With the relaxation of electricity market regulation, power plants are permitted to engage in bidding. The bidding outcomes in the competitive market differ significantly from those in the previously regulated market. These differences in bidding outcomes will further impact power flow and system security. To provide a reference for practical electricity market operations, make market simulation more realistic, it is crucial to analyze and establish a model to simulate the bidding behavior of power generators. This paper applies Transformer networks to predict multi-segment bidding behaviors of power plants, we have improved the classic Transformer network by adopting a one encoder-two decoder format, considering six key factors influencing bidding behavior: unit ID, fuel type, capacity, location, system load, and load ratio. Additionally, monotonicity of the multi-segment bidding curves of power plants is taken into account, and monotonicity loss functions are introduced to achieve this goal. We apply this method to predict bidding behaviors in power plants in the Australian electricity market, validating the accuracy of the model. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. Co., Ltd. 2025.

The prediction of online information diffusion trends on social networks is crucial for understanding people’s interests and concerns, and has many real-world applications in fields such as business, politics and social security. Existing research on information diffusion prediction has predominantly focused on either macro level prediction of the future popularity of online information or micro level user activation prediction. However, information diffusion prediction on micro or macro level only may lead to one-sided prediction results, and there is a lack of research on implementing micro and macro level diffusion prediction tasks at the same time. Since micro and macro level diffusion prediction tasks are related to each other, we propose a unified information diffusion model which can jointly predicting the micro level user activation probability and macro level information popularity based on multi-task learning framework. We utilize graph neural network to learn user representation from both the information cascades and social network structure. Comparing with micro and macro level baseline methods separately, the prediction results of our proposed model outperform all baseline methods and proves the effectiveness of the proposed method. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Towards Gradient Equalization and Feature Diversification for Long-Tailed Multi-Label Image Recognition

Multi-label image recognition with convolutional neural networks has achieved remarkable progress in the past few years. However, most existing multi-label image recognition methods suffer from the long-tailed data distribution problem, i.e., head categories occupy most training samples, while tailed classes have few samples. This work firstly studies the influence of long-tailed data distribution on existing multi-label image recognition methods. Based on this, two crucial issues of the existing methods are identified: 1) severe gradient imbalance between head and tailed categories, even though re-balancing strategies are adopted;2) the lack of diversity of tail category training samples. To tackle the first issue, this paper proposes a group sampling strategy to create group- wise balanced data distribution. Meanwhile, a dynamic gradient balancing loss is proposed to equalize the gradient for all categories. To tackle the second issue, this paper proposes a diversity enhancement module to fuse the information across all categories, preventing the network from overfitting tail classes. Furthermore, it also balances the gradient, promoting the discriminability of learned classifiers. Our method significantly outperforms the baseline method and achieves competitive performance with state-of-the-art methods on VOC-LT and COCO-LT datasets. Extensive ablation studies are conducted to verify the effectiveness of the essential proposals. © 1999-2012 IEEE.

Minimax problems have attracted much attention due to various applications in constrained optimization problems and zero-sum games. Identifying saddle points within these problems is crucial, and saddle flow dynamics offer a straightforward yet useful approach. This study focuses on a class of bilinearly coupled minimax problems with strongly convex-linear objective functions. We design an accelerated algorithm based on saddle flow dynamics, achieving a convergence rate beyond the stereotype limit (the strong convexity constant). The algorithm is derived from a sequential two-step transformation of a given objective function. First, a change of variables is applied to render the objective function better-conditioned, introducing strong concavity (from linearity) while preserving strong convexity. Second, proximal regularization, when staggered with the first step, further enhances the strong convexity of the objective function by shifting some of the obtained strong concavity. After these transformations, saddle flow dynamics based on the new objective function can be tuned for accelerated exponential convergence. Besides, such an approach can be extended to weakly convex-weakly concave functions and still guarantees exponential convergence to one stationary point. The theory is verified by a numerical test on an affine equality-constrained convex optimization problem. © 2024 IEEE.

