Security analysis and improvement of hsu et al.'s threshold proxy signature scheme

In 1999, Sun et al. proposed a new (t, n) threshold proxy signature scheme based on Zhang's threshold proxy signature scheme. But in 2003 Hsu et al. pointed out that Sun's scheme suffered from a drawback and demonstrated an improvement to counter it. In this paper we point out that Hsu's scheme suffers from an insider attack against their scheme. That is, a malicious proxy signer can forge a valid threshold proxy signature on any message. To thwart this attack, some improvements are further proposed.

A prediction method for assembly surface contact considering form error

Form error deflects the assembly surfaces and thus greatly affects the assembly accuracy of precision mechanical systems. Based on rigid motion, this paper proposes a prediction method for assembly surface contact considering form error to improve the simulation accuracy of virtual assembly. The method estimates the assembly equilibrium state by simulating the realistic behaviour of surfaces in assembly process: Firstly, one surface is fixed and the other is transferred along the assembly direction until the first contact occurs. Then, the other surface is rotated according the assembly force and the previous contact positions to successively reach the second and third contacts. The rotation operation is repeated until the assembly equilibrium conditions are finally met. Particularly, a space slicing algorithm is put forward to achieve faster calculation of the rotation information including rotation axis, rotation direction and rotation angle. This method can be applied in the field of assembly simulation and assembly verification. At the end of this paper, an assembly case of two rectangular plates is carried out to prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.

Medical diagnosing systems contain sensitive information, especially the resulting certificate of diagnosis that involves the patient’s privacy, required to be protected carefully. An effective way is to secretly embed privacy-sensitive information into medical-generated images, eventually being viewed as arbitrary images of nobody/nothing in public. The current research line of medical steganography targets simple data-hiding methods, yet remains barren in optimal embedding and stronger robustness. To fill this gap, we propose an end-to-end steganographic framework for medical images. Our idea is to integrate medical-image adaptive steganography with a generative adversarial network (GAN), named MedSteGAN. To improve both robustness, we design an optimized U-shape gen- erator that extracts features more efficiently utilizing larger kernel convolutions and the ReLU6 function. Also, deconvolutions are replaced by upsampling and convolution layers to avoid the checkerboard effect. To enhance security and image quality, we employ visual quality loss and mean squared error (MSE) loss based on the multi-scale structural similarity index metric (MS- SSIM) and the high-pass filters, respectively. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MedSteGAN outperforms state-of-the-art steganographic schemes in terms of robustness and image quality. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Defining digital quadruplets in the cyber-physical-social space for parallel driving

Parallel driving is a novel framework to synthesize the vehicle intelligence and transport automation. This article aims to define the digital quadruplets in parallel driving. In the cyber-physical-social systems (CPSS), based on the ACP method, the names of the digital quadruplets are first given, which are descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and real vehicles. The objectives of the three virtual digital vehicles are interacting, guiding, simulating and improving with the real vehicles. Then, the three virtual components of the digital quadruplets are introduced in detail and their applications are also illustrated. Finally, the real vehicles in parallel driving system and the research process of the digital quadruplets are depicted. The presented digital quadruplets in parallel driving are expected to make the future connected automated driving safety, efficiently and synergistically. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. Internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling is a vital vitreoretinal surgery procedure. However, due to the thickness of just 1-2 micrometers and the intricacies associated with its varying density and adhesion, the difficulty of manipulation exceeds the physiological limits of human perception and operation. Surgical robot is characterized by high precision and stability. However, navigating intricate intraocular environments and handling minuscule high-precision areas remain enormous challenges. These include issues of uneven lighting, field-of-view loss, and motion blur. This paper proposed a perception method named ‘Multimodal Surgical Process Recognition based on Domain Knowledge and Segmentation (MSPR-DKS),’ designed to address these challenges and provide input for the precise control of robots. Moreover, a comprehensive dataset focused on ILM peeling during macular hole surgeries was established. Experimental results underscore the efficacy of this approach, with segmentation accuracies exceeding 99.27% for instruments and macular holes and an average accuracy of 98.97% in recognizing surgical processes. This study paves the way for leveraging domain knowledge and image segmentation to improve robot-assisted manipulation of soft tissues in ophthalmology.

