Over the past decade, social media platforms have been key in spreading rumors, leading to significant negative impacts. To counter this, the community has developed various Rumor Detection (RD) algorithms to automatically identify them using user comments as evidence. However, these RD methods often fail in the early stages of rumor propagation when only limited user comments are available, leading the community to focus on a more challenging topic named Rumor Early Detection (RED). Typically, existing RED methods learn from limited semantics in early comments. However, our preliminary experiment reveals that the RED models always perform best when the number of training and test comments is consistently extensive. This inspires us to address the RED issue by generating more human-like comments to support this hypothesis. To implement this idea, we tune a comment generator by simulating expert collaboration and controversy and propose a new RED framework named CameRed. Specifically, we integrate a mixture-of-expert structure into a generative language model and present a novel routing network for expert collaboration. Additionally, we synthesize a knowledgeable dataset and design an adversarial learning strategy to align the style of generated comments with real-world comments. We further integrate generated and original comments with a mutual controversy fusion module. Experimental results show that CameRed outperforms state-of-the-art RED baseline models and generation methods, demonstrating its effectiveness. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Deep learning methods have shown significant performance in medical image analysis tasks. However, they generally act like ”black box” without explanations in both feature extraction and decision processes, leading to lack of clinical insights and high risk assessments. To aid deep learning in envisioning diseases with visual clues, we propose Representation Group-Disentangling Network (RGD-Net), which can completely disentangle feature space of input X-ray images into several independent feature groups, each corresponding to a specific disease. Taking several semantically related and labeled X-ray images as input, RGD-Net firstly extracts completely group-disentangled representations of diseases through Group-Disentangle Module, which applies group-swap and linking operations to construct latent space by enforcing semantic consistency of attributes. To prevent learning degenerate representations defined as shortcut problem, we further introduce adversarial constricts on mapping from features to diseases, thus avoiding model collapse with former free-form disentanglement. Experiments on chestxray-14 and ChestXpert datasets demonstrate that RGD-Net are effective in predicting diseases with remarkable advantages, which leverage potential factors contributing to different diseases, thus enhancing interpretability in working patterns of deep learning methods.

With the continuous development of artificial intelligence technology and information technology, a large number of background data are constantly generated. How to obtain effective and useful data in a large and complex data group becomes important and meaningful. The traditional Bayesian network can represent the probability distribution of data variables from a large number of data based on graphical models. It has relatively clear and reliable reasoning ability and decision-making mechanism. However, the traditional Bayesian network structure has serious shortcomings in the recognition accuracy of corresponding key data, so the efficiency of the corresponding algorithm is seriously low. Based on this, this study adds an adaptive genetic algorithm with causality to the original Bayesian structure, so as to optimize the strategy of its structure operation, quantitatively describe the order of the corresponding data nodes, creatively arrange the corresponding data nodes in order by using the node priority, and initialize the initial architecture of Bayesian network based on this. Finally, the network is initialized through information exchange and data score correction, so as to get the final learning results. In this study, the convolution neural network algorithm in a database is verified in the experiment. The experimental results show that the accuracy of the experimental results given by the Bayesian network structure proposed in this study is about 10% higher than the traditional accuracy, and its corresponding learning results basically cover the important algorithms, hypotheses, and verification of convolution neural network, from this level;the algorithm proposed in this study has obvious advantages in bibliometrics. © 2022 Liwei Zhang et al.

Are Your Apps Accessible? A GCN-based Accessibility Checker for Low Vision Users

Context: Accessibility issues (e.g., small size and narrow interval) in mobile applications (apps) lead to obstacles for billions of low vision users in interacting with Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs). Although GUI accessibility scanning tools exist, most of them perform rule-based check relying on complex GUI hierarchies. This might make them detect invisible redundant information, cannot handle small deviations, omit similar components, and is hard to extend. Objective: In this paper, we propose a novel approach, named ALVIN (Accessibility Checker for Low Vision), which represents the GUI as a graph and adopts the Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (GCN) to label inaccessible components. Method: ALVIN removes invisible views to prevent detecting redundancy and uses annotations from low vision users to handle small deviations. Also, the GCN model could consider the relations between GUI components, connecting similar components and reducing the possibility of omission. ALVIN only requires users to annotate the relevant dataset when detecting new kinds of issues. Results: Our experiments on 48 apps demonstrate the effectiveness of ALVIN, with precision of 83.5%, recall of 78.9%, and F1-score of 81.2%, outperforming baseline methods. In RQ2, the usefulness is verified through 20 issues submitted to open-source apps. The RQ3 also illustrates the GCN model is better than other models. Conclusion: To summarize, our proposed approach can effectively detect accessibility issues in GUIs for low vision users, thereby guiding developers in fixing them efficiently. Partial Multi-label Learning (PML) aims to induce the multi-label predictor from datasets with noisy supervision, where each training instance is associated with several candidate labels but only partially valid. To address the noisy issue, the existing PML methods basically recover the ground-truth labels by leveraging the ground-truth confidence of the candidate label, i.e., the likelihood of a candidate label being a ground-truth one. However, they neglect the information from non-candidate labels, which potentially contributes to the ground-truth label recovery. In this paper, we propose to recover the ground-truth labels, i.e., estimating the ground-truth confidences, from the label enrichment, composed of the relevance degrees of candidate labels and irrelevance degrees of non-candidate labels. Upon this observation, we further develop a novel two-stage PML method, namely Partial MultiLabel Learning with Label Enrichment-Recovery (PML3ER), where in the first stage, it estimates the label enrichment with unconstrained label propagation, then jointly learns the ground-truth confidence and multi-label predictor given the label enrichment. Don’t Confuse! Redrawing GUI Navigation Flow in Mobile Apps for Visually Impaired Users