Robot Operating System (ROS) is a widely used software architecture for robotic systems, which provides hardware abstractions and common functions in robotics. Launch files, as one of the configuration files in the actual program development of ROS, provide a method to start multiple nodes and set global parameters on the local or multiple machines at the same time. For launch files with complex and complex content, we need to get the questions we encounter in writing and using launch files from the Q&A community. We crawled 854 Q&A posts about Launch files from SO and ROS Answers respectively, and conducted in-depth empirical research. Based on the content of the Q&A posts, we roughly divided them into five topics, including syntax specification, function implementation, running error, dependency related and environment configuration. We used topic modelling LDA to categorize Q&A posts by topics, and segmented them by combining the five topics already obtained. Through the results, we found that parameter configuration and syntax errors were the main problems, and then we made a rough analysis of the answer content of the post, and found that the quality of the ROS-related Q&A posts was not high. The above findings inspired us to develop a template tool to simplify the writing of Launch flies and use the node information in the Launch files to recommend ROS nodes to lay a good foundation. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. There are More Fish in the Sea: Automated Vulnerability Repair via Binary Templates

As software vulnerabilities increase in both volume and complexity, vendors often struggle to repair them promptly. Automated vulnerability repair has emerged as a promising solution to reduce the burden of manual debugging and fixing activities. However, existing techniques exclusively focus on repairing the vulnerabilities at the source code level, which has various limitations. For example, they are not applicable to those (e.g., users or security analysts) who do not have access to the source code. Consequently, this restricts the practical application of these techniques, especially in cases where vendors are unable to provide timely patches. In this paper, we aim to address the above limitations by performing vulnerability repair at binary code level, and accordingly propose a template-based automated vulnerability repair approach for Java binaries. Built on top of the literature, we collect fix templates from both existing template-based automated program repair approaches and vulnerability-specific analyses, which are then implemented for the Java binaries. Our systematic application of these templates effectively mitigates vulnerabilities: experiments on the Vul4J dataset demonstrate that TemVUR successfully repairs 11 vulnerabilities, marking a notable 57.1% improvement over current repair techniques. Moreover, TemVUR securely fixes 66.7% more vulnerabilities compared to leading techniques (15 vs. 9), underscoring its effectiveness in mitigating the risks posed by these vulnerabilities. To assess the generalizability of TemVUR, we curate the ManyVuls4J dataset, which goes beyond Vul4J to encompass a wider diversity of vulnerabilities. With 30% more vulnerabilities than its predecessor (increasing from 79 to 103), ManyVuls4J serves as a robust benchmark for evaluating the performance of TemVUR. The evaluation on ManyVuls4J reaffirms TemVUR’s effectiveness and generalizability across a diverse set of real-world vulnerabilities. Copyright © 2024, The Authors.

With the rapid growth of video data, video summarization is a promising approach to shorten a lengthy video into a compact version. Although supervised summarization approaches have achieved state-of-the-art performance, they require frame-level annotated labels. Such an annotation process is time-consuming and tedious. In this article, we propose a novel deep summarization framework named Deep Semantic and Attentive Network for Video Summarization (DSAVS) that can select the most semantically representative summary by minimizing the distance between video representation and text representation without any frame-level labels. Another challenge associated with video summarization tasks mainly originates from the difficulty of considering temporal information over a long time. Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) performs well for temporal dependencies modeling but does not work well with long video clips. Therefore, we introduce a self-attention mechanism into our summarization framework to capture the long-range temporal dependencies among the frames. Extensive experiments on two popular benchmark datasets, i.e., SumMe and TVSum, show that our proposed framework outperforms other state-of-the-art unsupervised approaches and even most supervised methods. © 2022 Association for Computing Machinery.

In this work, we consider the physical layer security in short-packet communications, where a full-duplex (FD) receiver receives information signals from a source while generating artificial noise (AN) to confuse an eavesdropper. Taking into account the finite blocklength coding and the self-interference (SI) in FD mode, we derive new approximation closed-form expression for the secrecy throughput. Moreover, we analyze the asymptotic secrecy throughput in two distinct scenarios, i.e., high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) regime and infinite blocklength coding, to gain more insights. Our examination illustrates the correctness of our expressions and shows how the critical system variables affect the secrecy throughput. © 2023 The Authors

With the collaboration of several intelligent services, a crowd intelligence service network has been formed, and a service ecosystem has gradually emerged. As a novel service organization model, the Service Ecosystem (SE) can provide more sophisticated, precise, and thorough services and has attracted widespread attention. However, it also brings negative effects such as involution, and information cocoon room. Thus, how to analyze the collaborative decision-making mechanism between the SE regulation algorithm and the crowd intelligence group, exploring the reasons behind the negative effects, and finding effective intervention strategies have become problems in this field. To solve the challenges, we propose a Computational Experiments-based method Decision-making processes Analysis model in SE, namely CEDA. The proposed CEDA model consists of three modules: the autonomous evolution mechanism module, the learning evolution mechanism module, and the collaborative decision-making analysis module. Among them, the computational experiments can provide a customized test environment for the analysis of collaborative decision-making processes and find out the appropriate intervention strategy. Finally, the validity of the CEDA model is verified through the case of academic ecosystem involution.
