Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled wireless powered communication networks (WPCN) are promising technologies in Internet of Things (IoTs). However, energy-constrained devices and connectivity in complex environments are two major challenges for IoTs. We consider a UAV-enabled WPCN scenario that a UAV can connect with the ground IoT devices (IoTDs). To connect and fly faster, UAV needs to be scheduled reasonably and the corresponding trajectory should be optimized. Thus, we formulate a UAV scheduling and trajectory optimization problem (USTOP) to minimize the total time so that improving the charging and transmission efficiency. Since conventional methods are difficult to solve USTOP, we propose an improved simulated annealing (ISA) with the variable size changing mechanism, the conflict resolution mechanism and the hybrid evolution method to solve it. Simulation results verify the effectiveness and performance of ISA under different scales of the network, and the stability of the proposed algorithm is verified.

Multifaceted User Modeling in Recommendation: A Federated Foundation Models Approach

Multifaceted user modeling aims to uncover fine-grained patterns and learn representations from user data, revealing their diverse interests and characteristics, such as profile, preference, and personality. Recent studies on foundation model-based recommendation have emphasized the Transformer architecture's remarkable ability to capture complex, non-linear user-item interaction relationships. This paper aims to advance foundation model-based recommendersystems by introducing enhancements to multifaceted user modeling capabilities. We propose a novel Transformer layer designed specifically for recommendation, using the self-attention mechanism to capture sequential user-item interaction patterns. Specifically, we design a group gating network to identify user groups, enabling hierarchical discovery across different layers, thereby capturing the multifaceted nature of user interests through multiple Transformer layers. Furthermore, to broaden the data scope and further enhance multifaceted user modeling, we extend the framework to a federated setting, enabling the use of private datasets while ensuring privacy. The present study explores the intricacies of causal relationship extraction, a vital component in the pursuit of causality knowledge. Causality is frequently intertwined with temporal elements, as the progression from cause to effect is not instantaneous but rather ensconced in a temporal dimension. Thus, the extraction of temporal causality holds paramount significance in the field. In light of this, we propose a method for extracting causality from the text that integrates both temporal and causal relations, with a particular focus on the time aspect. To this end, we first compile a dataset that encompasses temporal relationships. Subsequently, we present a novel model, TC-GAT, which employs a graph attention mechanism to assign weights to the temporal relationships and leverages a causal knowledge graph to determine the adjacency matrix. Additionally, we implement an equilibrium mechanism to regulate the interplay between temporal and causal relations. Our experiments demonstrate that our proposed method significantly surpasses baseline models in the task of causality extraction.

In this paper, we propose collaborative beamforming (CB) in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted communication networks to improve transmission data rate with minimum energy consumption. Specifically, CB allows a group of UAVs forming a virtual element antenna array (VEAA) and transmitting data collaboratively in a synchronous manner through a high-gain mainlobe (ML) beam. The goal is to optimize the deployment locations of UAVs in the VEAA and excitation current weights for performing CB transmissions considering the energy cost for UAV deployment. Accordingly, we formulate an Energy-Efficient Communication Multi-objective Optimization Problem (EECMOP) to jointly maximize the transmission rate and minimize the maximum sidelobe level (SLL) as well as UAV energy consumption. Then, we propose an Enhanced Multi Objective Ant Lion Optimizer (EMOALO) algorithm which incorporates a chaos theory to develop chaotic initialization and adjustable mode operators for solving the problem. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the EMOALO algorithm in improving energy efficiency for UAV-assisted communication networks.

Spatial mass spectrometry imaging (SMSI) technology has enabled the characterization of biomolecule patterns within the tissue microenvironment, yet its analyses suffer from substantial noise. The lack of effective methods for exploiting multi-view features (e.g., spatial location) has hindered their elucidation ability for tissue heterogeneity. Here, we propose MSG, a multimodal modal that integrates histology, spatial location, and MSI data, in deciphering tissue structure by graph neural network. Specifically, MSG learns low-dimensional representations by aggregating histomorphological features from neighboring tiles via graph attention autoencoder. MSG outperforms other methods in identifying spatial domains and denoising data. The subsequent domain-guided differential expression analysis of the denoised data enables the identification of ions with significantly enriched patterns within the recognized domains. MSG exhibits its versatility in handling SMSI data from various platforms. © 2023 IEEE.

