Kinetic Monte Carlo(KMC) algorithm has been widely applied for simulation of radiation damage, grain growth and chemical reactions. To simulate at a large temporal and spatial scale, domain decomposition is commonly used to parallelize the KMC algorithm. However, through experimental analysis, we find that the communication overhead is the main bottleneck which affects the overall performance and limits the scalability of parallel KMC algorithm on large-scale clusters. To alleviate the above problems, we present a communication aggrega‐tion approach to reduce the total number of messages and eliminate the commu‐nication redundancy, and further utilize neighborhood collective operations to optimize the communication scheduling. Experimental results show that the opti‐mized KMC algorithm exhibits better performance and scalability compared with the well-known open-source library—SPPARKS. On 32-node Xeon E5-2680 cluster(total 640 cores), the optimized algorithm reduces the total execution time by 16 %, reduces the communication time by 50 % on average, and achieves 24 times speedup over the single node(20 cores) execution.

A network security situation assessment model based on T-S fuzzy neural network was proposed in this paper. In the model the whole situation of the network has four child situations: threat situation, fragile situation, stable situation and disaster situation. Then the threat situation assessment was taken as an example to describe T-S fuzzy neural network modeling and learning algorithm in detail. Finally, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) was used to decide the relative weight of each child situation. After fusing the results of the four child situations, we could get the whole situation of the network. It proves that the method is feasible and effective by building a simulation attack experiment. The situation assessment method in this paper not only fully considers the situational factors of network but also evaluates the network situation reasonably. © 2015 by Binary Information Press

In this paper, the synchronization problem for linearly coupled complex networks is investigated, which is denoted by ordinary differential equations with complex-values. The coupling topology can be asymmetric, and the time delay also exists in the network model. By pinning some external aperiodically intermittent control on the network nodes, we will prove that under some conditions, the complete synchronization will be finally realized exponentially. Moreover, applying the adaptive technique on the coupling strength, we will also present an adaptive rule, whose validity is rigorously proved. Finally, some numerical simulations will be given to illustrate the correctness of these obtained results.

Small target detection is a critical problem in the Infrared Search And Track (IRST) system. Although it has been studied for years, there are some challenges remained, e.g. cloud edges and horizontal lines are likely to cause false alarms. This paper proposes a novel method using an optimization-based filter to detect infrared small target in heavy clutter. First, we design a certain pixel area as active area. Second, a weighted quadratic cost function is performed in the active area. Finally, a filter based on statistics of active area is derived from the cost function. Our method could preserve heterogeneous area, meanwhile, remove target region. Experimental results show our method achieves satisfied performance in heavy clutter. © 2015 IEEE.

Aiming at the defect that the current time dependent road network model cannot fully reflect the information of the road attribute, and considering that the road weights of traffic congestion factors should be based on the characterization of travel time and the impedance function model of average speed relations, we put forward the improved road network model which is based on the edge cost analysis;Then we propose the ant colony optimization algorithm of a new hierarchical restricted search area and the corresponding dynamic switching strategy for traffic jams, when the search level can be dynamically adjusted by the road capacity of traffic congestion, we can achieve the purpose of improving the quality of route planning and avoiding the congested road. Our simulation experiment uses the scheme of random allocation speed value by speed fitting function, and provides the multipopulation ant colony algorithm based on layered restricted searching area is significantly better than others.

Top-n recommendation technology has recently received a lot of attention in information service community. In this paper, we study the problem of top-n recommendation under the cloud data. Firstly, we propose a multilayer distributed storage architecture(MDSA)which can fit the need of top-n recommendation. Secondly, based on the consideration of reducing the cost of network transmission, we present the data encoding pattern which is based on the MDSA architecture. Lastly, we fast realize top-n recommendation using the map/reduce distributed programming model. For satisfying the realistic requirement, we further present three application variants of top-n recommendation. Massive experiments demonstrate that our approach is efficient and has high overall performance. ©, 2015, Chinese Institute of Electronics. All right reserved.

Pulsar positions can be measured with high precision using both pulsar timing methods and very-long-baseline interferometry (VLBI). Pulsar timing positions are referenced to a solar-system ephemeris, whereas VLBI positions are referenced to distant quasars. Here we compare pulsar positions from published VLBI measurements with those obtained from pulsar timing data from the Nanshan and Parkes radio telescopes in order to relate the two reference frames. We find that the timing positions differ significantly from the VLBI positions (and also differ between different ephemerides). A statistically significant change in the obliquity of the ecliptic of 2.16 ± 0.33 mas is found for the JPL ephemeris DE405, but no significant rotation is found in subsequent JPL ephemerides. The accuracy with which we can relate the two frames is limited by the current uncertainties in the VLBI reference source positions and in matching the pulsars to their reference source. Not only do the timing positions depend on the ephemeris used in computing them, but also different segments of the timing data lead to varying position estimates. These variations are mostly common to all ephemerides, but slight changes are seen at the 10µas level between ephemerides. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Outsourced data in cloud and computation results are not always trustworthy because data owners lack physical possession and control over the data as a result of virtualization, replication, and migration techniques. Protecting outsourced data from security threats has become a challenging and potentially formidable task in cloud computing; hence, many schemes have focused on ameliorating this problem and on enabling public auditability for cloud data storage security. These schemes drop into two categories: total computation cost and burden on client side. Researchers have used bilinear map technology with public key cryptography. Although this technology is highly efficient, computation time is long and overhead cost is high. The client needs to perform numerous computations to ensure the integrity of data storage. To reduce auditing cost, we propose an efficient and robust scheme to maintain data integrity in cases that involve public auditing. Our scheme adopts modern cipher cryptography with a cryptographic hash function. We consider allowing a third party auditor to preprocess data on behalf of cloud users before uploading them to cloud service providers and then verifying data integrity afterward. Our proposed scheme has important security characteristics, such as privacy, key management, low cost computation, key exchange, low overhead cost, no burden on client side, inability of cloud service providers to create correct verifier respond without data, and one-time key. Finally, efficiency analysis shows that our scheme is faster and more cost-efficient than the bilinear map-based scheme.

Background: In an era of shifting global agendas and expanded emphasis on non-communicable diseases and injuries along with communicable diseases, sound evidence on trends by cause at the national level is essential. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) provides a systematic scientific assessment of published, publicly available, and contributed data on incidence, prevalence, and mortality for a mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive list of diseases and injuries. Methods: GBD estimates incidence, prevalence, mortality, years of life lost (YLLs), years lived with disability (YLDs), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) due to 369 diseases and injuries, for two sexes, and for 204 countries and territories. Input data were extracted from censuses, household surveys, civil registration and vital statistics, disease registries, health service use, air pollution monitors, satellite imaging, disease notifications, and other sources. Cause-specific death rates and cause fractions were calculated using the Cause of Death Ensemble model and spatiotemporal Gaussian process regression. Cause-specific deaths were adjusted to match the total all-cause deaths calculated as part of the GBD population, fertility, and mortality estimates. Deaths were multiplied by standard life expectancy at each age to calculate YLLs. A Bayesian meta-regression modelling tool, DisMod-MR 2.1, was used to ensure consistency between incidence, prevalence, remission, excess mortality, and cause-specific mortality for most causes. Prevalence estimates were multiplied by disability weights for mutually exclusive sequelae of diseases and injuries to calculate YLDs. We considered results in the context of the Socio-demographic Index (SDI), a composite indicator of income per capita, years of schooling, and fertility rate in females younger than 25 years.
