Lightweight axiom pinpointing via replicated driver and customized SAT-solving

In description logic,axiom pinpointing is used to explore defects in ontologies and identify hidden justifications for a logical *** recent years,SAT-based axiom pinpointing techniques,which rely on the enumeration of minimal unsatisfiable subsets(MUSes)of pinpointing formulas,have gained increasing *** with traditional Tableau-based reasoning approaches,SAT-based techniques are more competitive when computing justifications for consequences in large-scale lightweight description logic *** this article,we propose a novel enumeration justification algorithm,working with a replicated *** replicated driver discovers new justifications from the explored justifications through cheap literals resolution,which avoids frequent calls of SAT ***,when the use of SAT solver is inevitable,we adjust the strategies and heuristic parameters of the built-in SAT solver of axiom pinpointing *** adjusted SAT solver is able to improve the checking efficiency of unexplored *** proposed method is implemented as a tool named *** experimental results show that RDMinA outperforms the existing axiom pinpointing tools on practical biomedical ontologies such as Gene,Galen,NCI and Snomed-CT.

Learning continuous network emerging dynamics from scarce observations via data-adaptive stochastic processes

Learning network dynamics from the empirical structure and spatio-temporal observation data is crucial to revealing the interaction mechanisms of complex networks in a wide range of domains. However,most existing methods only aim at learning network dynamic behaviors generated by a specific ordinary differential equation instance, resulting in ineffectiveness for new ones, and generally require dense *** observed data, especially from network emerging dynamics, are usually difficult to obtain, which brings trouble to model learning. Therefore, learning accurate network dynamics with sparse, irregularly-sampled,partial, and noisy observations remains a fundamental challenge. We introduce a new concept of the stochastic skeleton and its neural implementation, i.e., neural ODE processes for network dynamics(NDP4ND), a new class of stochastic processes governed by stochastic data-adaptive network dynamics, to overcome the challenge and learn continuous network dynamics from scarce observations. Intensive experiments conducted on various network dynamics in ecological population evolution, phototaxis movement, brain activity, epidemic spreading, and real-world empirical systems, demonstrate that the proposed method has excellent data adaptability and computational efficiency, and can adapt to unseen network emerging dynamics, producing accurate interpolation and extrapolation with reducing the ratio of required observation data to only about 6% and improving the learning speed for new dynamics by three orders of magnitude.

An expansion of Internet of Things (IoTs) has led to significant challenges in wireless data harvesting, dissemination, and energy management due to the massive volumes of data generated by IoT devices. These challenges are exacerbated by data redundancy arising from spatial and temporal correlations. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel data-driven collaborative beamforming (CB)-based communication framework for IoT networks. Specifically, the framework integrates CB with an overlap-based multi-hop routing protocol (OMRP) to enhance data transmission efficiency while mitigating energy consumption and addressing hot spot issues in remotely deployed IoT networks. Based on the data aggregation to a specific node by OMRP, we formulate a node selection problem for the CB stage, with the objective of optimizing uplink transmission energy consumption. Given the complexity of the problem, we introduce a softmax-based proximal policy optimization with long-short-term memory (SoftPPO-LSTM) algorithm to intelligently select CB nodes for improving transmission efficiency. Simulation results show that the proposed OMRP improves network lifetime by 17% compared to benchmark routing protocols, while the SoftPPO-LSTM method for CB node selection achieves an 8.3% increase in throughput over benchmark algorithms. The results also reveal that the combined OMRP with the SoftPPO-LSTM method effectively mitigates hot spot problems and offers superior performance compared to traditional strategies. © 2014 IEEE.

Efficient Sharing of Energy Consumption Data: A Privacy-Preserving Threshold Aggregation Approach

Energy consumption data collected by smart meters is increasingly used by various subscribers in the smart grid for load management, energy monitoring, and policy planning. To protect user privacy, edge-assisted privacy-preserving data aggregation (PPDA) techniques are commonly employed. However, existing methods face several challenges: i) limited scalability, ii) strict trust requirements, and iii) the risk of revealing unique consumption patterns to data collectors. To address these challenges, we propose a privacy-preserving threshold aggregation method that is easily scalable and facilitates efficient energy data sharing under limited trust assumptions. Specifically, we design VFPNTRU, a quantum-resistant homomorphic proxy re-encryption scheme with fault tolerance and re-encryption verification. In VFP-NTRU, smart meters can encrypt data with a public key without the need for prior negotiation of decryption keys with multiple subscribers. Additionally, we develop a privacy threshold collection protocol that uses a verifiable oblivious pseudorandom function to provide privacy guarantees similar to k-anonymity for SM data collection. We further introduce an energy consumption model to determine optimal collection strategies, improving system responsiveness. We provide correctness analysis and prove the security of our scheme. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms existing PPDA methods, making it particularly suitable for resource-constrained smart meters and central servers managing large-scale energy data. © 2014 IEEE.

Multiparticipant Federated Feature Selection Algorithm With Particle Swarm Optimization for Imbalanced Data Under Privacy Protection

In the real world, data describing the same learning task may be distributed in different institutions (called participants), and these participants cannot share their own data due to the need of privacy protection. How to select an optimal feature subset on the basis of ensuring the data privacy of each participant is an important and challenging topic. At the same time, data on part participants show imbalanced or even miss some classes, further increasing the difficulty of solving this kind of problem. In view of this, by introducing a trusted third party to process and integrate optimal information from participants, this article proposes a multiparticipant federated evolutionary feature selection algorithm for imbalanced data under privacy protection. First, a multilevel joint sample filling strategy with multiple participants (called sampling-rough selection-fine tuning strategy) is proposed to fill imbalanced or empty classes on each participant while ensuring data privacy. Then, a federated evolutionary feature selection method based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed by periodically sharing the optimal feature subsets obtained by PSOs on participants. Finally, the proposed algorithm is applied to 15 test datasets, and compared with several typical imbalanced feature selection algorithms and two kinds of ensemble feature selection algorithms. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly promote the ability of each participant on processing imbalanced datasets, and improve the classification accuracy of obtained feature subsets while protecting the participants' data privacy. © 2020 IEEE.

