Grid-forming control, as a key technology for building new power systems, enables inertia and damping characteristics of converters to actively support grid frequency and voltage. However, GFM-based converters are often required to generate short-circuit currents in excess of the rated value to support grid voltage recovery during transient faults, which poses a greater challenge to their electro-thermal stresses. At the same time, the over-issuance of short-circuit current will lead to the aggravation of junction temperature fluctuation, which will shorten the lifetime of the power devices and bring new challenges to their reliability. Based on the above problems, this paper firstly establishes a corresponding electrothermal coupling model for the GFM converter synchronized based on DC voltage. Subsequently, an active thermal control technique based on the adaptive adjustment of switching frequency is proposed, which can not only reduce the junction temperature of the power device under the same short-circuit current amplitude, but also further reduce the junction temperature fluctuation of the power device. Finally, the corresponding circuit as well as thermal circuit models are established by simulation software to verify the effectiveness of the strategy.

Spatiotemporal continuous estimates of daily 1-km PM2.5 from 2000 to present under the Tracking Air Pollution in China (TAP) framework

High spatial resolution PM2.5 data covering a long time period are urgently needed to support population exposure assessment and refined air quality management. In this study, we provided complete-coverage PM2.5 predictions with a 1-km spatial resolution from 2000 to the present under the Tracking Air Pollution in China (TAP, http://***/) framework. To support high spatial resolution modelling, we collected PM2.5 measurements from both national and local monitoring stations. To correctly reflect the temporal variations in land cover characteristics that affected the local variations in PM2.5, we constructed continuous annual geoinformation datasets, including the road maps and ensemble gridded population maps, in China from 2000 to 2021. We also examined various model structures and predictor combinations to balance the computational cost and model performance. The final model fused 10-km TAP PM2.5 predictions from our previous work, 1-km satellite aerosol optical depth retrievals and land use parameters with a random forest model. Our annual model had an out-of-bag R2 ranging between 0.80 and 0.84, and our hindcast model had a by-year cross-validation R2 of 0.76. This open-access 1-km resolution PM2.5 data product with complete coverage successfully revealed the local-scale spatial variations in PM2.5 and could benefit environmental studies and policy-making. © 2022, CC BY.

Aiming at the problem of low-frequency oscillation when photovoltaic power generation is connected to weak AC system, a linearization model of photovoltaic power generation is established, which ignores current inner loop and considers inertia control. The influence of various leading factors on low-frequency oscillation modes of photovoltaic power generation is analyzed. Finally, a low-frequency oscillation stabilizer (SSDC) is designed according to the phase compensation method to suppress the low-frequency oscillation of power system. The results show that the increase of input power of DC capacitor and the decrease of proportional control parameters of DC voltage loop and PLL will lead to the decrease of system damping and stability. Finally, the electromagnetic simulation model of weak AC system with photovoltaic power generation is built on PSCAD/EMTDC platform, which verifies the validity of eigenvalue analysis results and SSDC.

The phasor measurement unit (PMU) is widely employed in modern power systems, which enables real-time power system status monitor and risk identification. However, the bad data caused by PMU failure may mislead the risk identification. This paper proposes an efficient power system risk identification method considering PMU bad data. First, this paper describes the risk identification problem based on the analysis of the characteristics of PMU bad data and the power system contingency events. Then, the Teager-Kaiser energy operator with the 3Sigma criterion is proposed for the initial PMU anomaly data screening. Next, based on the difference between the bad data and the contingency events, the Pearson correlation coefficient is adopted for the calculation of the spatial similarity. Finally, a local outlier probability algorithm is presented to analyze the metrics. Case studies are carried out on IEEE 39 and IEEE 118 systems. Results demonstrate that the proposed method has an efficient risk identification accuracy with PMU abnormal data.

The power of photovoltaic power generation is affected by a variety of factors such as weather, radiation and temperature, exhibit a high degree of randomness and uncertainty. To address this problem, this paper proposes a ultra-short-term photovoltaic power prediction model based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and attention mechanism and bidirectional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM). Firstly, Pearson's correlation coefficient was used to filter out the meteorological factors which have significant influence on the historical power. Subsequently, in order to capture the spatial features of the input data, a convolutional neural network is utilized for feature extraction and an attention mechanism is introduced to strengthen the model's ability to discriminate key features. Meanwhile, the Bi-LSTM network is utilized to capture the temporal dependencies in the time series data, and finally the PV power prediction value is obtained. Finally, the validation is based on data from actual PV power plants, and the results show that the proposed Convolutional Neural Networks and attention mechanism (CA) and Bi-LSTM Ultra-short-term PV power prediction model outperforms the single model in terms of prediction accuracy, reflecting the effectiveness and superiority of the hybrid model.

Aiming at the problem of heavy overload in the distribution station area during the peak period of energy consumption caused by intermittent loads such as agricultural motor wells, the mobile energy storage technology is considered to meet the agricultural power demand, and a two-stage mobile energy storage vehicle pre configuration and dynamic adjustment strategy of "Rural busy power energization" and "rural idle distributed energy storage" is proposed, taking into account the guarantee of load power demand and the efficiency and economy of energy storage. Firstly, the mathematical model of agricultural motor well load considering the time shift characteristics and the mobile energy storage vehicle model considering the power supply time constraint are established; Secondly, a multi-stage mobile energy storage configuration and scheduling strategy is established. In the Rural busy power generation stage, the mobile energy storage vehicle capacity is configured with the minimum daily power supply cost as the goal, and the power supply path is optimized with the highest charge state consistency at the completion of power supply as the goal; At the stage of distributed energy storage in rural slack, the collaborative optimization of mobile energy storage vehicles participating in multi scenario power services is carried out with the goal of maximizing the annual net income. Finally, the proposed two-stage strategy has certain economic benefits under the premise of meeting the power demand of the load, which is verified by combining the power consumption data of wells in Jilin Province and IEEE 33 bus system simulation.

