In the era of the sixth generation (6G) and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), an industrial cyber-physical system (ICPS) drives the proliferation of sensor devices and computing-intensive tasks. To address the limited resources of IIoT sensor devices, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted mobile edge computing (MEC) has emerged as a promising solution, providing flexible and cost-effective services in close proximity of IIoT sensor devices (ISDs). However, leveraging aerial MEC to meet the delay-sensitive and computation-intensive requirements of the ISDs could face several challenges, including the limited communication, computation and caching (3C) resources, stringent offloading requirements for 3C services, and constrained on-board energy of UAVs. To address these issues, we first present a collaborative aerial MEC-assisted ICPS architecture by incorporating the computing capabilities of the macro base station (MBS) and UAVs. We then formulate a service delay minimization optimization problem (SDMOP). Since the SDMOP is proved to be an NP-hard problem, we propose a joint computation offloading, caching, communication resource allocation, computation resource allocation, and UAV trajectory control approach (JC5A). Specifically, JC5A consists of a block successive upper bound minimization method of multipliers (BSUMM) for computation offloading and service caching, a convex optimization-based method for communication and computation resource allocation, and a successive convex approximation (SCA)-based method for UAV trajectory control. Moreover, we theoretically prove the convergence and polynomial complexity of JC5A. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can achieve superior system performance compared to the benchmark approaches and algorithms. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Wide aspect ratio matching for robust face detection

Recently, anchor-based methods have achieved great progress in face detection. Once anchor design and anchor matching strategy determined, plenty of positive anchors will be sampled. However, faces with extreme aspect ratio always fail to be sampled according to standard anchor matching strategy. In fact, the max IoUs between anchors and extreme aspect ratio faces are still lower than fixed sampling threshold. In this paper, we firstly explore the factors that affect the max IoU of each face in theory. Then, anchor matching simulation is performed to evaluate the sampling range of face aspect ratio. Besides, we propose a Wide Aspect Ratio Matching (WARM) strategy to collect more representative positive anchors from ground-truth faces across a wide range of aspect ratio. Finally, we present a novel feature enhancement module, named Receptive Field Diversity (RFD) module, to provide diverse receptive field corresponding to different aspect ratios. Extensive experiments show that our method can help detectors better capture extreme aspect ratio faces and achieve promising detection performance on challenging face detection benchmarks, including WIDER FACE and FDDB datasets. © 2021, CC BY.

