Short text classification, as a research subtopic in natural language processing, is more challenging due to its semantic sparsity and insufficient labeled samples in practical scenarios. We propose a novel model named MI-DELIGHT for short text classification in this work. Specifically, it first performs multi-source information (i.e., statistical information, linguistic information, and factual information) exploration to alleviate the sparsity issues. Then, the graph learning approach is adopted to learn the representation of short texts, which are presented in graph forms. Moreover, we introduce a dual-level (i.e., instance-level and cluster-level) contrastive learning auxiliary task to effectively capture different-grained contrastive information within massive unlabeled data. Meanwhile, previous models merely perform the main task and auxiliary tasks in parallel, without considering the relationship among tasks. Therefore, we introduce a hierarchical architecture to explicitly model the correlations between tasks. We conduct extensive experiments across various benchmark datasets, demonstrating that MI-DELIGHT significantly surpasses previous competitive models. An expansion of Internet of Things (IoTs) has led to significant challenges in wireless data harvesting, dissemination, and energy management due to the massive volumes of data generated by IoT devices. These challenges are exacerbated by data redundancy arising from spatial and temporal correlations. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel data-driven collaborative beamforming (CB)-based communication framework for IoT networks. Specifically, the framework integrates CB with an overlap-based multi-hop routing protocol (OMRP) to enhance data transmission efficiency while mitigating energy consumption and addressing hot spot issues in remotely deployed IoT networks. Based on the data aggregation to a specific node by OMRP, we formulate a node selection problem for the CB stage, with the objective of optimizing uplink transmission energy consumption. Given the complexity of the problem, we introduce a softmax-based proximal policy optimization with long-short-term memory (SoftPPO-LSTM) algorithm to intelligently select CB nodes for improving transmission efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed OMRP improves network lifetime by 17% compared to benchmark routing protocols, while the SoftPPO-LSTM method for CB node selection achieves an 8.3% increase in throughput over benchmark algorithms. The results also reveal that the combined OMRP with the SoftPPO-LSTM method effectively mitigates hot spot problems and offers superior performance compared to traditional strategies. © 2014 IEEE.

VECLLF: A vehicle-edge collaborative lifelong learning framework for anomaly detection in VANETs

With the rapid development of intelligent connected vehicles, Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is widely used in intelligent transportation systems. VANETs are vulnerable to attacks in their operating environments, such as denial of service (DoS) attacks and injection attacks. Thus, the development of an efficient anomaly detection framework is a promising solution. Most existing methods can only detect known attacks, are less efficient in detecting unknown attacks, and fail to deal with them. To solve these problems, the lifelong learning framework (LLF) is introduced, which aims to store and label suspicious data by applying blockchain and then retrain the model. However, existing LLFs are overly idealized as they do not adequately consider the key issues of label budget and storage space. To improve the practicality of existing methods, this paper proposes a novel LLF based on the existing LLF, called Vehicle Edge Collaborative Lifelong Learning Framework (VECLLF), which can deploy the model update task on the edge server. Specifically, the proposed anomaly detection module based on ensemble active learning is used to achieve high-performance detection under a limited label budget, the proposed incremental learning module based on a sample library continuously learns the model by replaying representative samples within limited storage space, the proposed optimization-based feature selection module is used to remove redundant and interfering features, and the explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) module is used to explain the model to ensure its interpretability. In addition, the blockchain-based database (BC-DB) module is used to help store suspicious data and interact with security agencies to label it. We conducted experiments on two public datasets, AWID2 and CICIDS2017, and the results show that VECLLF outperforms state-of-the-art anomaly detection models and existing LLF, with F1-scores exceeding 97% on both datasets. UAV-Assisted Joint Mobile Edge Computing and Data Collection via Matching-Enabled Deep Reinforcement Learning

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) and data collection (DC) have been popular research issues. Different from existing works that consider MEC and DC scenarios separately, this paper investigates a multi-UAV-assisted joint MEC-DC system. Specifically, we formulate a joint optimization problem to minimize the MEC latency and maximize the collected data volume. This problem can be classified as a non-convex mixed integer programming problem that exhibits long-term optimization and dynamics. Thus, we propose a deep reinforcement learning-based approach that jointly optimizes the UAV movement, user transmit power, and user association in real time to solve the problem efficiently. Specifically, we reformulate the optimization problem into an action space-reduced Markov decision process (MDP) and optimize the user association by using a two-phase matching-based association (TMA) strategy. Subsequently, we propose a soft actor-critic (SAC)-based approach that integrates the proposed TMA strategy (SAC-TMA) to solve the formulated joint optimization problem collaboratively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed SAC-TMA is able to coordinate the two subsystems and can effectively reduce the system latency and improve the data collection volume compared with other benchmark algorithms. © 2025 IEEE. Prompt-guided orthogonal multimodal fusion for cancer survival prediction

Cancer survival prediction can assist clinicians in developing personalized treatment plans for patients. Comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment require integrating macroscopic and microscopic imaging. However, significant discrepancies in the spatial resolution and anatomical scale between imaging modalities hinder existing multimodal fusion methods from effectively learning correlated semantic features with limited datasets. In this work, we introduce a prompt-guided orthogonal multimodal fusion strategy (POMF) for fusing multimodal medical images across anatomical scales. POMF utilizes modality-specific prompts to fine-tune pretrained models, facilitating bias adaptation to medical imaging features while ensuring more computationally efficient training. A modality consistency-discrepancy prototype is designed as the modality-inherent prompt in POMF, disentangling the multimodal features and bridging the potential correlations across the orthogonal modalities. POMF is validated on a glioma survival prediction task using paired radiology and pathology images. The experiment results suggest that POMF achieves superior C-index with existing full-tuning and prompt-tuning methods. Additionally, the ablation studies demonstrate that POMF is adaptable to various architectures of pretrained encoders and multiple multimodal fusion strategies on cross-scale medical images. © 2025 Elsevier Inc.

