Objective We examined the associations between various healthful dietary patterns and likelihood of healthy aging in Chinese adults. Methods We used data from the Singapore Chinese Health Study of 14,158 men and women who were aged 45-74 years at baseline(1993-1998) and re-interviewed at follow-up 3(2014-2016), about 20 years later. Diet quality at baseline was assessed according to the alternate Mediterranean diet(aMED), the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension(DASH) diet, the alternative Healthy Eating Index (AHEI)-2010, overall plant-based diet index(PDI) and healthful plant-based diet index(hPDI). Healthy aging was defined as having no history of major chronic diseases, good physical function and mental health, no limitations in instrumental activities of daily living, and no impairment in cognitive function during followup 3 visit. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models were applied to estimate odd ratios(ORs) and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) for the association between dietary patterns and healthy aging. Results At the follow-up 3 visit, 2,854(20.16%) participants met the criteria of healthy aging. The OR(95% CI) for healthy aging comparing the highest with the lowest quartile of diet quality scores was 1.37(1.21-1.55) for aMED, 1.50(1.32-1.71) for DASH, 1.43(1.26-1.61) for AHEI-2010, 1.25(1.09-1.42) for PDI, and 1.28(1.12-1.46) for hPDI(all p values for trend <0.001). Each standard deviation increment in different diet quality scores was associated with 10%-17% higher likelihood of healthy aging. Conclusions These results provide evidence that adherence to healthy dietary patterns in midlife is associated with a higher likelihood of healthy aging in late life.

As for a pipe-line system subjected to complex operations, an approach is proposed to synthesize the controller via Petri nets (PNs) such that the plant is run as concurrently as possible and the loads of equipments are balanced. A P-timed and labeled PN is designed to model the whole process of a pipe-line system, where tasks, including transporting material from one tank to another and cleaning tank, are represented by operational places, and level sensors amounted in tanks are represented by labels assigned to transitions. Further, monitor places are designed to resolve the conflict relations among tasks due to the shared valves and pipes. An method is presented to translate an PN controller into a CIF3 (Compositional Interchange Format) model, which can be converted into a PLC program in the CIF3 tool. A beer filtration plant is taken as an example to illustrate the approach, and its simulation experiments are carried out to verify the theoretic results.

Multi-task learning (MTL) is an important subject in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Its applications to computer vision, signal processing, and speech recognition are ubiquitous. Although this subject has attracted considerable attention recently, the performance and robustness of the existing models to different tasks have not been well balanced. This article proposes an MTL model based on the architecture of the variational information bottleneck (VIB), which can provide a more effective latent representation of the input features for the downstream tasks. Extensive observations on three public data sets under adversarial attacks show that the proposed model is competitive to the state-of-the-art algorithms concerning the prediction accuracy. Experimental results suggest that combining the VIB and the task-dependent uncertainties is a very effective way to abstract valid information from the input features for accomplishing multiple tasks. © 2020, CC BY.

Nowadays, with the increasing number of protein sequences all over the world, more and more people are paying their attention to predicting protein subcellular location. Since wet experiment is costly and time-consuming, the automatic computational methods are urgent. In this paper, we propose a variant model based on Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM) to predict protein subcellular location. In this model, we employ LSTM to capture long distance dependency features of the sequence data. Moreover, we adjust the loss function of the loss layer to solve multi-label classification problem. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared with the traditional machine learning methods, our method achieves the best performance in various evaluation metrics.

Deduplication is an effective technique to optimize storage utilization in data centers and cloud storage systems. It splits data into chunks and then identifies whether chunks are unique or not. Fixed-size chunking (FSC) is widely used in deduplication, which defines the chunk boundary with a fixed interval of bytes. Although it is simple and efficient, FSC may cause boundary shift issue, which usually decreases deduplication rate. Content-defined chunking (CDC) has been proposed to solve this problem. However, there are two challenges to apply CDC in deduplication for network block storage. One challenge is how to establish a mapping scheme between the stream offsets of a deduplicated chunk and its block address; the other challenge is to design an efficient index structure to organize metadata of data chunks on the disk. In this paper, we design two structures to solve the mapping problem and implement two backends to store metadata on network block storage devices, which are based on B+ trees and hash table, respectively. In order to achieve a better search performance on the disk, we reduce the size of the hash table and shrink the lookup range. We evaluate our schemes by real-world workloads. The experimental results show that our schemes have an excellent search performance at an acceptable cost of spatial sacrifice.

A fine-grained perspective on the robustness of global cargo ship transportation networks

The robustness of cargo ship transportation networks is essential to the stability of the world trade system. The current research mainly focuses on the coarse-grained, holistic cargo ship transportation network while ignoring the structural diversity of different sub-networks. In this paper, we evaluate the robustness of the global cargo ship transportation network based on the most recent Automatic Identification system（AIS） data available. First, we subdivide three typical cargo ship transportation networks（i.e., oil tanker, container ship and bulk carrier） from the original cargo ship transportation network. Then, we design statistical indices based on complex network theory and employ four attack strategies, including random attack and three intentional attacks（i.e., degree-based attack, betweenness-based attack and flux-based attack） to evaluate the robustness of the three typical cargo ship transportation networks. Finally, we compare the integrity of the remaining ports of the network when a small proportion of ports lose their function. The results show that 1） compared with the holistic cargo ship transportation network, the fine-grain-based cargo ship transportation networks can fully reflect the pattern and process of global cargo transportation; 2） different cargo ship networks behave heterogeneously in terms of their robustness, with the container network being the weakest and the bulk carrier network being the strongest; and 3） small-scale intentional attacks may have significant influence on the integrity of the container network but a minor impact on the bulk carrier and oil tanker transportation networks. This paper aims at developing a clustering approach with spectral images directly from CASSI compressive measurements. The proposed clustering method first assumes that compressed measurements lie in the union of multiple low-dimensional subspaces. Therefore, sparse subspace clustering (SSC) is an unsupervised method that assigns compressed measurements to their respective subspaces. In addition, a 3D spatial regularizer is added into the SSC problem, thus taking full advantages of the spatial information contained in spectral images. The performance of the proposed spectral image clustering approach is improved by taking optimal CASSI measurements obtained when optimal coded apertures are used in CASSI system. With the development of ordering platform, an increasing number of people are paying their attention to design a suitable recommender system. Most of the traditional recommender systems are based on the abundant rating information of users. However, Only historical order data can be provided to the recommender system in ordering platform as training data. This paper proposes an improved Collaborative Filtering algorithm based on historical order data of restaurants. The recommender system includes two parts: 1) rule generation module, we define a new method for measuring the similarity between dishes. Furthermore, we incorporate an incremental learning method in this module. 2) recommendation module, we design user interest vector and propose a noise filtering method. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can effectively improve the performance of recommendation in terms of the accuracy and coverage ratio. Moreover, our recommender system has been successfully put into service.

By constructing a list of IF-THEN rules, the traditional ant colony optimization(ACO) has been successfully applied on data classification with not only a promising accuracy but also a user comprehensibility. However, as the collected data to be classified usually contain large volumes and redundant features, it is challenging to further improve the classification accuracy and meanwhile reduce the computational time for *** paper proposes a novel hybrid mutual information based ant colony algorithm(mrAM+) for classification. First, a maximum relevance minimum redundancy feature selection method is used to select the most informative and discriminative attributes in a dataset. Then, we use the enhanced ACO classifier(i.e., AM+)to perform the classification. Experimental results show that the proposed mrAM+ outperforms other seven state-of-art related classification algorithms in terms of accuracy and the size of model.
