Minimizing Data Collection Latency for Coexisting Time-Critical Wireless Networks with Tree Topologies

Time-Critical Wireless Network (TCWN) is a promising communication technology that can satisfy the low latency, high reliability, and deterministic requirements of mission-critical applications. Multiple TCWNs required by various applications inevitably coexist with each other. Most existing works aim to achieve acceptable latency or consider the simplest topology (i.e., line topology). As latency requirements become more stringent, exploring the minimum data collection latency becomes an interesting problem. In this paper, the coexisting system consists of multiple tree-topology-based TCWNs. We first establish a conversion framework to convert an arbitrary tree topology into multiple analogous line topologies to reduce the analysis complexity. We then propose a Time-Critical wireless network Scheduling (TCS) algorithm to minimize the data collection latency of coexisting TCWNs. The TCS algorithm consists of two phases. In the internetwork scheduling phase, we strictly derive a general expression to characterize the practical network requirements. In the intranetwork scheduling phase, we design two levels of priority assignment algorithms to accurately characterize the critical states and resource requirements of different nodes. We conduct extensive simulations to verify the effectiveness of the TCS algorithm. The evaluation results show that the TCS algorithm can achieve minimum data collection latency in more than 99.956% cases, and the maximum difference compared to the optimal value is one time slot. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Study on Liquid Film Characteristics of Supersonic Separator Based on Conductance Sensor Array

Supersonic separator is a promising technology for natural gas dehydration, and understanding the liquid film movement characteristics within the separator can significantly enhance separation efficiency. A 16×16 electrode-pair conductance sensor array was designed to conduct liquid film measurement in the expansion section of supersonic separator under different back pressure ratio and inlet liquid content. The results revealed that the fluctuations in liquid film thickness and the average energy decay rates were strongly influenced by the operating conditions, providing a real-time flow pattern monitoring approach based on frequency-domain energy. To further analyze liquid film characteristics, a liquid film thickness image reconstruction method based on time fusion and sensitivity matrix (TF-SM) was innovatively proposed. Compared to bicubic interpolation, TF-SM reduced the normalized mean square error (NMSE) from a maximum of 53.41% to 21.77%. The spatial velocity distribution of liquid film in different flow patterns was established using cross-correlation algorithm between reconstructed images, and the velocity fluctuations under different operating conditions were analyzed. Results showed that velocity fluctuations intensified as inlet liquid content increased and back pressure ratio decreased, with the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) of velocity differences ranging from 0.4% to 8.7%. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

In this paper, the problem of model reduction for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems is studied. The virtual inner disturbance is first constructed to map a potential link between the states of two systems before and after dimensionality reduction. Based on Lyapunov theorem, the H∞ approach is then used to analyze the augmented system with the inner disturbance. The results are unrelated to reduced-order system membership functions (MFs), which can be freely selected. Furthermore, both the number of rules and the size of the reduced-order system and the inner disturbance may be flexibly chosen. An example is adapted to demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents an event-based asymptotic tracking control scheme designed for strict feedback systems with unknown control directions. The control directions directly determine how the controller acts on the system, thus impacting the system's stability and convergence speed. When the control directions are unknown, it presents a significant challenge in controller design. To tackle this issue, the Nussbaum-type gains are introduced. However, this method increases communication overhead. Hence, an event-triggered mechanism is introduced to alleviate this burden. Additionally, to achieve and maintain desired target states, satisfying control requirements and performance demands, this paper improves the event-triggered mechanism to achieve asymptotic tracking. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed design are validated through a simulation example. © 2024 Asian control Association.

In horizontal gas-liquid slug flow, the translational velocity of the liquid slug and its axial velocity profile are important in guiding pipeline design and studying the formation and development mechanism of the liquid slug. This paper proposes a method for measuring the translational velocity in horizontal gas-liquid slug flow with a single optical fiber probe (OFP) based on fiber optic reflectometer technique (FOR). The wavelet synchronosqueeze transform (WSST) method is used to extract the frequency of the oscillation signal and to calculate the local velocity. Experiments under 15 velocity conditions are carried out in horizontal DN50 pipeline. The maximum velocity inside the liquid slug generally appears in the slug head area. As the distance between the probe tip and the front interface of the slug increases, the local velocity decreases and eventually stabilizes. The maximum velocity at the slug head area is selected as translational velocity of the slug. Compared with Bendiksen's empirical formula, the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) is 5.44%. Under most velocity conditions, the relative error does not exceed 10%.

