Scattering structure features of targets is of great importance for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image analysis. In this paper, a novel algorithm for aircraft recognition in high resolution apron area of SAR images is proposed. The algorithm combines the strength of gradient saliency map and scattering structure features to improve accuracy and efficiency. Specially, Constant False-Alarm Rate (CFAR) algorithm is carried out to segment images. Then, a new efficient object locating method based on directional local gradient map is proposed to detect aircraft targets. Then, the candidate slices as well as template slices are modeled using Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), which will be treated as structure features. In the recognition stage, a novel similarity measurement algorithm based on Kullback-Leibler Divergence for GMM models is proposed for classification. We conduct experiments on the dataset with 3.0m resolution and the recognition results demonstrate the accuracy of our proposed method.

In video streaming service, multicast mode is a promising way to complement unicast delivery of content, since it deliveries the video content to a broad range of receivers. It is considered as an efficient scheme to reduce redundant traffic in the networks. In this paper, we propose an OpenFlow based architecture for implementing Scalable Video Coding (SVC) multicast streaming. It enables in-network identifying, processing and manipulating the media streams, which makes prompt bitrate adaptation possible in response to network fluctuations. The heterogeneous video quality demand from the heterogeneous device also can be satisfied by customizing the multicast traffic through a centralized OpenFlow controller. We implement a testbed following the proposed architecture in our campus. With OpenFlow, we deploy IP multicast in a new way without Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) or any multicast addresses. Experiments implemented on the testbed show that our approach can provide a flexible and controllable video multicast streaming service and improve the usage of bandwidth resource in the condition of guaranteeing multicast receivers' Quality of Experience (QoE).

This paper presents a new Synthetic Aperture Radar（SAR） Automatic Target Recognition（ATR） method based on slow feature analysis. Slow feature analysis（SFA） is a method for learning invariant or slowly varying features from multi-dimensional input signal. The SFA-based SAR ATR system does not require any pre-processing, such as filtering or pose estimation of the image. The performance of the method is evaluated via three classification experiments on Moving and Stationary Target Acquisition and Recognition（MSTAR） database. The experiment results show the effectiveness of the proposed method on SAR ATR problem.

Part-based trackers have achieved promising performance in many tracking tasks. However, most part-based trackers use the same feature representation for all parts and simply combine them together to form an integral representation for the tracking target. It may not guarantee that all parts of the tracking target can well distinguish the foreground from the background. Better performance is expected by exploring different feature representations on different parts of the tracking target. In this paper, following the framework of the classic Compressive Tracker (CT), we model each part of the target adaptively by using a multi-dimensional color representation. By using color name, we select the color feature presentation that best distinguishes the foreground from background. In order to better handle deformation and illumination change, we use multi-Gaussian to model different appearance changes of the tracking target. Both qualitative and quantitative evaluations demonstrate that the proposed method makes a consistent performance improvement compared with the conventional Compressive Tracker on tracking benchmark dataset. Besides, it also outperforms many state-of-the-art trackers while running at averagely 20 frames per second (FPS).

Low-poly style illustrations, which have 3D abstract appearance, have become a popular stylish recently. Most previous methods require special knowledges in 3D modeling and need tedious interactions. We present an interactive system for non-expert users to easily manipulate the low-poly style illustration. Our system consists of two parts: vertex sampling and mesh rendering. In the vertex sampling stage, we extract a set of candidate points from the image and rank them according to their importance of structure preserving using adaptive thinning. Based on the pre-ranked point list, the user can select an arbitrary number of vertices for the triangle mesh construction. In the mesh rendering stage, we optimize triangle colors to create stereo-looking low-polys. We also provide three tools for exible modication of vertex numbers, color contrast, and local region emphasis. The experiment results demonstrate that our system outperforms state-of-the-art method via simple user interactions.

Multi-scale grouped dense network for VVC intra coding

Versatile Video Coding (H.266/VVC) standard achieves better image quality when keeping the same bits than any other conventional image codec, such as BPG, JPEG, and etc. However, it is still attractive and challenging to improve the image quality with high compression ratio on the basis of traditional coding techniques. In this paper, we design the multi-scale grouped dense network (MSGDN) to further reduce the compression artifacts by combining the multi-scale and grouped dense block, which are integrated as the post-process network of VVC intra coding. Besides, to improve the subjective quality of compressed image, we also present a generative adversarial network (MSGDN-GAN) by utilizing our MSGDN as generator. Across the extensive experiments on validation set, our MSGDN trained by MSE losses yields the PSNR of 32.622 on average with teams"IMC" and"haha" at the bit-rate of 0.15 in Low-rate track. Moreover, our MSGDN-GAN could achieve the better subjective performance. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. All rights reserved.

