With the boosting of neural networks, recommendation methods become significantly improved by their powerful ability of prediction and inference. Existing neural-network based recommender systems (NN-RSs) usually first employ matrix embedding (ME) as a pre-process to learn users’ and items’ representations (latent vectors), then input these representations to a specific modified neural network framework to make accurate Top-k recommendations. Obviously, the performance of ME has a significant effect on RS models. However, most NN-RSs focus on accuracy by building representations from the direct user-item interactions (e.g., user-item rating matrix), while ignoring the underlying relatedness between users and items (e.g., users who rate the same ratings for the same items should be embedded into similar representations), which is an ideological disadvantage. On the other hand, ME models directly employ inner products as a default loss function metric that cannot project users and items into a proper latent space, which is a methodological disadvantage. In this paper, we propose a supervised collaborative representation learning model - Magnetic Metric Learning (MML) - to map users and items into a unified latent vector space, enhancing the representation learning for NN-RSs. Firstly, MML utilizes dual triplets to model not only the observed relationships between users and items, but also the underlying relationships between users as well as items to overcome the ideological disadvantage. Specifically, a modified metric-based dual loss function is proposed in MML to gather similar entities and disperse the dissimilar ones. With MML, we can easily compare all the relationships (user to user, item to item, user to item) according to the weighted metric, which overcomes the methodological disadvantage. A process of gene expression which is designed and modeled by machine language, and by using to process complex data. At the molecular biological level, classifying and sorting the related substances involved in the transcription and translation processes, and using a rule-based modeling method to simulate the gene expression process. By entering the initial data of the designed gene into the program, the computer can give the result of the gene expression process. The experimental data shows that this gene expression result is correct. In this paper, we summarize the rules of the transcription and translation of the gene expression process and the basic part of the central dogma, and then formalize it, and then establish a model to realize the biological information processing in uncomplicated situations, and then realize the gene expression process on the computer. © WCSE 2020.

Divergent Projection Analysis for Unsupervised Dimensionality Reduction

Principal component analysis (PCA) has been extended to a series of classical methods in dimensionality reduction for unsu¬pervised learning. However, the differences among the projected data samples may not be sufficient by PCA, causing problems both in data visualization and recognition. Though some nonlinear dimensionality reduction methods have been proposed to preserve the samples’ differences, their nonlinear mappings hide the relationships among the data features, e.g., Isometric mapping (Isomap) and Locally Linear Embedding (LLE). In this paper, we propose a linear dimensionality reduction method, called Divergent Projection Analysis (DPA), to preserve the largest differences among the samples. Our DPA projects the sam¬ples into a low-dimensional space such that any two projected samples have a certain distance, resulting in solving a nonconvex optimization problem. The nonconvex problem is solved by the subgradient descent algorithm and particle swarm optimiza¬tion algorithm, and their solution qualities are compared in the experiments. Experiments on a synthetic dataset and three face recognition problems confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method compared with other state-of-the-art methods.

Collaboration and Controversy Among Experts: Rumor Early Detection by Tuning a Comment Generator

Over the past decade, social media platforms have been key in spreading rumors, leading to significant negative impacts. To counter this, the community has developed various Rumor Detection (RD) algorithms to automatically identify them using user comments as evidence. However, these RD methods often fail in the early stages of rumor propagation when only limited user comments are available, leading the community to focus on a more challenging topic named Rumor Early Detection (RED). Typically, existing RED methods learn from limited semantics in early comments. However, our preliminary experiment reveals that the RED models always perform best when the number of training and test comments is consistently extensive. This inspires us to address the RED issue by generating more human-like comments to support this hypothesis. To implement this idea, we tune a comment generator by simulating expert collaboration and controversy and propose a new RED framework named CameRed. Specifically, we integrate a mixture-of-expert structure into a generative language model and present a novel routing network for expert collaboration. Additionally, we synthesize a knowledgeable dataset and design an adversarial learning strategy to align the style of generated comments with real-world comments. We further integrate generated and original comments with a mutual controversy fusion module. Experimental results show that CameRed outperforms state-of-the-art RED baseline models and generation methods, demonstrating its effectiveness. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Task Delay and Energy Consumption Minimization for Low-altitude MEC via Evolutionary Multi-objective Deep Reinforcement Learning

The low-altitude economy (LAE), driven by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other aircraft, has revolutionized fields such as transportation, agriculture, and environmental monitoring. In the upcoming six-generation (6G) era, UAV-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) is particularly crucial in challenging environments such as mountainous or disaster-stricken areas. The computation task offloading problem is one of the key issues in UAV-assisted MEC, primarily addressing the trade-off between minimizing the task delay and the energy consumption of the UAV. In this paper, we consider a UAV-assisted MEC system where the UAV carries the edge servers to facilitate task offloading for ground devices (GDs), and formulate a calculation delay and energy consumption multi-objective optimization problem (CDECMOP) to simultaneously improve the performance and reduce the cost of the system. Then, by modeling the formulated problem as a multi-objective Markov decision process (MOMDP), we propose a multi-objective deep reinforcement learning (DRL) algorithm within an evolutionary framework to dynamically adjust the weights and obtain non-dominated policies. Moreover, to ensure stable convergence and improve performance, we incorporate a target distribution learning (TDL) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can better balance multiple optimization objectives and obtain superior non-dominated solutions compared to other methods. The task of talking head generation for the media interaction system is to take images and audio clips of the target face as input, and generate a realistic video of the target synchronized with the audio. Most of the existing works directly take all the information in the image as input, which causes the problem of feature information redundancy. At the same time, in the stage of feature fusion, the image and audio information is directly spliced, and the relationship between the two modal information is ignored. To solve the problems, we initially implement the disentanglement of image by introducing a loss function to separate the image into identity features and content-related features. Besides, we introduce a multi-head selfattention mechanism to learn the relationship between the two modal information of image and audio, and implement the full fusion of multi-modal information. In addition, we validate the effectiveness of our model through extensive quantitative and qualitative analysis of two datasets. Extensive experiments show the superiority of the proposed model in all aspects.