Mobile applications (apps) are integral to our daily lives, offering diverse services and functionalities. They enable sighted users to access information coherently in an extremely convenient manner. However, it remains unclear if visually impaired users, who rely solely on the screen readers (e.g., Talkback) to navigate and access app information, can do so in the correct and reasonable order. This may result in significant information bias and operational errors. Furthermore, in our preliminary exploration, we explained and clarified that the navigation sequence-related issues encountered by visually impaired users could be categorized into two types: unintuitive navigation sequence and unapparent focus switching. Considering these issues, in this work, we proposed a method named RGNF (Re-draw GUI Navigation Flow). It aimed to enhance the understandability and coherence of accessing the content of each component within the Graphical User Interface (GUI), together with assisting developers in creating well-designed GUI navigation flow (GNF). This method was inspired by the characteristics identified in our preliminary study, where visually impaired users expected navigation to be associated with close position and similar shape of GUI components that were read consecutively. Thus, our method relied on the principles derived from the Gestalt psychological model, aiming to group GUI components into different regions according to the laws of proximity and similarity, thereby redrawing the GNFs. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method, we calculated sequence similarity values before and after redrawing the GNF, and further employed the tools proposed by Alotaibi et al. to measure the reachability of GUI components. Our results demonstrated a substantial improvement in similarity (0.921) compared to the baseline (0.624), together with the reachability (90.31%) compared to the baseline GNF (74.35%). DNA methylation is a critical epigenetic modification that plays a central role in gene regulation, cellular differentiation, and the development of various diseases, including cancers. Aberrant methylation patterns have emerged as both biomarkers and mechanistic drivers in pathogenesis, underscoring the urgent need for precise and efficient predictive tools. Although some deep learning techniques have advanced methylation prediction, most existing models are trained independently on single-species datasets. This species-specific approach limits efficiency because each model can only handle one dataset at a time, often at the expense of predictive performance. Additionally, the state-of-the-art deep learning models tend to have enormous parameter counts and computational overhead, making them impractical for integration into local offline software applications. To overcome these challenges, we propose AutoFE-Pointer, a lightweight and novel framework that harnesses an improved softened pointer network to dynamically extract and weight features from diverse DNA sequences. AutoFE-Pointer is designed to simultaneously process 17 different benchmark datasets spanning multiple species, achieving superior performance compared to models that are trained individually on single-species data. In doing so, it not only offers state-of-the-art predictive accuracy and robust cross-species generalization but also significantly reduces computational demands, facilitating its deployment in local offline environments. This breakthrough represents a significant advancement in the field of epigenetic modeling and computational biology. © 2025

Spirit distillation: A model compression method with multi-domain knowledge transfer

Recent applications pose requirements of both cross-domain knowledge transfer and model compression to machine learning models due to insufficient training data and limited computational resources. In this paper, we propose a new knowledge distillation model, named Spirit Distillation (SD), which is a model compression method with multidomain knowledge transfer. The compact student network mimics out a representation equivalent to the front part of the teacher network, through which the general knowledge can be transferred from the source domain (teacher) to the target domain (student). To further improve the robustness of the student, we extend SD to Enhanced Spirit Distillation (ESD) in exploiting a more comprehensive knowledge by introducing the proximity domain which is similar to the target domain for feature extraction. Results demonstrate that our method can boost mIOU and high-precision accuracy by 1.4% and 8.2% respectively with 78.2% segmentation variance, and can gain a precise compact network with only 41.8% FLOPs. Beam tracking is crucial for maintaining stable data transmission in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications. However, a communication link can be disrupted by frequent switching of narrow beams between a base station and a UAV at certain moments. In this study, we propose a position prediction-based beam tracking algorithm with adaptive beam reconstruction (PPBT-AR) for high-speed UAV. Specifically, long short-term memory (LSTM) recurrent neural networks are utilized to predict the nonlinear flight trajectory during high-speed flight. Moreover, we employ the generative diffusion model (GDM) to jointly optimize the beam width and signal strength, thereby reducing the number of beam switches. In addition, we design an adaptive beam reconstruction (ABR) mechanism to mitigate communication interruptions caused by prediction errors. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed PPBT-AR reduces the number of beam switches by 66.6% and 76.9% in low-speed and high-speed scenarios compared to the traditional phased array beam tracking algorithm, respectively. © 1967-2012 IEEE.

Multi-focus image fusion based on fully convolutional networks

We propose a multi-focus image fusion method, in which a fully convolutional network for focus detection(FD-FCN) is constructed. To obtain more precise focus detection maps, we propose to add skip layers in the network to make both detailed and abstract visual information available when using FD-FCN to generate maps. A new training dataset for the proposed network is constructed based on dataset CIFAR-10. The image fusion algorithm using FD-FCN contains three steps: focus maps are obtained using FD-FCN, decision map generation occurs by applying a morphological process on the focus maps, and image fusion occurs using a decision map. We carry out several sets of experiments, and both subjective and objective assessments demonstrate the superiority of the proposed fusion method to state-of-the-art algorithms.
