The proliferation of image manipulation tools has led to an increase in the number of manipulated images being disseminated online, posing risks like the propagation of fake news and telecom fraud. Thus, there is an increasing demand for precise, generic, and robust methods for detecting and locating manipulated images. In this paper, we propose a simple and clean model, named MEAFormer, for image forgery localization that does not heavily rely on pre-training models. MEAFormer comprises three main components: encoder network, neck network, and decoder network. Specifically, the transformer-based encoder network extracts hierarchical feature representations from the input image, providing rich contextual information in each layer. The neck network, incorporating our proposed cross-layer feature aggregation (CFA), aggregates these hierarchical features. To achieve better spatial feature co-occurrence, instead of using noise or edge artifacts, we introduce a multi-scale graph reasoning (MGR) module within the decoder network via bipartite graphs over the encoder and decoder features in a multi-scale fashion. The cross-level enhancement (CLE) further performs adjacent-level feature fusion to amplify the region-of-interests in aggregated manipulation features. Finally, the multi-exit architecture (MEA) guides the model to learn fine-grained features and segment out the manipulated region. Extensive experiments across diverse and challenging datasets conclusively establish MEAFormer’s superiority over existing state-of-the-art methods, excelling in accuracy, generalization, and robustness. © 2023, The Authors. Alzheimer's disease (AD) is progressive and gets worse with time. Early detection is an effective treatment for the disease, which can timely implement effective interventions. The multi-modal medical image contains more comprehensive and abundant information about the disease, which can reflect the different aspects of AD and reduce the potential bias in single-modal diagnosis. However, an effective and reliable solution is still lacking, which can integrate multimodal neuroimaging effectively for the precision diagnosis and treatment of AD. In this work, we proposed a feature representation and fusion model of MRI and PET scans based on a multiscale convolution network and cross-attention for AD early diagnosis, named camAD. Compared with the existing models, camAD performs better with fewer pre-processing steps. Using the Alzheimer’s disease neuroimaging initiative (ADNI) datasets, we demonstrated that integrating multi-modality data outperforms single-modality models in accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, AUC, and F1 scores. Our models exhibited significantly good accuracy and generality in four classification tasks, which provided a promising way to understand the underlying mechanisms of the disorder's progression.

Computer science labs in universities have different demands in cloud computing compared with typical IT companies. They differ greatly in software requirements and resource utilization. As an instance, we propose building a private cloud based on microservices with Docker and Kubernetes in our laboratory to match our labs' typical *** private cloud proposed in this paper is composed of multiple components such as authentication, service gateway, distributed storage, knowledge management, code management, etc. Furthermore, some typical research software systems are deployed as microservices in the private cloud. To satisfy complex software environment requirements, a multi version microservice is implemented. In our microservices platform, users can submit their own microservices and manage these microservices' life cycle through a web interface. In addition, the platform will automatically start and stop low frequency services to improve resource utilization rate. We use laboratory resources to conduct experiments and build a platform. With deploying the platform in our laboratory, it shows that the platform meets most of typical demands in research work and improves research efficiency. © 2020 IEEE.

Joint-Motion Mutual Learning for Pose Estimation in Videos

Human pose estimation in videos has long been a compelling yet challenging task within the realm of computer vision. Nevertheless, this task remains difficult because of the complex video scenes, such as video defocus and self-occlusion. Recent methods strive to integrate multi-frame visual features generated by a backbone network for pose estimation. However, they often ignore the useful joint information encoded in the initial heatmap, which is a byproduct of the backbone generation. Comparatively, methods that attempt to refine the initial heatmap fail to consider any spatiotemporal motion features. As a result, the performance of existing methods for pose estimation falls short due to the lack of ability to leverage both local joint (heatmap) information and global motion (feature) dynamics. To address this problem, we propose a novel joint-motion mutual learning framework for pose estimation, which effectively concentrates on both local joint dependency and global pixel-level motion dynamics. Specifically, we introduce a context-aware joint learner that adaptively leverages initial heatmaps and motion flow to retrieve robust local joint feature. Given that local joint feature and global motion flow are complementary, we further propose a progressive joint-motion mutual learning that synergistically exchanges information and interactively learns between joint feature and motion flow to improve the capability of the model. More importantly, to capture more diverse joint and motion cues, we theoretically analyze and propose an information orthogonality objective to avoid learning redundant information from multi-cues. Variational Wasserstein Barycenters with c-Cyclical Monotonicity Regularization

Wasserstein barycenter, built on the theory of Optimal Transport (OT), provides a powerful framework to aggregate probability distributions, and it has increasingly attracted great attention within the machine learning community. However, it is often intractable to precisely compute, especially for high dimensional and continuous settings. To alleviate this problem, we develop a novel regularization by using the fact that c-cyclical monotonicity is often necessary and sufficient conditions for optimality in OT problems, and incorporate it into the dual formulation of Wasserstein barycenters. For efficient computations, we adopt a variational distribution as the approximation of the true continuous barycenter, so as to frame the Wasserstein barycenters problem as an optimization problem with respect to variational parameters. Upon those ideas, we propose a novel end-to-end continuous approximation method, namely Variational Wasserstein Barycenters with c-Cyclical Monotonicity Regularization (VWB-CMR), given sample access to the input distributions. We show theoretical convergence analysis and demonstrate the superior performance of VWB-CMR on synthetic data and real applications of subset posterior aggregation. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Medical scene graph contributes to cognitive tasks such as question answering. An automatic medical scene graph generator can annotate medical images with scene graphs conveniently. An end-to-end model is proposed, which contains an automatic medical scene graph generator based on medical images and surgery records. The novel model can extract symptom information of the images from surgery records via name entity recognition then convert it into scene graphs. The content and format of the scene graph are pre-defined according to the features of the images. A medical scene graph (MSG) dataset is also produced. The dataset contains 116 scene graphs where each graph includes 6 to 30 entities. Experiments show that our model performs well on making scene graphs of CT coronary angiography. Significantly, the scene graphs have the type, state, location, and index of arteries. To verify the practicability of the MSG dataset, We construct an intelligent model that can generate key diagnostic results. In addition, our medical scene graph generator can be applied to other medical areas to annotate different kinds of medical images intelligently. And the MSG dataset can directly be used in other cognitive visual tasks.

