Formal safety guarantees on the synthesis of controllers for stochastic systems can be obtained using correct-by-design approaches. These approaches often use abstractions as finite-state Markov Decision Processes (MDPs). As the state space of these MDPs grows, the curse of dimensionality makes the computational and memory cost of the probabilistic guarantees, quantified with dynamic programming, scale exponentially. In this work, we leverage decoupled dynamics and unravel, via dynamic programming operations, a tree structure in the Canonical Polyadic Decomposition (CPD) of the value functions. For discrete-time stochastic systems with syntactically co-safe linear temporal logic (scLTL) specifications, we provide provable probabilistic safety guarantees and significantly alleviate the computational burden. We provide numerical studies and validations of the theoretical results on several typical case studies and showcase that the uncovered tree structure enables efficient reductions in the computational burden. Targetless Automatic Edge-to-Edge Extrinsic Calibration of LiDAR-Camera System Based on Pure Laser Reflectivity

High-precision calibration of LiDAR and cameras is an essential precondition for multi-sensor fusion systems. Since controlled targets are not always available in field, targetless calibration methods have emerged as a practical alternative to traditional target-based approaches. However, the complexity and variability of natural scenes pose significant challenges to feature extraction and matching in the targetless calibration process. To address these issues, this paper proposes a targetless, automatic edge-to-edge calibration method based solely on laser reflectivity, aimed at enhancing calibration accuracy and feature consistency in the LiDAR-Camera calibration (LCC) task. Traditional methods primarily focus on the 3D information of LiDAR point clouds for feature detection. In contrast, the proposed method leverages the superior capabilities of laser reflectivity to perceive color, depth, and material properties. This strategy enables robust edge feature consistency in 2D, thereby enhancing overall calibration accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method reduces translation error by an average 61.9% compared to existing state-of-the-art targetless approaches, offering enhanced feature extraction accuracy and robustness, particularly in complex and unstructured environments. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Dynamic Graph Guided Progressive Partial View-Aligned Clustering

In recent years, there has been a growing focus on multiview data, driven by its rich complementary and consistent information, which has the potential to significantly enhance the performance of downstream tasks. Although many multiview clustering (MVC) methods have achieved promising results by integrating the information of multiple views to learn the consistent representation or consistent graph, these methods typically require complete and entirely accurate correspondences between multiview data, which is challenging to fulfill in practice leading to the problem of partially view-aligned clustering (PVC). To tackle it, we propose a novel method, called dynamic graph guided progressive partial view-aligned clustering (DGPPVC) in this article. To the best of our knowledge, this could be the first work to employ graph convolutional network (GCN) to address the problem of PVC, which explores GCN with dynamic adjacency matrix to reduce unreliable alignments and locate the feature representation with consistent graph structure. In particular, DGPPVC develops an end-to-end framework that encompasses graph construction, feature representation learning, and alignment relationships learning, in which the three parts mutually influence and benefit each other. Moreover, DGPPVC adopts a novel alignment learning strategy that progresses from simplicity to complexity, enabling the step-by-step acquisition of unknown correspondences between different modalities. By giving priority to simple instance pairs, a variant of Jaccard similarities is designed to identify more reliable and complex alignments progressively. During the gradual learning process of alignment relationships, the graph structure matrix is continually and dynamically optimized, thus acquiring a greater variety of graph information between different views. Experiments on several real-world datasets show our promising performance compared with the state-of-the-art methods in partially view-aligned clustering. ©

This paper addresses the distributed load frequency control (LFC) problem for multi-area interconnected power systems (MAIPSs) with thermal and wind power generations, considering both inter-area and intra-area transmission delays and random packet losses induced by communication networks. Firstly, a heterogeneous framework of MAIPSs is constructed, where a networked distributed model predictive control (DMPC) scheme is proposed to compensate for transmission delays and random packet losses. Based on this framework, we then developed a distributed closed-loop LFC system model for heterogeneous MAIPS. Subsequently, a Luenberger observer is constructed to estimate the system state of the local area, and a networked feedback controller is designed to ensure stability with a certain H∞ performance level for the networked MAIPSs. Moreover, stability conditions and controller design criteria are provided by using the Lyapunov-Krasovskii stability theory. CoSDH: Communication-Efficient Collaborative Perception via Supply-Demand Awareness and Intermediate-Late Hybridization

Multi-agent collaborative perception enhances perceptual capabilities by utilizing information from multiple agents and is considered a fundamental solution to the problem of weak single-vehicle perception in autonomous driving. However, existing collaborative perception methods face a dilemma between communication efficiency and perception accuracy. To address this issue, we propose a novel communication-efficient collaborative perception framework based on supply-demand awareness and intermediate-late hybridization, dubbed as CoSDH. By modeling the supply-demand relationship between agents, the framework refines the selection of collaboration regions, reducing unnecessary communication cost while maintaining accuracy. In addition, we innovatively introduce the intermediate-late hybrid collaboration mode, where late-stage collaboration compensates for the performance degradation in collaborative perception under low communication bandwidth. Extensive experiments on multiple datasets, including both simulated and real-world scenarios, demonstrate that CoSDH achieves state-of-the-art detection accuracy and optimal bandwidth tradeoffs, delivering superior detection precision under real communication bandwidths, thus proving its effectiveness and practical applicability. Towards Training-free Anomaly Detection with Vision and Language Foundation Models

