In this paper, we address the problem of MAC address assignment in wireless sensor networks. A novel scheme for MAC address assignment is proposed to reduce the overhead. We model the problem from the game theoretical view, prove there exists a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium in the model, and propose a distributed address assign algorithm to achieve the equilibrium, which takes the advantage of the exploitation of spatial address reuse to save energy. Simulation results demonstrate that our algorithm is efficient even for very large-scale networks, which makes it a potential candidate for practical applications. © IEEE.

In a wireless sensor network, the regions in which a large percentage of sensor nodes are not available may form holes in the network. In holes, sensor nodes may be depleted or not dense enough to communicate with others. So those holes may degrade some applications' performances in sensor networks. In this paper, we study the problem of detecting topological holes in sensor networks with no localization information in any node. We present a distributed cooperative scheme which is only based on the communication topology graph. To identify holes, each node only needs to exchange information with its 1-hop and 2-hop neighbors. With the cooperation of its 2-hop neighbors, each node could independently decide whether it is on the boundary of a hole. Experimental results demonstrate that our algorithm could indeed capture the characteristics of those boundary nodes and describe those holes in sensor networks of moderate node densities. © IEEE.

In this paper we propose a modification of quadratic NURSSes called EDSes (Extended Doo-Sabin Surfaces). EDSes inherit the refinement rules for quadratic NURSSes for four-sided faces but use the refinement rules for Doo-Sabin surfaces for faces with other than four sides. Compared to quadratic NURSSes, if all the knot intervals are positive, EDSes always converge to G1 continuous limit surfaces with closed-form limit point as well as limit normal rules. 1548-7741/Copyright © 2011 Binary Information Press.

Signal transduction (ST) networks simulation is important to medical research. However, owing to the complexity of the networks, most methods presented for the simulation are not desirable. Here, based on multi-agent system (MAS), we proposed a novel approach characterized by a multi-level discrete space and mesoscopic molecule-agents for describing ST networks at a mesoscopic level. The space is developed for the representation of the cellular space;it provides a relatively sufficient spatial representation with less computational cost. The mesoscopic molecule-agents model the active components within the networks, which will offer new potentials to overcome the combinatorial complexity as well as make computation feasible. To validate this method, the simulations of a composition/decomposition system and the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK) signal transduction pathway are implemented. Finally, an in-silico experiment with perturbation in the MAPK pathway is made. The results obtained from the simulations demonstrate the validity of the approach. ©2007 IEEE.

Testing is a critical activity to find software errors. And choosing an effective test suite is the key problem in software testing area. Program invariant, as an attribute of program, can record the implementation state of test case very well and reveal the coverage of program data. In this paper, we integrate adaptive random testing and invariant technology, and present a new method which makes full use of the feedback information of program invariant and invalid case suite to generate the next case. Experiment results show that, compared with other similar methods, running for the same time, our method can achieve higher coverage and faster convergence speed. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

Correlation dimension (CD) and the largest Lyapunov exponent (LLE), which are two most important nonlinear invariant measures of nonlinear system, are adopted to characterize the complexity and stability of human brain during all sleep stages. In order to And an optimal embedding to reconstruct phase space, the C-C method and Cao's algorithm were thoroughly analyzed and implemented in efficient ways. Additionally, the G-P algorithm and Kantz's algorithm are also implemented for calculation of CD and LLE respectively. Eight normal sleep EEG records are acquired from MIT-BIH sleep-EDF database for this study. The values of CD and LLE for 30s epochs are calculated, and their mean and standard deviation values are evaluated as well. The results indicate that CD and LLE decrease from the waking stage to stages I, II and III-IV, and they have large values during rapid eye movement (REM) sleep stage. Then, a qualitative conclusion may be drawn that during waking stage and REM sleep stage, brain activity has higher complexity and lower stability than during other stages. © 2007 IEEE.

Appropriate dealing with boundary conditions is very important for SPH. Current boundary treatment methods like boundary force method, ghost particle method and virtual boundary layer method, when dealing with complex boundaries, they will have to compute much on putting external particles. For resolving this problem, we propose a new method assuming part of boundary surface instead of external particles, called effective force surface, directly repels the internal particles which approach sufficiently close. We call this new method EFS method. It is implemented in the SPH model for simulating fluid in rabbit-type cup and dam-breaking. In the former case, liquid flows vividly and no internal particles penetrate boundaries. In the latter case, the result is similar to existing result. The experimental results show that EFS method can effectively and precisely deal with complex boundary conditions. © 2010 IEEE.

Linux 2.6 load balancing algorithm on scheduling domain supports CMP, CMT, SMP, NUMA architecture. For SMT, the algorithm try to assign the new process to the idlest CPU of the idlest core, and if the first CPU of a core is comparati vely idle, it tries to pull moderate amount of tasks from the busiest CPU of the core to balance the system workload periodically. Under certain circumstances, this strategy would cause the system to be more unbalanced. For the above defects, the algorithm can be adjusted in two ways. (1) The idlest CPU of the entire system should be selects for the new process;(2) the idlest CPU of a scheduling domain periodically can move tasks from the scheduling domain to itself. After applying this optimization, the system's performance achieved the highest increase of 8% in hackbench testing on an 8-core 32-thread XLR532 processor. © 2013 IEEE.

Reconstructing the three-dimensional (3D) shape and texture of the face from a single image is a significant and challenging task in computer vision and graphics. In recent years, learning-based reconstruction methods have exhibited outstanding performance, but their effectiveness is severely constrained by the scarcity of available training data with 3D annotations. To address this issue, we present the PR3D (Precise and Realistic 3D face reconstruction) method, which consists of high-precision shape reconstruction based on semi-supervised learning and high-fidelity texture reconstruction based on StyleGAN2. In shape reconstruction, we use in-the-wild face images and 3D annotated datasets to train the auxiliary encoder and the identity encoder, encoding the input image into parameters of FLAME (a parametric 3D face model). Simultaneously, a novel semi-supervised hybrid landmark loss is designed to more effectively learn from in-the-wild face images and 3D annotated datasets. Furthermore, to meet the real-time requirements in practical applications, a lightweight shape reconstruction model called fast-PR3D is distilled through teacher–student learning. In texture reconstruction, we propose a texture extraction method based on face reenactment in StyleGAN2 style space, extracting texture from the source and reenacted face images to constitute a facial texture map. Extensive experiments have demonstrated the state-of-the-art performance of our method. © 2024 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

By using the knowledge of facial structure and temperature distribution, this paper proposes an automatic eye localization method from infrared thermal images. A facial structure consisting of 15 sub-regions is proposed to extract Haar-like features. Eight classifiers are learned from the features selected by Adaboost algorithm for left and right eye, respectively. A vote strategy is used to find the most likely eyes. Experimental results on the NVIE and Equinox databases show the effectiveness of our approach. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
