Curve length estimation based on cubic spline interpolation in gray-scale images

This paper deals with a novel local arc length estimator for curves in gray-scale *** method first estimates a cubic spline curve fit for the boundary points using the gray-level information of the nearby pixels,and then computes the sum of the spline segments’*** this model,the second derivatives and y coordinates at the knots are required in the computation;the spline polynomial coefficients need not be computed *** provide the algorithm pseudo code for estimation and preprocessing,both taking linear *** shows that the proposed model gains a smaller relative error than other state-of-the-art methods.

To realize effective and rapid dynamic biometric identification with low computational complexity, a video-based facial texture program that extracts local binary patterns from three orthogonal planes in the frequency domain of the Gabor transform (GLBP-TOP) was proposed. Firstly, each normalized face was transformed by Gabor wavelet to get the enhanced Gabor magnitude map, and then the LBP-TOP operator was applied to the maps to extract video texture. Finally, weighted Chi square statistics based on the Fisher Criterion were used to realize the identification. The proposed algorithm was proved effective through the biometric experiments using the Honda/UCSD database, and was robust against changes of illumination and expressions. © 2014 - IOS Press and the authors.

In this paper, we investigate the multiple attribute decision making (MADM) problems with hesitant interval-valued fuzzy information. Then, we further develop some new Einstein aggregation operators with hesitant interval-valued fuzzy information, such as the induced hesitant interval-valued fuzzy Einstein correlated averaging (I-HIVFECA) operator and induced hesitant interval-valued fuzzy Einstein correlated geometric (I-HIVFECG) operator. Then, we apply the induced hesitant interval-valued fuzzy Einstein correlated averaging (I-HIVFECA) operator and induced hesitant interval-valued fuzzy Einstein correlated geometric (I-HIVFECG) operator to deal with multiple attribute decision making under the hesitant interval-valued fuzzy environments. Finally, an illustrative example for evaluating software quality is given to verify the developed approach and to demonstrate its practicality and effectiveness. © 2014-IOS Press and the authors. Ant colony algorithm is a more effective way of solving traveling salesman problem (TSP). Ant colony algorithm adopts the distributed parallel computing mechanism;and it is easy to combine with other methods. Furthermore, it has the advantages of strong robustness. But the search time is long, and it often falls into local optimal solution. In order to speed up convergence rate and ensure the global search ability, use adaptive adjustment mechanism to adjust pheromone evaporation factor, and mutate solutions according to the characteristics of ant colony searching for path in each iteration. An improved ant colony algorithm is proposed in this paper. Experiments show that algorithm has a more remarkable quality of precision and convergent velocity than T. A. S. Masutti and G. F. Dong’s, the improved Percentage deviations of average to the BKS is less than 1% equally, percentage deviations of best to the BKS is less than 0.05% equally. © 2014, Journal of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Research. A real time multi-focus image fusion framework

In this paper, we proposed a new image fusion scheme on spatial domain. The interest of the scheme is its real time. The framework contains two steps: saliency detection and coefficient selection based on the principle of maximum saliency preservation. Mean Square Error, Average Gradient and Spectral Residual Approach are adopted to detect the saliency of original images. Two group of experimental data are shown, and results shown that the image fusion framework works well, and Spectral Residual Approach base fusion scheme performs best among the three schemes. 1548-7741/Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

A fuzzy relational clustering algorithm with q-weighted medoids

Medoids-based fuzzy relational clustering generates clusters of objects based on relational data, which records pairwise similarity or dissimilarities among objects. Compared with single-medoid based approaches, multiple-weighted medoids has shown superior performance in clustering. In this paper, we present a new version of fuzzy relational clustering in this family called fuzzy clustering with q weighted medoids (FQMdd). Based on the objective function of FQMdd, the update of memberships, prototypes of each cluster and weights are given. Compared with two existing fuzzy relational clustering approaches fuzzy c-medoids (FCMdd) and fuzzy clustering with multi-medoids (FMMdd), FQMdd can represent rich cluster-based information by multiple-weighted objects and strengthen contribution of core objects in clusters as well. Experiments on synthetic and real-world datasets show that FQMdd mostly has higher clustering accuracy than FCMdd and FMMdd. Copyright © 2014 Binary Information Press.

In this paper, we investigate the problem of evaluating the performance of classification models. First of all we propose the concept of weighted correct pair map. Then based on the weighted correct pair map, we proposed a new evaluation measure. The attractive features of the measure are that it is insensitive to imbalanced class distributions and discriminating enough. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed measure is reliable. The work presented in this paper may stimulate new research in classification model designing, such as designing new optimization-based classification or ranking models.

Boosting image retrieving result with GPS sensor information

Due to the limited computing resource on mobile devices, it is more difficult to get semantically relevant results from a large dataset in time in a mobile image retrieving system, compared with normal content based image retrieval system, such as in a PC. In order to fix up this problem, images annotated with GPS sensor information have been proposed in this *** an image is acquired by a mobile device, the corresponding location information deriving from GPS coordinates can be obtained by the GPS sensor embedded in the mobile device. For the purpose of using the GPS information, the index database should be built first. In such an indexed database, the whole image database is divided into several small independent databases according to images' location label. Depending on this indexed database and the location label of the query image, image retrieval is carried in a small dataset. To further accelerate the retrieval speed, the hash-based image feature is adopted in this paper. Experimental results show that our proposed method has excellent retrieval performance and low computational complexity. Copyright © 2014 American Scientific Publishers.

Iris recognition based on probabilistic features

In this paper, we propose an iris recognition algorithm based on probabilistic features. At the image preprocessing step, we do many experiments on iris segmentation in order to minimize the negative influence on recognition caused by eyelash and eyelid. As different segmentation angle has different results, we have determined an ideal angle for further recognition. At the recognition step, iris is transformed into frequency domain by using Log Gabor filters. Then raw features are extracted. Probabilistic features, with two forms of distribution, random distribution and normal distribution, are set of vectors generated from these raw features. At the matching step, the raw features are replaced by the property features. KNN algorithm is used to decide the final result. Experiment results showed that the proposed method can make further improvement of recognition rates and reduce the time consumption significantly.