A Novel Neural-symbolic System under Statistical Relational Learning

A key objective in the field of artificial intelligence is to develop cognitive models that can exhibit human-like intellectual capabilities. One promising approach to achieving this is through neural-symbolic systems, which combine the strengths of deep learning and symbolic reasoning. However, current methodologies in this area face limitations in integration, generalization, and interpretability. To address these challenges, we propose a neural-symbolic framework based on statistical relational learning, referred to as NSF-SRL. This framework effectively integrates deep learning models with symbolic reasoning in a mutually beneficial manner. In NSF-SRL, the results of symbolic reasoning are utilized to refine and correct the predictions made by deep learning models, while deep learning models enhance the efficiency of the symbolic reasoning process. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that our approach achieves high performance and exhibits effective generalization in supervised learning, weakly supervised and zero-shot learning tasks. Furthermore, we introduce a quantitative strategy to evaluate the interpretability of the model’s predictions, visualizing the corresponding logic rules that contribute to these predictions and providing insights into the reasoning process. We believe that this approach sets a new standard for neural-symbolic systems and will drive future research in the field of general artificial intelligence. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. Spatial transcriptomics (ST) has enabled us elucidating tumor microenvironments, however, the technological limitations without single-cell resolution severely hinder its application. Here, we propose CellMirror, an interpretable contrastive learning model to decipher heterogeneous cell populations in ST data by single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) data. Specifically, CellMirror learns the disentangled shared (representing biological variations in both data) and salient features (specific to ST data) by two contrastive variational encoders, while constructing the relations between genes and features by a shared linear decoder. In various cancer samples, CellMirror outperforms other tools in learning common features for label transfer, and interpretation of features. Particularly, in breast cancer studies, CellMirror detects finer domains in ST data missed by other methods, and is robust to dissect cell populations in ST data using independent scRNA-seq data. These results demonstrate applications of CellMirror in interpreting the complex tumor structure in ST data by integrating scRNA-seq data. © 2023 IEEE.

Are Your Apps Accessible? A GCN-based Accessibility Checker for Low Vision Users

Context: Accessibility issues (e.g., small size and narrow interval) in mobile applications (apps) lead to obstacles for billions of low vision users in interacting with Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). Although GUI accessibility scanning tools exist, most of them perform rule-based check relying on complex GUI hierarchies. This might make them detect invisible redundant information, cannot handle small deviations, omit similar components, and is hard to extend. Objective: In this paper, we propose a novel approach, named ALVIN (Accessibility Checker for Low Vision), which represents the GUI as a graph and adopts the Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (GCN) to label inaccessible components. Method: ALVIN removes invisible views to prevent detecting redundancy and uses annotations from low vision users to handle small deviations. Also, the GCN model could consider the relations between GUI components, connecting similar components and reducing the possibility of omission. ALVIN only requires users to annotate the relevant dataset when detecting new kinds of issues. Results: Our experiments on 48 apps demonstrate the effectiveness of ALVIN, with precision of 83.5%, recall of 78.9%, and F1-score of 81.2%, outperforming baseline methods. In RQ2, the usefulness is verified through 20 issues submitted to open-source apps. The RQ3 also illustrates the GCN model is better than other models. Conclusion: To summarize, our proposed approach can effectively detect accessibility issues in GUIs for low vision users, thereby guiding developers in fixing them efficiently. Multi-Objective Optimization for UAV Swarm-Assisted IoT with Virtual Antenna Arrays

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) network is a promising technology for assisting Internet-of-Things (IoT), where a UAV can use its limited service coverage to harvest and disseminate data from IoT devices with low transmission abilities. The existing UAV-assisted data harvesting and dissemination schemes largely require UAVs to frequently fly between the IoTs and access points, resulting in extra energy and time costs. To reduce both energy and time costs, a key way is to enhance the transmission performance of IoT and UAVs. In this work, we introduce collaborative beamforming into IoTs and UAVs simultaneously to achieve energy and time-efficient data harvesting and dissemination from multiple IoT clusters to remote base stations (BSs). Except for reducing these costs, another non-ignorable threat lies in the existence of the potential eavesdroppers, whereas the handling of eavesdroppers often increases the energy and time costs, resulting in a conflict with the minimization of the costs. Moreover, the importance of these goals may vary relatively in different applications. Thus, we formulate a multi-objective optimization problem (MOP) to simultaneously minimize the mission completion time, signal strength towards the eavesdropper, and total energy cost of the UAVs. We prove that the formulated MOP is an NP-hard, mixed-variable optimization, and large-scale optimization problem. Thus, we propose a swarm intelligence-based algorithm to find a set of candidate solutions with different trade-offs which can meet various requirements in a low computational complexity. We also show that swarm intelligence methods need to enhance solution initialization, solution update, and algorithm parameter update phases when dealing with mixed-variable optimization and large-scale problems. Simulation results demonstrate the proposed algorithm outperforms state-of-the-art swarm intelligence algorithms and also show that the proposed method can reduce time and energy costs significantly