Aiming to address the stability challenges in power systems caused by the volatility and uncertainty of photovoltaic (PV) power generation, an optimization strategy for PV-storage systems incorporating demand response (DR) is proposed. Which is based on PV generation characteristics, Time-of-Use Pricing (TUP), and demand side flexibility. A multi-objective optimization model is established to balance the operational and environmental costs of PV-storage configuration. Building on dynamic adjustments at the demand side, a Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO) algorithm with dynamic inertia weighting is introduced to enhance global search capability for optimized energy storage (ES) configuration. In case study, two scenarios are designed to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model in reducing costs and improving PV utilization rates.

Integrated Planning of Charging Piles and Battery Swapping Stations Considering Spatiotemporal Distribution of Electric Vehicles

With the rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), more charging and battery swapping facilities are needed to meet growing demand. However, a single type of charging or swapping facility cannot simultaneously and efficiently satisfy the power supply requirements of diverse vehicle types. In order to solve this problem, a joint planning method of charging piles and charging-battery swapping stations (CBSSs) is proposed in this paper. In this method, the influence of geospatial constraints on the layout scale of charging piles is considered, and the Monte Carlo simulation method is used to predict the spatiotemporal distribution of charging and battery swapping demands of private electric vehicles (PEVs) and the battery swapping demands of taxi electric vehicles (TEVs) respectively. On this basis, the layout scale of charging piles of each functional area is determined during the maximum charging demand period in a day to meet the demands of PEVs for charging convenience. Then, an operating state model of CBSS is established for calculation of the objective function. At the same time, a planning model of CBSSs is established to minimize the annual social comprehensive cost, which takes into account the economy of CBSSs and the battery swapping convenience of EVs. The planning of CBSSs can meet the demands of TEVs and some PEVs for a rapid power supply. Finally, using the urban transportation network of Changchun and IEEE 33-node system as an example, the planning of charging piles and CCBSs in direct charging mode and peak shifting mode are simulated and analyzed. The simulation results show that the proposed method enables PEVs and TEVs to access convenient and rapid power supply, and the planning result of CBSSs in direct charging mode is more economical, while peak shifting mode is more conducive to the safe operation of distribution networks.

Ammonia (NH3) abatement remains controversial in China owing to its effectiveness in reducing PM2.5 pollution and nitrogen deposition but with the potential risk of promoting acid rain formation, necessitating scientific guidance. Here, we propose a novel method for designing an NH3 control strategy to mitigate both air pollution and nitrogen deposition without significantly exacerbating acid rain. This method involves extending the response surface model (RSM) to deposition using a delicately developed polynomial response function of deposition (i.e., dep-RSM). The Yangtze River Delta (YRD) dep-RSM application reveals that 16 out of 41 cities have NH3 control potentials from 15% to 71%. Excellent NH3 control potentials have been noted between April and June (78%–92%). From 2013 to 2017, the effective SO2 and NOx control significantly reduced wet sulfur and oxidized nitrogen deposition, providing considerable NH3 abatement potentials (15%–24%) to further reduce PM2.5 and nitrogen deposition by up to 2% and 9%, respectively, without acid rain exacerbation (the wet neutralization factor was maintained). Additionally, 57% and 73% NH3 emission reduction potentials were obtained under acid rain constraints with 75% and 86% reductions in the other precursors to reduce the average PM2.5 concentration below 25 and 15 µg/m3, and an additional 8408 and 14459 premature deaths could only be avoided at an extra cost of 8.7 and 19.7 billion CNY, respectively. Meanwhile, the N deposition considerably reduced by 10 and 13 kgN/ha·yr. However, the YRD region could still simultaneously obtain substantial amounts of PM2.5 and N deposition mitigation using the strategy proposed herein. The expanded optimization system can be directly adopted by policymakers to implement coordinated control in regions or countries facing the same NH3 control conundrum. © 2022, The Authors. This paper devotes to combine the chirp basis function transformation and symplectic coordinates transformation to yield a novel Wigner distribution (WD) associated with the linear canonical transform (LCT), named as the symplectic WD in the LCT domain (SWDL). It incorporates the merits of the symplectic WD (SWD) and the WD in the LCT domain (WDL), achieving stronger capability in the linear frequency-modulated (LFM) signal frequency rate feature extraction while maintaining the same level of computational complexity. Some essential properties of the SWDL are derived, including marginal distributions, energy conservations, unique reconstruction, Moyal formula, complex conjugate symmetry, time reversal symmetry, scaling property, time translation property, frequency modulation property, and time translation and frequency modulation property. Heisenberg’s uncertainty principles of the SWDL are formulated, giving rise to three kinds of lower bounds attainable respectively by Gaussian enveloped complex exponential signal, Gaussian signal and Gaussian enveloped chirp signal. The optimal symplectic matrices corresponding to the highest time-frequency resolution are generated by solving the lower bound optimization (minimization) problem. The time-frequency resolution of the SWDL is compared with those of the SWD and WDL to demonstrate its superiority in LFM signals time-frequency energy concentration.