Dual UAV Cluster-Assisted Maritime Physical Layer Secure Communications via Collaborative Beamforming

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be utilized as relay platforms to assist maritime wireless communications. However, complex channels and multipath effects at sea can adversely affect the quality of UAV transmitted signals. Collaborative beamforming (CB) can enhance the signal strength and range to assist the UAV relay for remote maritime communications. However, due to the open nature of UAV channels, security issue requires special consideration. This paper proposes a dual UAV cluster-assisted system via CB to achieve physical layer security in maritime wireless communications. Specifically, one UAV cluster forms a maritime UAV-enabled virtual antenna array (MUVAA) relay to forward data signals to the remote legitimate vessel, and the other UAV cluster forms an MUVAA jammer to send jamming signals to the remote eavesdropper. In this system, we formulate a secure and energy-efficient maritime communication multi-objective optimization problem (SEMCMOP) to maximize the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the legitimate vessel, minimize the SINR of the eavesdropping vessel and minimize the total flight energy consumption of UAVs. Since the SEMCMOP is an NP-hard and large-scale optimization problem, we propose an improved swarm intelligence optimization algorithm with chaotic solution initialization and hybrid solution update strategies to solve the problem. Simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm outperforms other comparison algorithms, and it can achieve more efficient signal transmission by using the CB-based method. TemporalPaD: a reinforcement-learning framework for temporal feature representation and dimension reduction

Recent advancements in feature representation and dimension reduction have highlighted their crucial role in enhancing the efficacy of predictive modeling. This work introduces TemporalPaD, a novel end-to-end deep learning framework designed for temporal pattern datasets. TemporalPaD integrates reinforcement learning (RL) with neural networks to achieve concurrent feature representation and feature reduction. The framework consists of three cooperative modules: a Policy Module, a Representation Module, and a Classification Module, structured based on the Actor-Critic (AC) framework. The Policy Module, responsible for dimensionality reduction through RL, functions as the actor, while the Representation Module for feature extraction and the Classification Module collectively serve as the critic. We comprehensively evaluate TemporalPaD using 29 UCI datasets, a well-known benchmark for validating feature reduction algorithms, through 10 independent tests and 10-fold cross-validation. Additionally, given that TemporalPaD is specifically designed for time series data, we apply it to a real-world DNA classification problem involving enhancer category and enhancer strength. The results demonstrate that TemporalPaD is an efficient and effective framework for achieving feature reduction, applicable to both structured data and sequence datasets. S3map: Semi-Supervised Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis with Masked Aspect Prediction

Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (ABSA) refers to a fine-grained task of detecting the sentiment polarities of sentences at the aspect level. To resolve this task, training samples of ABSA must be annotated with aspect words and the corresponding sentiment polarities. However, collecting such fine-grained training samples is expensive and time consuming. Therefore the available ABSA training samples are often scarce. To break the data scarcity challenge of ABSA, we investigate Semi-supervised Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis (SemiABSA), which trains ABSA models by using a limited amount of expensive labeled sentences and more unlabeled-yet-cheaper ones. We propose a novel SemiABSA framework, namely Semi-supervised aspect-based Sentiment analysis with Masked aspect prediction (S3MAP), built on the self-training paradigm. For unlabeled sentences, we form pseudo-aspect words and pseudo-sentiment polarities and improve model training. Specifically, a BERT-Encoder-based Masked Aspect Prediction (MAP) task achieves the pseudo-aspect words generation. Based on S3MAP, we thoroughly investigate the potential of SemiABSA from various perspectives. Empirical results show that S3MAP can consistently improve the performance by leveraging unlabeled sentences even with those from different domains. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Bone image landmark detection plays a vital role in orthopedic diseases diagnosis and analysis. As a promising approach, the data-driven convolutional neural network has been widely applied in landmarks detection. However, the model's performance relies heavily on numerous high-quality labeled data, which are difficult to access. A practical solution for this issue in bone images landmark detection has not been provided, so we propose a framework of semi-supervised bone images landmark detection encouraged by the recent success of the self-ensembling method. The student and teacher networks share the same structure in our framework, where unlabeled data are utilized by enforcing the prediction consistency of two networks under different perturbations to enhance the network's performance. The two networks use a mutual learning approach to improve the efficiency of using unlabeled data. In addition, we also propose a transformative perturbation scheme to prevent model overfitting during training and enhance the generalization capability of the model on unseen data. Experimental results on an in-house hip dataset collected from the actual process of clinical diagnosis and a publicly available dataset demonstrate that our framework has excellent performance compared with other semi-supervised methods. © 2021 IEEE.