A novel hybrid butterfly optimization algorithm for feature selection with sine cosine velocity in the high-dimensional classification data

Aiming at the shortcomings of the traditional butterfly optimization algorithm in solving the high-dimensional classification feature selection problem, which has low convergence and is prone to fall into local optimal solutions, a new hybrid butterfly optimization algorithm is proposed, i.e., HBOA-SCV (A novel hybrid butterfly optimization algorithm with sine cosine velocity). The algorithm is applied to solve a high-dimensional classification feature selection problem. Firstly, the algorithm's global exploration and local exploitation ability can be dynamically balanced by introducing inertia weight coefficients w based on multiple learning strategies. Secondly, using the updated speed position formula of the sine-cosine acceleration strategy, individual butterflies' autonomous search ability and convergence speed can be further improved. Finally, according to the fitness value of each butterfly individual, the moving step length and direction of the butterfly individual are automatically adjusted better to fit the actual search process of the butterfly individual, increase the search ability in the global range, and avoid the algorithm from falling into the local optimum. To verify the algorithm's effectiveness, 18 high-dimensional classification numbers are selected to carry out simulation and comparison experiments between HBOA-SCV and traditional BOA algorithm, five improved BOA algorithms and other comparative algorithms for high-dimensional classification data successively. The experimental results show that the average fitness value and classification accuracy of the HBOA-SCV algorithm are better than the comparison algorithm, thus verifying the superiority of the HBOA-SCV algorithm. © 2024 - IOS Press. Skeleton-based action recognition has long been a fundamental and intriguing problem in machine intelligence. This task is challenging due to pose occlusion and rapid motion, which typically results in incomplete or noisy skeleton data. State-of-the-art methods tend to learn human motion directly from these corrupted skeletons as if they were reliable. Unfortunately, this might lead to unsatisfactory results when key regions of the skeleton are occluded or disturbed. To tackle the problem, we propose a novel framework that integrates auxiliary tasks into a motion modeling network. These auxiliary tasks corrupt partial human skeletons with masking or noise and then force the network to recover the corrupted data, explicitly facilitating robust feature representation learning. We further propose supervising the auxiliary tasks with mutual information losses, mathematically ensuring feature consistency and spatial alignment between the recovered and original skeleton data. Empirically, our approach sets the new state-of-the-art performance on three benchmark datasets. © 2025 IEEE.

Applying Kumaraswamy distribution on stick-breaking process: a Dirichlet neural topic model approach

In recent years, neural topic modeling has increasingly raised extensive attention due to its capacity on generating coherent topics and flexible deep neural structures. However, the widely used Dirichlet distribution in shallow topic models is difficult to reparameterize. Therefore, most existing neural topic models assume the Gaussian as the prior of topic proportions for reparameterization. Gaussian distribution does not have the sparsity like Dirichlet distribution, which limits the model’s topic extraction ability. To address this issue, we propose a novel neural topic model approximating the Dirichlet prior with the reparameterizable Kumaraswamy distribution, namely Kumaraswamy Neural Topic Model (KNTM). Specifically, we adopted the stick-breaking process for posterior inference with the Kumaraswamy distribution as the base distribution. Besides, to capture the dependencies among topics, we propose a Kumaraswamy Recurrent Neural Topic Model (KRNTM) based on the recurrent stick-breaking construction to ensure that the model can still generate coherent topical words in high-dimensional topic space. We examined our method on five prevalent benchmark datasets over six Dirichlet-approximating neural topic models, among which KNTM has the lowest perplexity and KRNTM performance best on topic coherence and topic uniqueness. Qualitative analysis of the top topical words verifies that our proposed models can extract more semantically coherent topics compared with state-of-the-art models, further demonstrating our method’s effectiveness. Nowadays, misinformation is widely spreading over various social media platforms and causes extremely negative impacts on society. To combat this issue, automatically identifying misinformation, especially those containing multimodal content, has attracted growing attention from the academic and industrial communities, and induced an active research topic named Multimodal Misinformation Detection (MMD). Typically, existing MMD methods capture the semantic correlation and inconsistency between multiple modalities, but neglect some potential clues in multimodal content. Recent studies suggest that manipulated traces of the images in articles are non-trivial clues for detecting misinformation. Meanwhile, we find that the underlying intentions behind the manipulation, e.g., harmful and harmless, also matter in MMD. Accordingly, in this work, we propose to detect misinformation by learning manipulation features that indicate whether the image has been manipulated, as well as intention features regarding the harmful and harmless intentions of the manipulation. Unfortunately, the manipulation and intention labels that make these features discriminative are unknown. To overcome the problem, we propose two weakly supervised signals as alternatives by introducing additional datasets on image manipulation detection and formulating two classification tasks as positive and unlabeled learning problems. Based on these ideas, we propose a novel MMD method, namely Harmfully Manipulated Images Matter in MMD (Hami-m3d). Extensive experiments across three benchmark datasets can demonstrate that Hami-m3d can consistently improve the performance of any MMD baselines. © 2024 ACM.