Hyponymy Graph Model for Word Semantic Similarity Measurement

Measuring word semantic similarity is a generic problem with a broad range of applications such as ontology mapping, computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. Previous approaches to computing word semantic similarity did not consider concept occurrence frequency and word’s sense number. This paper introduced Hyponymy graph, and based on which proposed a novel word semantic similarity model. For two words to be compared, we first retrieve their related concepts; then produce lowest common ancestor matrix and distance matrix between concepts; finally calculate distance-based similarity and information-based similarity, which are integrated to get final semantic similarity. The main contribution of our method is that both concept occurrence frequency and word’s sense number are taken into account. This similarity measurement more closely fits with human rating and effectively simulates human thinking process. Our experimental results on benchmark dataset M&C and R&G with Word Net2.1 as platform demonstrate roughly 0.9%–1.2%improvements over existing best approaches.

GraCEImpute: A novel graph clustering autoencoder approach for imputation of single-cell RNA-seq data

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) technology establishes a unique view for elucidating cellular heterogeneity in various biological systems. Yet the scRNA-seq data is compromised by a high dropout rate due to the technological limitation, and the substantial data loss poses computational challenges on subsequent analyses. This study introduces a novel graph clustering autoencoder (GCAE)-based imputation approach (GraCEImpute) to address the challenge of missing data in scRNA-seq data. Our comprehensive evaluation demonstrates that the GraCEImpute model outperforms existing approaches in accurately imputing dropout zeros within scRNA-seq data. The proposed GraCEImpute model also demonstrates the significantly enhanced quality of downstream scRNA-seq data analyses, including clustering, differential gene expression (DEG) analysis, and cell trajectory inference. These improvements underscore the GraCEImpute model's potential to facilitate a deeper understanding of cellular processes and heterogeneity through the scRNA-seq data analyses. Dilated Convolutional Pixels Affinity Network for Weakly Supervised Semantic Segmentation

This paper studies semantic segmentation primarily under image-level weak-supervision. Most stateof-the-art technologies have recently used deep classification networks to create small and sparse discriminatory seed regions of each interest target as pseudo-labels for training segmentation networks, which achieve inferior performance compared with the fully supervised *** propose a Dilated convolutional pixels affinity network(DCPAN) to localize and expand the seed regions of objects to bridge this gap. Although introduced dilated convolutional units enable capture of additional location information of objects, it falsely highlighted true negative regions as dilated rate enlarge. To address this problem,we properly integrate dilated convolutional units with different dilated rates and self-attention mechanisms to obtain pixel affinity measure matrix for promoting classification network to generate high-quality object seed regions as pseudo-labels; thus, the performance of the segmentation network is boosted. Furthermore,although our approach seems simple, our method obtains a competitive performance, and experiments show that the performance of DCPAN outperforms other state-ofart approaches in weakly-supervised settings, which only use image-level labels on the Pascal VOC 2012 dataset.

The servo motor’s flexible acceleration/deceleration(acc/dec) control is an emerging research topic in the automation field. A velocity control algorithm based on trigonometric function is proposed in this *** required parameters, it transforms trigonometric calculations into elementary mathematical operations and calculates the velocity controlling values iteratively, which could avoid trigonometric calculation and reduce the computation time. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is suitable for implementation on field programmable gate arrays and achieves a flexible controlling, enhancing both the equipment’s stability and reliability. It is promising to significantly improve the high-speed computerized numerical control equipment’s controlling accuracy, without a huge hardware resource consumption.

In recent years, microRNA (miRNA) has been recognized as crucial in the progression of human diseases. However, existing computational methods for identifying miRNA-disease associations often overlook the rich association information contained in specific long-distance pathways and lack effective exploration of potential associations. In this study, we propose a biologically interpretable “similarity-association-similarity” metapath and heterogeneous-hyper network (HeteroHyperNet) learning approach for miRNA-disease association prediction (MHMDA). In MHMDA, a “similarity-association-similarity” multi-hop metapaths learning method based on hierarchical attention perception is proposed to explore specific long-distance associated pathway information connecting potentially associated miRNAs and diseases. In addition, a HeteroHyperNet learning approach integrating heterogeneous network and hyper network is designed to progressively learn direct association information and potential association information between miRNA and disease. The “similarity-association-similarity” metapath with hierarchical attention significantly enhances the learning of long-distance biological associations, while the HeteroHyperNet comprehensively learns the known and potential associations of miRNA-disease, greatly improving the richness and accuracy of information. A large number of experimental results show that MHMDA has demonstrated excellent performance in the prediction of miRNA-disease association. In addition, cross independent dataset experiment and cold start experiment on miRNA and disease prove the effectiveness of MHMDA on sparse association points, and its stability and reliability in predicting potential miRNA-disease association are further confirmed.
