Highly birefringent photonic crystal fibers with flattened dispersion and low confinement loss

A highly birefringent index-guiding photonic crystal fiber (PCF) with flattened dispersion and low confinement loss is proposed by introducing two small air holes with the same diameter in the core area. The fundamental mode field, birefringence, confinement loss, effective mode area and dispersion characteristic of the fibers are studied by the full-vector finite element method (FEM). Simulation results show that a high birefringence with the order of 10 -3 and a low confinement loss of 0.001 dB/km are obtained at 1550 nm. Furthermore, flattened chromatic dispersion from 1450 nm to 1590 nm is obtained.

A Power Control Scheme for Target Localization in WSN

In this paper, we focus on the target tracking problem in sensor networks and propose an Powersaving target localization scheme (PSTL) based on a conjecture model that reflects the moving pattern of a target, and also a corresponding two-step communication protocol between Base station (BS) and sensors. BS executes a query mechanism to determine which sensors should be used for detailed information according to a limited amount of data received from sensors. This scheme reduces both energy consumption and communication bandwidth requirement, prolongs the lifetime of the wireless sensor networks. Simulation results indicate that it can achieve a high accuracy while saving a large amount of energy.

Minimum-Energy Broadcast Trees in All-Wireless Networks

This paper focuses on the problem of constructing the minimum-energy broadcast trees in all-wireless networks. We proposed a greedy algorithm called Greedy maximum-branch replacement algorithm (GMBR) to decrease the total power of the broadcast tree further. This algorithm can be developed to a distributed one easily. Compared with the previous algorithms, GMBR was proved to have better performance, especially when the propagation loss exponent and the network size become larger.

A parallel NURBS-based isogeometric analysis framework on multi-core CPUs

A parallel framework for NURBS-based isogeometric analysis on multi-core cpus is presented in this paper. The framework is composed of two parts: (1) construction of the stiffness matrix and right hand side vector;(2) a parallel sparse solver. We analyze the properties of NURBS basis, use the ELLPACK format to store the stiffness matrix. The parallel strategy is dividing the matrix and vectors into disjoint parts. Each core computes one part in parallel. We test the effectiveness and efficiency of the framework on an 8-core machine and a 48-core machine. The framework solves the 2-d poisson equation and can solve 1.05 million degrees of freedom in about 22 seconds using 32 cores. The speed-up of the construction reaches 28.3 using 32 cores. © 2012 Binary Information Press.

To ensure the security of image information and facilitate efficient management in the cloud, the utilization of reversible data hiding in encrypted images (RDHEI) has emerged as pivotal. However, most existing RDHEI schemes suffer from lower security and limited embedding capacity. To tackle these challenges, we propose a reversible data hiding with secret encrypted image sharing and adaptive coding scheme. Specifically, in the encryption phase, we introduce an improved secret sharing (SS) encryption method based on the chinese remainder theorem for polynomials (CRTP). This method not only improves the security of encrypted images but also vacates a larger room for embedding. In the embedding phase, we introduce an adaptive coding embedding approach using XOR preservation (XORP) and huffman coding, which provides high embedding capacity. Experimental results and security analysis demonstrate that our proposed encryption method achieves optimal values in security indicators for encrypted images, such as information entropy, histograms, NPCR and UACI. The proposed embedding method is superior to some state-of-the-art schemes in terms of embedding capacity. Furthermore, in datasets BOSSBase and BOWS2, the average embedding rates of the proposed embedding approach can reach 2.1745 bpp and 2.0656 bpp, respectively. © 2025 IEEE.

A Dynamic Load Balancing Method of Cloud-Center Based on SDN

In order to balancing based on data achieve dynamic load flow level, in this paper, we apply SDN technology to the cloud data center, and propose a dynamic load balancing method of cloud center based on SDN. The approach of using the SDN technology in the current task scheduling flexibility, accomplish real-time monitoring of the service node flow and load condition by the OpenFlow protocol. When the load of system is imbalanced, the controller can allocate globally network resources. What＇s more, by using dynamic correction, the load of the system is not obvious tilt in the long run. The results of simulation show that this approach can realize and ensure that the load will not tilt over a long period of time, and improve the system throughput.

Multi-modality image fusion (MMIF) entails synthesizing images with detailed textures and prominent objects. Existing methods tend to use general feature extraction to handle different fusion tasks. However, these methods have difficulty breaking fusion barriers across various modalities owing to the lack of targeted learning routes. In this work, we propose a multi-scenario feature joint learning architecture, MLFuse, that employs the commonalities of multi-modality images to deconstruct the fusion progress. Specifically, we construct a cross-modal knowledge reinforcing network that adopts a multipath calibration strategy to promote information communication between different images. In addition, two professional networks are developed to maintain the salient and textural information of fusion results. The spatial-spectral domain optimizing network can learn the vital relationship of the source image context with the help of spatial attention and spectral attention. The edge-guided learning network utilizes the convolution operations of various receptive fields to capture image texture information. The desired fusion results are obtained by aggregating the outputs from the three networks. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of MLFuse for infrared-visible image fusion and medical image fusion. The excellent results of downstream tasks (i.e., object detection and semantic segmentation) further verify the high-quality fusion performance of our method. Classifying and clustering in negative databases

Recently, negative databases （NDBs） are proposed for privacy protection. Similar to the traditional databases, some basic operations could be conducted over the NDBs, such as select, intersection, update, delete and so on. However, both classifying and clustering in negative databases have not yet been studied. Therefore, two algorithms, i.e., a k nearest neighbor （kNN） classification algorithm and a k-means clustering algorithm in NDBs, are proposed in this paper, respectively. The core of these two algorithms is a novel method for estimating the Hamming distance between a binary string and an NDB. Experimental results demonstrate that classifying and clustering in NDBs are promising.