A Novel Neural-symbolic System under Statistical Relational Learning

A key objective in the field of artificial intelligence is to develop cognitive models that can exhibit human-like intellectual capabilities. One promising approach to achieving this is through neural-symbolic systems, which combine the strengths of deep learning and symbolic reasoning. However, current methodologies in this area face limitations in integration, generalization, and interpretability. To address these challenges, we propose a neural-symbolic framework based on statistical relational learning, referred to as NSF-SRL. This framework effectively integrates deep learning models with symbolic reasoning in a mutually beneficial manner. In NSF-SRL, the results of symbolic reasoning are utilized to refine and correct the predictions made by deep learning models, while deep learning models enhance the efficiency of the symbolic reasoning process. Through extensive experiments, we demonstrate that our approach achieves high performance and exhibits effective generalization in supervised learning, weakly supervised and zero-shot learning tasks. Furthermore, we introduce a quantitative strategy to evaluate the interpretability of the model’s predictions, visualizing the corresponding logic rules that contribute to these predictions and providing insights into the reasoning process. We believe that this approach sets a new standard for neural-symbolic systems and will drive future research in the field of general artificial intelligence. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. The low-altitude economy (LAE), as a new economic paradigm, plays an indispensable role in cargo transportation, healthcare, infrastructure inspection, and especially post-disaster communication. Specifically, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as one of the core technologies of the LAE, can be deployed to provide communication coverage, facilitate data collection, and relay data for trapped users, thereby significantly enhancing the efficiency of post-disaster response efforts. However, conventional UAV self-organizing networks exhibit low reliability in long-range cases due to their limited onboard energy and transmit ability. Therefore, in this paper, we design an efficient and robust UAV-swarm enabled collaborative self-organizing network to facilitate post-disaster communications. Specifically, a ground device transmits data to UAV swarms, which then use collaborative beamforming (CB) technique to form virtual antenna arrays and relay the data to a remote access point (AP) efficiently. Then, we formulate a rescue-oriented post-disaster transmission rate maximization optimization problem (RPTRMOP), aimed at maximizing the transmission rate of the whole network. Given the challenges of solving the formulated RPTRMOP by using traditional algorithms, we propose a two-stage optimization approach to address it. In the first stage, the optimal traffic routing and the theoretical upper bound on the transmission rate of the network are derived. In the second stage, we transform the formulated RPTRMOP into a variant named V-RPTRMOP based on the obtained optimal traffic routing, aimed at rendering the actual transmission rate closely approaches its theoretical upper bound by optimizing the excitation current weight and the placement of each participating UAV via a diffusion model-enabled particle swarm optimization (DM-PSO) algorithm. Causality represents the most important kind of correlation between events. Extracting causality from text has become a promising hot topic in NLP. However, there is no mature research systems, evaluation rules and datasets for public evaluation. Moreover, there is a lack of unified causal sequence labeling methods, which constitute the key factors that hinder the progress of causality extraction research. We survey the limitations and shortcomings of existing causality research field comprehensively from the aspects of basic concepts, extraction methods, experimental data, and labeling methods, so as to provide reference for future research on causality extraction. We summarize the existing causality datasets, explore their practicability and extensibility from multiple perspectives. Aiming at the problem of causal sequence labeling, we analyze the existing methods of causal sequence labeling, with a summarizations of its regulation. Multiple candidate causal labeling sequences are put forward according to labeling controversy to explore the optimal labeling method through experiments, and suggestions are provided for selecting labeling method. © 2020 COLING 2020 - 28th International Conference on computational Linguistics, Proceedings of the Conference. As a form of artificial intelligence (AI) technology based on interactive learning, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has been widely applied across various fields and has achieved remarkable accomplishments. However, DRL faces certain limitations, including low sample efficiency and poor generalization. Therefore, we present how to leverage generative AI (GAI) to address these issues above and enhance the performance of DRL algorithms in this paper. We first introduce several classic GAI and DRL algorithms and demonstrate the applications of GAI-enhanced DRL algorithms. Then, we discuss how to use GAI to improve DRL algorithms from the data and policy perspectives. Subsequently, we introduce a framework that demonstrates an actual and novel integration of GAI with DRL, i.e., GAI-enhanced DRL. Additionally, we provide a case study of the framework on UAV-assisted integrated near-field/far-field communication to validate the performance of the proposed framework. The deconvolution of infiltrating immune cells and stromal cells from complex tumor tissues is significant for studying the impact of these cells on tumor development, as well as assisting cancer therapies. Integrating cell-specific marker genes from several references, we put forward an AutoEncoder-based matrix factorization method to estimate the cell proportion in heterogeneous samples. The proportion predicted by our method achieved over 0.95 Pearson correlation coefficient (PCC) with the ground truth. Moreover, through analyzing association between cell proportion of tumor tissues and clinical information of the tumor patients, we found that the proportion of cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) gradually increased with the progress of tumor, and the proportion of B cell in tissues was significantly related to the five-year survival rate of tumor patients.

The servo motor’s flexible acceleration/deceleration(acc/dec) control is an emerging research topic in the automation field. A velocity control algorithm based on trigonometric function is proposed in this *** required parameters, it transforms trigonometric calculations into elementary mathematical operations and calculates the velocity controlling values iteratively, which could avoid trigonometric calculation and reduce the computation time. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is suitable for implementation on field programmable gate arrays and achieves a flexible controlling, enhancing both the equipment’s stability and reliability. It is promising to significantly improve the high-speed computerized numerical control equipment’s controlling accuracy, without a huge hardware resource consumption.

Transmembrane proteins (TMPs) serve as drug targets for more than half of the drugs currently available in the market. However, it had not been clearly explained how they realize their drug effects through multiple complex molecules bindings actions. Research into TMPs bindings and corresponding structural basis will provide key information for drug research and new drug development. In this study, we defined the binding domain of TMPs according to the binding region investigation of multiple conjugate types. A 3D deep learning model was architected to discover the structural universality inside those domains. The experimental results proved such binding domains existing on the surface of TMPs, and they are structural specific distinguishing to the surface regions without any binding activities. This work provides a new theoretical basis for TMPs binding research and can greatly boost the development of the drug industry. © 2021 IEEE.

Deep learning often requires large amounts of data from different institutions. Federated learning, as a distributed training framework, enables multiple participants to collaboratively train models without collecting data together and hence protecting data privacy, but the datasets from different institutions usually bring the problem of domain shift, which affects the performance of the model. When addressing domain shift, previous works often use a single global model to share parameters. Therefore, we propose a novel method to train multiple public models with different structures under the federated framework to improve the reliability and robustness of the public models. And each participant keeps its own domain-tuned private model, the private model does not share parameters with other participants. We use Mixture of Experts (MoE) domain adaptation to dynamically combine different public models and private model, which utilizes the similarity between different datasets to update the parameters of the public models. We apply the proposed method to the multi-site Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) end-to-end classification, and the experiments demonstrate its effectiveness.