Anomaly detection is valuable for real-world applications, such as industrial quality inspection. However, most approaches focus on detecting local structural anomalies while neglecting compositional anomalies incorporating logical constraints. In this paper, we introduce LogSAD, a novel multi-modal framework that requires no training for both Logical and Structural Anomaly Detection. First, we propose a match-of-thought architecture that employs advanced large multi-modal models (i.e. GPT-4V) to generate matching proposals, formulating interests and compositional rules of thought for anomaly detection. Second, we elaborate on multi-granularity anomaly detection, consisting of patch tokens, sets of interests, and composition matching with vision and language foundation models. Subsequently, we present a calibration module to align anomaly scores from different detectors, followed by integration strategies for the final decision. Consequently, our approach addresses both logical and structural anomaly detection within a unified framework and achieves state-of-the-art results without the need for training, even when compared to supervised approaches, highlighting its robustness and effectiveness. Video-Based Multiphysiological Disentanglement and Remote Robust Estimation for Respiration

Remote noncontact respiratory rate estimation by facial visual information has great research significance, providing valuable priors for health monitoring, clinical diagnosis, and anti-fraud. However, existing studies suffer from disturbances in epidermal specular reflections induced by head movements and facial expressions. Furthermore, diffuse reflections of light in the skin-colored subcutaneous tissue caused by multiple time-varying physiological signals independent of breathing are entangled with the intention of the respiratory process, leading to confusion in current research. To address these issues, this article proposes a novel network for natural light video-based remote respiration estimation. Specifically, our model consists of a two-stage architecture that progressively implements vital measurements. The first stage adopts an encoder-decoder structure to recharacterize the facial motion frame differences of the input video based on the gradient binary state of the respiratory signal during inspiration and expiration. Then, the obtained generative mapping, which is disentangled from various time-varying interferences and is only linearly related to the respiratory state, is combined with the facial appearance in the second stage. To further improve the robustness of our algorithm, we design a targeted long-term temporal attention module and embed it between the two stages to enhance the network’s ability to model the breathing cycle that occupies ultra many frames and to mine hidden timing change clues. We train and validate the proposed network on a series of publicly available respiration estimation datasets, and the experimental results demonstrate its competitiveness against the state-of-the-art breathing and physiological prediction frameworks. © 2012 IEEE.

BeltLineNet: A Shape-Prior-Guided Lightweight Network for Real-Time Deviation Detection in Circular Pipe Conveyors

Belt deviation in circular pipe conveyor systems could lead to material spillage, environmental contamination, reduced efficiency, and accelerated belt wear. Real-time belt deviation detection is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient operation. However, existing methods, primarily developed for flat-belt systems, heavily rely on distinct belt-background semantics, making them unsuitable for circular conveyors where indistinct target features, motion blur, and occlusions pose significant challenges. To address these issues, we reformulate the deviation detection task as an object detection problem, proposing BeltLineNet, a lightweight, real-time deviation detection network specifically designed for circular pipe conveyors. Our method integrates explicit feature learning with a coarse-to-fine global feature fusion mechanism, enhancing belt line representation under complex conditions. Additionally, a shape-prior loss strategy is introduced to improve supervision during training, ensuring more accurate detection of elongated targets. The model is also optimized for real-time deployment through layer-adaptive pruning, achieving a balance between accuracy and computational efficiency. Extensive comparative experiments involving 8 state-of-the-art (SOTA) feature extraction networks and 6 feature enhancement strategies on a self-collected dataset under industrial conditions demonstrate that BeltLineNet surpasses SOTA feature extraction and fusion networks, improving average precision (AP) by 8.23% before pruning and 6.33% after pruning. © 2001-2012 IEEE.

Synchronization is a widespread phenomenon observed in both natural and societal systems. The advancement of MEMS technology has facilitated the study and application of synchronization, significantly enhancing the performance of MEMS sensors. However, the limited synchronization range of linear systems has restricted its broader application in sensor technologies. In this article, we propose a method to expand the synchronization range based on mode coupling and phase control. Theoretical derivations and experimental validations were conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Experimental results reveal that the method achieves a synchronization range expansion of more than 50 times for both downward and upward frequency sweeps. Furthermore, the maintenance time of the synchronized state is significantly extended. This achievement is expected to provide a new solution for the application of synchronization-enhanced sensing in various fields, paving the way for improved sensor performance and broader applicability. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.