A Stock Border Compensation Technique for Gaseous Energy Scheduling in Steel Enterprises Under Uncertainty

This study proposes a stock boundary compensation method to address the uncertainty of gaseous energy in integrated steel plants. The uncertainty disrupts the balance of temporary storage, resulting in energy waste, environmental pollution, and disturbances in steel production. The method accurately compensates for the impact of gaseous energy uncertainty on storage. Firstly, the gas energy system and its scheduling model are described using the example of oxygen and by-product gas systems. The storage deviation caused by gaseous energy uncertainty is quantitatively analyzed using formulas. Subsequently, an optimization problem is formulated to determine the optimal margin for compensating the storage boundary using a data-driven approach. Comparative experiments demonstrate that the proposed method not only significantly enhances the safety of gaseous energy storage subject to uncertainty, but also outperforms traditional robust optimization and stock fluctuation optimization methods in terms of system robustness against uncertainty and operating cost optimality. © 2024, The Authors. In order to sort signals from the emitters with the same type, a sorting method based on fractal dimensions of pulse envelope's front edge is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a novel signal sorting flow based on fractal dimensions is presented. Then the approach for extracting the box dimension and information dimension of the pulse envelope's front edge is given. Finally, simulated signals and actual signals are used for validating the proposed method respectively. Experiment results show that the correct sorting rate by this method after traditional sorting for signals from the same type emitters is above 95%.

Super-resolution Reconstruction of Single Image for Latent features

Single-image super-resolution (SISR) typically focuses on restoring various degraded low-resolution (LR) images to a single high-resolution (HR) image. However, during SISR tasks, it is often challenging for models to simultaneously maintain high quality and rapid sampling while preserving diversity in details and texture features. This challenge can lead to issues such as model collapse, lack of rich details and texture features in the reconstructed HR images, and excessive time consumption for model sampling. To address these problems, this paper proposes a Latent Feature-oriented Diffusion Probability Model (LDDPM). First, we designed a conditional encoder capable of effectively encoding LR images, reducing the solution space for model image reconstruction and thereby improving the quality of the reconstructed images. We then employed a normalized flow and multimodal adversarial training, learning from complex multimodal distributions, to model the denoising distribution. Doing so boosts the generative modeling capabilities within a minimal number of sampling steps. Experimental comparisons of our proposed model with existing SISR methods on mainstream datasets demonstrate that our model reconstructs more realistic HR images and achieves better performance on multiple evaluation metrics, providing a fresh perspective for tackling SISR tasks. © 2022, CC0.

Enhancing Robustness: Multi-Stage Adjustable Scheduling of Oxygen systems in Steel Enterprises Under Demand Uncertainty

In steel industries, oxygen demands are generally uncertain due to unpredictable disturbances in steel production, which seriously impacts system safety. Conventional static oxygen scheduling exhibits excessive conservativeness and limited robustness. Thus, we propose a Multi-Stage Adjustable Robust Scheduling method for oxygen systems that can adaptively address uncertain demands over time. To achieve this, we first establish an oxygen system scheduling model that integrates multiple load-adjustment modes of the air separation unit to improve responsiveness. We divide the scheduling time horizon into multiple stages, and for each stage, we design a data-driven uncertainty set that captures the most critical uncertainty distribution interval with low conservativeness. We also design computationally efficient recourse decisions using a few additional variables. These designs upgrade the deterministic oxygen scheduling model to a computationally tractable Multi-Stage Adjustable Robust Scheduling model that can dynamically adjust evaporators and emissions to address observed uncertainty promptly. We demonstrate the superiority of the proposed model using real data of an oxygen system. Compared to conventional oxygen scheduling, the adjustable robust scheduling improves the ability to handle uncertainty at least three-fold and saves cost, thereby enhancing system robustness and while reducing conservativeness. The designed recourse decisions greatly improve solution efficiency by two orders of magnitude. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

As a special type of object detection, pedestrian detection in generic scenes has made a significant progress trained with large amounts of labeled training data manually. While the models trained with generic dataset work bad when they are directly used in specific scenes. With special viewpoints, flow light and backgrounds, datasets from specific scenes are much different from the datasets from generic scenes. In order to make the generic scene pedestrian detectors work well in specific scenes, the labeled data from specific scenes are needed to adapt the models to the specific scenes. While labeling the data manually spends much time and money, especially for specific scenes, each time with a new specific scene, large amounts of images must be labeled. What’s more, the labeling information is not so accurate in the pixels manually and different people make different labeling information. In this paper, we propose an ACP-based method, with augmented reality’s help, we build the virtual world of specific scenes, and make people walking in the virtual scenes where it is possible for them to appear to solve this problem of lacking labeled data and the results show that data from virtual world is helpful to adapt generic pedestrian detectors to specific scenes.
