privacy-protected EEG data can significantly reduce the classification accuracy of user identity, gender and BCI-experience, but almost do not affect at all the classification accuracy of the primary BCI task, enabling user privacy protection in EEG-based BCIs. © 2024 IEEE.

Training machine learning models in virtual environments often fails to generalize effectively to real-world applications. The discrepancy between simulated and real environments results in suboptimal performance of the learned models. Various approaches have been proposed to address this"simulation-to-reality gap," including refining training images within simulations or randomizing virtual environments to narrow the disparity. A CycleGAN model is used to convert simulated images into real ones for correction, but this method remains task-agnostic and does not preserve task-specific information, which can negatively affect task performance. Critical features, particularly those directly related to the task, may be lost during translation, which can compromise task success. To address this issue, conditional information is introduced during the image transformation process to ensure that task-relevant features, such as location data, are retained. This method makes the transformation task-aware rather than task-agnostic. Additionally, skip connections are implemented to mitigate blurring in the generated images. The proposed method has been trained on a custom dataset from a laboratory environment and validated on a robotic arm. This approach significantly improves the accuracy of image conversion tasks and enhances the efficiency of sim-to-real image translation. © 2024 IEEE.

Non-intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) represents a cost-efficient technological advancement in meticulously monitoring electricity consumption patterns. However, external noise interference in practical load identification poses challenges for accurate monitoring. To address this, a multi-task learning framework is proposed, concurrently tackling load identification and signal de-noising. To extract effective information from load signals, a novel feature representation called variational mode decomposition-instantaneous amplitude (VMD-IA) was introduced. To ensure optimal performance across the different tasks, a multi-gate mixture of expert architecture (MMOE) module is integrated into the proposed model. The proposed approach was evaluated on a self-collected load dataset, as well as public NILM datasets. The experimental results indicate that the proposed model outperforms state-of-the-art methods in all tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

The autonomous mission planning problem of space targets tracking with multi-satellite is studied in this paper. For effective evaluation of different candidate tracking resource combinations, a tracking performance evaluation model based on GDOP is proposed firstly, then a tracking priorities evaluation model for maneuverable dynamic targets is designed to autonomous evaluate and update the planning priorities during the tracking. To solve the problem of conflict resolution of tracking resources scheduling, the reinforcement learning algorithm is applied, considering of restricted computation resources onboard. A pointer network is utilized as the strategy model, with the tracking targets and corresponding priorities, the tracking performance evaluation of each potential candidate tracking resources combinations as input tensors, and the tracking tasks allocation of multi-satellites will be inferenced by the network accordingly. The actor-critic reinforcement learning algorithm is selected for training. It is shown that the algorithm proposed can formulate better planning strategies than the heuristic method, which reduces the mean tracking error by 21% during the whole tracking process. © 2023 IEEE.

Almost blank subframe (ABS) is a classic and efficient technology to cancel interference in cellular networks and could be applied in future networks such as ultra-density network. However, the existence of ABS will result in the deterioration of the communication capacity of the macro base station (BS), particularly for applications with large number of edge users. To solve this problem, an improved ABS technology with an interference cancelation scheme is proposed. For the considered scenario, the macro BS and the micro BS work in a cooperative manner, where the signal transmitted by the macro BS interferes with the communication between the micro BS and its edge terminals. At the terminal side, both the nonlinearity of the macro BS transmitter and the propagation model between the edge user and the macro BS are estimated using neural networks (NNs), which are then sent to the micro BS for interference elimination through the ABS. At the micro BS side, firstly, the nonlinearity and channel parameters from the ABS frame are used to generate a cancelation signal. Secondly, the cancelation signal is sent from the micro BS to the edge user to eliminate the disturbance from the macro BS. This enhanced technology can alleviate the disturbance for the edge user. Meanwhile, since it massively decreases the occupancy of ABS in the macro BS, the capacity of the macro cell can be improved. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

This study introduces an innovative approach for gesture recognition in smart wearable devices using a deep domain adaptation model, focusing on the challenges posed by heterogeneous user environments and the need for precise, adaptable, and personalized gesture recognition systems. Traditional methods based on machine learning and deep learning techniques, while effective, struggle with the variance in data distribution among different users, leading to accuracy challenges. To address this, the study proposes the Domain Kernel-Alignment Adaptation Network (DKAN) model, utilizing a new Kernel-Aligned Multi-kernel Maximum Mean Discrepancy (KAMMD) method within deep networks. By calculating kernel alignments between source and target domains and adjusting weights of Gaussian kernels accordingly, DKAN emphasizes features conducive to transfer learning, enabling more accurate cross-user gesture recognition. The model achieves a significant average accuracy of 97.3% across 21 gestures, highlighting its potential in practical applications. This advancement addresses challenges in traditional gesture recognition methods and sets a new direction for future research in smart wearable technology. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

A multi-target synchronous measurement method is proposed for the vibration measurement problem of large flexible structures. Select the appropriate system hardware according to the actual measurement requirements, and the binocular camera is used to acquire the image sequence of multiple points during the vibration process. An innovative method is proposed that combines feature point matching and Maximum Intersection over Union is proposed to achieve one-to-one mapping between multiple points. The vibration information of the flexible structure is obtained by image processing and three-dimensional coordinate calculation. Compared with the results obtained by the Optitrack motion capture system. Measures vibration with a frequency of 3Hz, the relative errors of most measurements are within 5%, which meets the requirements of most vibration measurements. © 2024 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging based on compressed sensing (CS) theory can recover complete information from limited ISAR echo signals and reduce the imaging cost of ISAR. The traditional Smooth L0 norm (SL0) algorithm can effectively solve the problem of ISAR signal recovery in the case of high SNR. However, there are usually strong noise and clutter in radar imaging, which greatly reduces the quality of ISAR signal recovery. On the basis of the traditional SL0 algorithm, this paper introduces the dictionary optimization process and proposes the dictionary optimization SL0 algorithm (DO-SL0). By optimizing the dictionary to adapt to the characteristics of the target signal, the performance of signal recovery is improved, the quality of sparse signal recovery under low SNR environment is improved while the cost is controlled, and the ISAR imaging results are effectively improved. In this paper, image entropy (ENT) is used to evaluate and compare ISAR images in low SNR environments using DO-SL0, SL0 and OMP methods respectively. Numerical experiment results show that under the same test conditions, the image entropy of sparse restored ISAR images using DO-SL0 method is lower than that of the other two methods, which verifies that the new algorithm can obtain higher quality restored signals in low SNR environment. © 2024 IEEE.

Based on population and logical operation, a binary logical operation algorithm is proposed to solve the 0-1 programming problem. Introduce the uniform initialization operator to improve the survival rate and diversity of the population and avoid premature death;Introduce logical operations and construct the model of retention probability and decay coefficient, and intro-duce dynamic update operators to adaptively balance the ability of exploration and exploitation. In order to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm, the convergence of the algorithm is analyzed based on the martingale method, and the classical 0-1 knapsack problem public data set is selected and divided into two groups of experimental data sets of different sizes. The BLOA algorithm is compared with genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization algorithm, binary flying eagle algorithm and other algorithms. The experimental results show that the time cost of the BLOA algorithm is reduced by 90.36%, and the average accuracy of the solution is improved by 15.59%. Finally, through the ablation experiment, the effectiveness of the uniform initialization operator generation algorithm and the dynamic adjustment update operator strategy designed by BLOA is verified. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).