GaoFen-3(GF-3) is China's first multi-mode c-band radar imaging satellite launched on August 10, 2016. In order to meet the requirements for global ocean observing and wave detection, three wide swath modes were designed using Scan-beam synthetic aperture radar (ScanSAR) imaging mode, which are narrow scan, wide scan and global observation. The resolution varies from 50m to 500 m and the swath varies from 300 km to 650 km. Due to the Mosaic of sub-swath image, ScanSAR has a high requirement for radiation accuracy from processing algorithm. In this paper, GF-3 ScanSAR imaging processing gain and radiation correction methods are introduced, and the processing results of measured data collected in the amazon rainforest are analyzed to verify the radiation accuracy of accuracy ScanSAR. © 2019 IEEE.

High-Resolution Urban Flows Forecasting With Coarse-Grained Spatiotemporal Data

Urban flow monitoring and forecasting systems play important roles in smart city management. However, due to the long-lasting and enormous deployment cost of ubiquitous traffic monitoring devices (e.g., loop detectors, traffic video detection), it is very difficult to predict flow in high-resolution (HR) with limited monitoring devices. The existing spatiotemporal network based methods usually predict the urban flow in the same spatial scale without considering the spatial correlations between coarse-grained and fine-grained urban flows. To tackle these issues, we propose a HR spatiotemporal transformer network (HRSTT) to predict fine-grained urban flow. Specifically, residual convolution units are employed to constructs the high-level features of three-view temporal (e.g., closeness, period, and trend) flow data. Then, a transformer block is designed to jointly learn the spatiotemporal dynamic features of each temporal flow with self-attention mechanism. For the external factors (e.g., holidays, weather conditions) are extracted by embedding dense networks, which are fused with high level coarse-grained flow feature maps with gated-fusion scheme. Finally, the coarse-grained fusion feature maps are transferred to the distributional upsampling module, generating the fined-grained flow map of target predicted time. Furthermore, the proposed model is evaluated with several baselines on real-world TaxiBJ datasets, demonstrating the state-of-the-art performance of our approach on the fine-grained urban flow forecasting problem. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper studies price-based residential demand response management(PB-RDRM)in smart grids,in which non-dispatchable and dispatchable loads(including general loads and plug-in electric vehicles(PEVs))are both *** PB-RDRM is composed of a bi-level optimization problem,in which the upper-level dynamic retail pricing problem aims to maximize the profit of a utility company(UC)by selecting optimal retail prices(RPs),while the lower-level demand response(DR)problem expects to minimize the comprehensive cost of loads by coordinating their energy consumption *** challenges here are mainly two-fold:1)the uncertainty of energy consumption and RPs;2)the flexible PEVs’temporally coupled constraints,which make it impossible to directly develop a model-based optimization algorithm to solve the *** address these challenges,we first model the dynamic retail pricing problem as a Markovian decision process(MDP),and then employ a model-free reinforcement learning(RL)algorithm to learn the optimal dynamic RPs of UC according to the loads’*** proposed RL-based DR algorithm is benchmarked against two model-based optimization approaches(i.e.,distributed dual decomposition-based(DDB)method and distributed primal-dual interior(PDI)-based method),which require exact load and electricity price *** comparison results show that,compared with the benchmark solutions,our proposed algorithm can not only adaptively decide the RPs through on-line learning processes,but also achieve larger social welfare within an unknown electricity market environment.

The azimuth multichannel SAR is competent to achieve high-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) imaging. For some spaceborne multichannel SAR systems, the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of each channel at some beam positions is less than that of uniform sampling, hence leading to the azimuth ambiguities in the recovered images. In this paper, a novel azimuth ambiguity suppression method for multichannel SAR imaging based on L2,q regularization (0 2,q regularization from single-channel SAR system to multichannel SAR system and develop the proposed method. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method for non-sparse scenarios. Simulations and Gaofen-3 real data experiments are carried out to verify the validity of proposed method. ©2021 IEEE