With the extensive penetration of distributed renewable energy and self-interested prosumers,the emerging power market tends to enable user autonomy by bottom-up control and distributed *** paper is devoted to solving the specific problems of distributed energy management and autonomous bidding and peer-to-peer(P2P)energy sharing among prosumers.A novel cloud-edge-based We-Market is presented,where the prosumers,as edge nodes with independent control,balance the electricity cost and thermal comfort by formulating a dynamic household energy management system(HEMS).Meanwhile,the autonomous bidding is initiated by prosumers via the modified Stone-Geary utility *** the cloud center,a distributed convergence bidding(CB)algorithm based on consistency criterion is developed,which promotes faster and fairer bidding through the interactive iteration with the edge ***,the proposed scheme is built on top of the commercial cloud platform with sufficiently secure and scalable computing *** results show the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed We-Market,which achieves 15%cost reduction with shorter running *** analysis indicates better scalability,which is more suitable for largerscale We-Market implementation.

Planar Laser-Induced Fluorescence (PLIF) has been widely applied in the investigation of annular flow. However, it faced impediments due to the imaging distortions from the curvature of the pipe wall and the fluctuations at the gas-liquid interface. In this paper, the influence of circumferential waves on PLIF40 imaging is examined. Employing optical path analysis, the influence of pipe wall curvature is corrected. Numerical calculations are utilized to scrutinize the total internal reflection induced by circumferential fluctuations with varying amplitudes and liquid film thicknesses. The results indicate that the underestimating liquid film thickness in traditional PLIF90, stemming from light occlusion, has the negligible effects on PLIF40. Furthermore, considering the uneven distribution of the fluctuations at the gas-liquid interface, a dual-sided PLIF40 method is proposed to mitigate the impact of total internal reflection. Numerical calculations and experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness of the method. And the analysis demonstrates the notable performance of dual-sided PLIF40 in suppressing total reflection and recovering the transient flow field.

The current trend is to perform signal processing algorithms in the digital domain, rather than in the analog domain. Thus, field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) which has advantages in digital signal processing become a common choice for digital implementation of various analog signal processing functional module. However, performing complex algorithms using hardware description languages could be a challenging task. This paper demonstrates the use of high-level synthesis method to implement digital signal processing functions. Through high-level synthesis, some frequently inves-tigated signal processing functions, e.g. the lock-in amplifier, FIR filters, could be conveniently implemented with optimized pipelining performance. Results showed that, the development speed and optimization capability of high-level synthesis method in developing mathematical algorithms has demonstrated great advantages against the common hardware description language implementation. The pipelining optimization has enabled the lock-in amplifier 3 times faster than the common implementation. In addition, it also offers the convenience in accomplish the interface of IP core to the embedded ARM core.

The electrical resistance tomography (ERT) could be utilized as an effective tool for imaging the multi-phase flows, which are frequently met in the flotation and stirring processes. In this paper, a level measurement method that employs ERT and linear sensor has been proposed to determine the interface level of pulp-froth two-phase flows from ERT images. It could estimate the interface by tracing the changes in the conductivity profile. In addition, the sensitivity matrix of linear sensor has been investigated, i.e., by utilizing the prior information of layered conductivity distribution. Numerical simulations showed that, the method could achieve a good estimation for the level of pulp-froth interface, with a maximum relative error of ±6%. Experimental results have also verified a similar accuracy, with a maximum relative error of ±8%.

The Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research Program tasked a research team with the“Investigation of the water vapor channel of the Yarlung Zsangbo Grand Canyon(INVC)”in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau(TP).This paper summarizes the scientific achievements obtained from the data collected by the INVC observation network and highlights the progress in investigating the development of heavy rainfall events associated with water vapor *** rain gauge network of the INVC can represent the impacts of the Yarlung Zsangbo Grand Canyon(YGC)topography on precipitation at the hourly *** microphysical characteristics of the precipitation in the YGC are different than those in the lowland *** GPM-IMERG(Integrated MultisatellitE Retrievals for Global Precipitation Measurement)satellite precipitation data for the YGC region should be calibrated before they are *** meridional water vapor flux through the YGC is more important than the zonal flux for the precipitation over the southeastern *** decreased precipitation around the YGC region is partly due to the decreased meridional water vapor flux passing through the ***-resolution numerical models can benefit precipitation forecasting in this region by using a combination of specific schemes that capture the valley wind and water vapor flux along the valley floor.
