Multi-agent consensus equilibrium mechanism is a generalization of popular used PnP-ADMM method and composite regularization in computational sensing. We propose a novel SAR image sparse reconstruction method based on MACE mechanism. High-quality SAR images necessitate low ambiguity, high SNR, and low coherent speckle. We therefore integrate regularization priors and PnP priors for azimuth ambiguity suppression, sparsity inducing and despeckling. The proposed method’s performance is evaluated through experiments on both simulated and QILU-1 satellite SAR data.

Rethinking the key Factors for the Generalization of Remote Sensing Stereo Matching Networks

Stereo matching, a critical step of 3D reconstruction, has fully shifted towards deep learning due to its strong feature representation of remote sensing images. However, ground truth for stereo matching task relies on expensive airborne LiDAR data, thus making it difficult to obtain enough samples for supervised learning. To improve the generalization ability of stereo matching networks on cross-domain data from different sensors and scenarios, in this paper, we dedicate to study key training factors from three perspectives. (1) For the selection of training dataset, it is important to select data with similar regional target distribution as the test set instead of utilizing data from the same sensor. (2) For model structure, cascaded structure that flexibly adapts to different sizes of features is preferred. (3) For training manner, unsupervised methods generalize better than supervised methods, and we design an unsupervised early-stop strategy to help retain the best model with pre-trained weights as the basis. Extensive experiments are conducted to support the previous findings, on the basis of which we present an unsupervised stereo matching network with good generalization performance. SyntheticAperture Radar (SAR) is an active microwave imaging system, which can provide all-time and allweather imaging with a wide observation range. In sub-meter high-resolution SAR images, man-made metallic targets, such as pylons, can be easily detected and their details can be obtained. Therefore, pylon detection using high-resolution SAR images has its unique advantages. To solve the problem that traditional pylon detection methods in SAR images require the manual design of feature extractors and perform poorly in terms of realtime requirements, an effective and fast framework for pylon detection in SAR images is proposed in this paper. It combines Faster R-CNN and sliding window algorithm to detect pylons in large-scene SAR images. Besides, it effectively improves detection accuracy by using data augmentation. The proposed method can detect up to 97.6% on the test set and 80% in largescene GF-3 SAR images. The average time cost of detection is 0. 06s for a slice image and 90s for a large-scale SAR image. Experiments demonstrate good performance in detection rate and instantaneity.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is extensively employed in earth remote sensing, including both civilian and military sectors. Currently, establishing the correspondence between strong scattering regions in SAR images and the 3D geometry of the target has become a research hotspot. Traditional methods based on scattering center modeling overly rely on prior knowledge and manual annotation. However, neural network-based approaches often lack the constraints of SAR imaging principles when performing feature extraction. In this paper, we propose a method for analyzing strong scattering in SAR images based on a differentiable simulator to visualize the correspondence between strong scattering in SAR images and the 3D geometry of the target. Specifically, the differentiable simulator accumulates the scattering intensity in the scattering simulation stage to generate simulated SAR images at multi-pose. By computing the loss with the SAR image in the dataset (ground truth), the differentiable simulator can provide a direct mapping from the strong scattering in SAR images to the target's 3D structures. The effectiveness of the method is validated on a dataset of simulated SAR images based on the MSTAR. From the result we obtained, the correspondence between the 3D structures of the target model and the strong scattering in the image can be intuitively and clearly determined.

Integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) plays a crucial role in urban area surveillance and situational awareness, benefiting from the low cost, small size, and high flexibility of SAR carried by drones. However, the dense arrangement of high-rise buildings in urban environments creates Urban Canyons and numerous visual blind spots due to occlusion, which weakens the perception capability of SAR. Additionally, SAR imaging results of moving vehicles on the roads between buildings result in severe defocusing due to their non-cooperative motion. In this paper, we establish a vehicle signal model for SAR imaging with UAVs that considers the vehicle body’s translation and the wheels’ rotation. The range history modulation and imaging characteristics of returns caused by translation and micro-motion are derived. Simulation results validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis, and the proposed theory helps explain SAR imaging results, providing support for high-precision focusing and three-dimensional imaging of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) SAR images.