Microvascular invasion (MVI) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is of great guiding significance for the formulating treatment strategies and accessing the prognosis before the surgery. However, in traditional medicine, the gold standard for the diagnosis of MVI is obtained by examining pathological images which can only be obtained by sampling and sectioning tumors after surgery. At this time, MVI results have lost the timeliness of guiding tumor resection surgery. In order to solve this problem, existing studies began to use deep learning-based methods for preoperative prediction of MVI using non-invasive imaging. Most of these methods adopt the fusion methods of multi-sequence images to predict MVI, but fail to make full use of the characteristics of multiply sequences as prior knowledge to combine into the model, resulting in no further improvement of prediction performance. So we propose a multi-sequence image difference and correlation deep learning model. The model can extract the difference and correlation information between sequences from different scales and combine them into the model. To validate proposed model, we collected a data set consists of 120 HCC patients, including 50 MVI-positive patients. Compared with existing studies, our method has greatly improved in all evaluation metrics. © 2022 IEEE.

Anonymisation technique has been extensively studied and widely applied for privacy-preserving data publishing. However, most existing methods ignore personal anonymity requirements. In these approaches, the microdata consist of three categories of attribute: explicit-identifier, quasi-identifier and sensitive attribute. In fact, the data sensitivity should be determined by individuals. An attribute is semi-sensitive if it contains both QI and sensitive values. In this paper, we propose a novel anonymisation approach, called local anatomy, to address personalised privacy protection. Local anatomy partitions the tuples who consider the value as sensitive into buckets inside each attribute. We conduct some experiments to illustrate that local anatomy can protect all the sensitive values and preserve great information utility. Additionally, we also present the concept of intelligent anonymisation system as our direction of future work. © 2021 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The secondary structure of RNA can regulate the interaction between RNA and protein and perform various biological tasks through specific folding shapes, which plays an important role in revealing biomolecular mechanisms and developing new vaccines and therapeutic drugs. However, existing RNA secondary structure prediction methods based on thermodynamics and traditional neural network models usually lack the ability to model long-distance dependencies of RNA molecules and cannot handle complex non-nested structures in RNA molecules. In this paper, we propose a multi-modal contrastive learning method SFMFold based on state space model, which captures long-distance interactions in RNA sequences through RNA sequence representation learning part, and models the structure of RNA molecules through RNA structure representation learning part. Finally, the features of the two modalities are aligned and deeply fused to obtain the final RNA molecule prediction map. We test SFMFold on several datasets, and the experiments show that our proposed model shows excellent performance in cross-family prediction and long sequence prediction tasks. In addition, SFMFold can also effectively predict non-nested structures such as pseudoknot with better accuracy than the SOTA methods. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Efficient traffic signal control is a cost-effective way to ease urban traffic congestion. Multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL) has become a widely adopted method for optimizing traffic signal control (TSC). However, existing MARL-based methods often focus on a single optimization objective, lacking a comprehensive consideration of traffic efficiency, environmental pollution, and traffic safety. Simultaneously, these methods often fail to effectively capture the dynamic and complex interactions among agents in multi-intersection scenarios, which negatively impacts traffic efficiency. In this article, we propose a collaborative MARL-based method for multi-objective TSC, called CMRM. First, we introduce a multi-objective reward mechanism that integrates traffic efficiency, environmental impact, and safety to guide agents toward more comprehensive optimization. Second, we design a cooperation enhancement module (CEM) based on the graph attention mechanism to dynamically capture neighboring agents’ state information. This mitigates the partial observability problem in independent proximal policy optimization (IPPO) and enhances the model’s ability to capture dynamic and complex interactions among agents. Finally, we assess the performance of the proposed CMRM method using SUMO on two real traffic networks. Experimental results demonstrate that our method significantly improves traffic efficiency while reducing environmental pollution and enhancing traffic safety, compared to the best performing baseline, our method reduces CO2 emission by approximately 17.53% and 9.57%, and lowers vehicle collision risks by 44.39% and 42.85% in two different traffic networks. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

With the recent success of large language models, particularly foundation models with generalization abilities, applying foundation models for recommendations becomes a new paradigm to improve existing recommendation systems. It becomes a new open challenge to enable the foundation model to capture user preference changes in a timely manner with reasonable communication and computation costs while preserving privacy. This paper proposes a novel federated adaptation mechanism to enhance the foundation model-based recommendation system in a privacy-preserving manner. Specifically, each client will learn a lightweight personalized adapter using its private data. The adapter then collaborates with pre-trained foundation models to provide recommendation service efficiently with fine-grained manners. Importantly, users’ private behavioral data remains secure as it is not shared with the server. This data localization-based privacy preservation is embodied via the federated learning framework. The model can ensure that shared knowledge is incorporated into all adapters while simultaneously preserving each user’s personal preferences.