Stereo matching in remote sensing has recently garnered increased attention, primarily focusing on supervised learning. However, datasets with ground truth generated by expensive airbone Lidar exhibit limited quantity and diversity, constraining the effectiveness of supervised networks. In contrast, unsupervised learning methods can leverage the increasing availability of very-high-resolution (VHR) remote sensing images, offering considerable potential in the realm of stereo matching. Motivated by this intuition, we propose a novel unsupervised stereo matching network for VHR remote sensing images. A light-weight module to bridge confidence with predicted error is introduced to refine the core model. Robust unsupervised losses are formulated to enhance network convergence. The experimental results on US3D and WHU-Stereo datasets demonstrate that the proposed network achieves superior accuracy compared to other unsupervised networks and exhibits better generalization capabilities than supervised models. The real-time mapping of street atmospheric pollution concentration does play an important role because its knowledge is crucial for strategy-makers to make more effective control strategies to decrease urban atmospheric pollution and improving urban atmospheric environment. Combining the conventional methods (e.g. the dispersion model prediction and neural network prediction) and mobile measurement technology (e.g. the GMAP vehicle) which their characteristics are complementary, a linear model is proposed and then a fusion approach called weighting filter derived from the concept of Kalman filter. Moreover, a self-tuning regulator is introduced to adjust the parameters of filter for the changing noise statistical characteristics over time which mainly caused by season switch. The performances of asymptotic stability and asymptotic optimality are both mathematically proven. Finally a simulation test is conducted to verify this approach.

High-accuracy waterline mapping with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is a challenging task because of the inhomogeneities of SAR imagery caused by the speckle noise and complex terrain. This paper presents a novel method for waterline mapping with subpixel accuracy. The proposed method mainly consists of three steps. Firstly, an improved Non-Local filter is adapted to suppress the speckle noise. Secondly, a Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm is used to extract the pixel-level waterline. Thirdly, along the pixel-level waterline, a novel subpixel-scale waterline extraction method based on bicubic convolution and Geometric Active Contour (GAC) model is presented to further improve the accuracy of the waterline. Without loss of generality, the Danjiangkou reservoir (DJKR), which is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia, is selected as a study case. SAR images from Chinese GaoFen-3 (GF-3) satellite working on different modes are processed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

Analysis of the Reconstruction Accuracy of Compact Polarized SAR Pseudo Quad-Pol Data for Use in Ocean Surface Observations

This paper assesses the capability of Compact Polarized (CP) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to explore ocean surface backscattering by reconstructing the pseudo quad-pol data. Besides using Souyris’s or Nord’s algorithms, 8 scenes of Radarsat-2 quad-polarized images are used to develop an empirical model for estimating the initial value of N in Collins’ algorithm. The robustness the three published algorithms are discussed together with the reconstruction error of polarization scattering matrix [S]. The comparisons show that Collins’ algorithm is superior to the other two algorithms in terms of reconstruction errors for the hh, vv, especially, the hv channels. In addition, the influence of each algorithm on polarimetric parameters is investigated. Based on the retrieval of the polarimetric parameters, it is concluded that Souyris’s, Nord’s and Collins’ algorithms all have similar (high) accuracies for co-polarization backscattering coefficient σ0HH, σ0VV, co-polarization correlation coefficient ρ and first eigenvalue l1, while for cross-polarization backscattering coefficient σ0HV and scattering angle α, the accuracy of Collins’ algorithm is better than that of Souyris’s or Nord’s’. Although all three algorithms produced low accuracies for second eigenvalue l2, third eigenvalue l3, scattering entropy H and scattering anisotropy A, the results obtained using Collins’ algorithm were better than those produced by the other two algorithms. © 2022, The Authors. Some applications of the interconnected embedded systems such as sensor networks rely on all nodes in the network to execute certain tasks simultaneously. To meet this demand for simultaneity, a multi-timer model based fully distributed task synchronization algorithm is proposed in this paper. In this multi-timer model, each node containing an embedded system is characterized by a timer. The microcontrollers (MCUs) within the interconnected embedded systems are switched to the assigned tasks by timer interrupts. Each timer decides when to trigger interrupts by only using the information from its neighbors. Task synchronization is realized by using the proposed synchronization algorithm. Some simulation examples are presented in the end to verify the effectiveness of the proposed synchronization algorithm.
