Since the combustion system of coal-fired boiler in thermal power plant is characterized as time varying, strongly coupled, and nonlinear, it is hard to achieve a satisfactory performance by the conventional proportional integral derivative (PID) control scheme. For the characteristics of the main steam pressure in coal-fired power plant boiler, the sliding mode controlsystem with Smith predictive structure is proposed to look for performance and robustness improvement. First, internal model control (IMC) and Smith predictor (SP) is used to deal with the time delay, and sliding mode controller (SMCr) is designed to overcome the model mismatch. Simulation results show the effectiveness of the proposed controller compared with conventional ones.

Robust control design for quantum systems has been recognized as a key task in the development of practical quantum technology. In this paper, we present a systematic numerical methodology of sampling-based learning control (SLC) for control design of quantum systems with Hamiltonian uncertainties. The SLC method includes two steps of "training" and "testing and evaluation". In the training step, an augmented system is constructed by sampling uncertainties according to possible distributions of uncertainty parameters. A gradient flow based learning and optimization algorithm is adopted to find the control for the augmented system. In the process of testing and evaluation, a number of samples obtained through sampling the uncertainties are tested to evaluate the control performance. Numerical results demonstrate the success of the SLC approach. The SLC method has potential applications for robust control design of quantum systems.

Anti-windup design is an intuitive and efficient way to deal with input saturation *** the classic antiwindup design,the compensator is set to be activated immediately as the control signal saturates the *** important innovation in the anti-windup activation mechanism is to delay the activation of the anti-windup mechanism until the saturation reaches to a certain severity which led to a performance improvement of the resulting closed-loop *** recently,it was shown that by activating a static anti-windup mechanism in anticipation of actuator saturation,significant further performance improvements can be achieved in comparison with the delayed activation *** addition,we have combined both the delayed and anticipatory activation mechanisms,to develop the multiple activation strategy,in terms of(?) gain *** paper furthermore considers the problem of enlarging domain of attraction and demonstrates that the multiple activation of a static multiple feedback anti-windup mechanism would also lead to significant performance improvements over both the immediate and delayed activation schemes.

This paper mainly aims at the modeling problem of the photovoltaic (PV) array with a 30 kW PV grid-connected generation system. An iterative method for the time-varying parameters is proposed to model a plant of PV array. The relationship of PV cell and PV array is obtained and the solution for PV array model is unique. The PV grid-connected generation system is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method by comparing the calculated values with the actual output of the system.

The stability of quantized innovations Kalman filtering (QIKF) is analyzed. In the analysis, the correlation between quantization errors and measurement noises is considered. By taking the quantization errors as a random perturbation in the observation system, the QIKF for the original system is equivalent to a Kalman-like filtering for the equivalent state-observation system. Thus, the estimate error covariance matrix of QIKF can be more exactly analyzed. The boundedness of the estimate error covariance matrix of QIKF is obtained under some weak conditions. The design of the number of quantized levels is discussed to guarantee the stability of QIKF. To overcome the instability and divergence of QIKF when the number of quantization levels is small, we propose a Kalman filter using scaling quantized innovations. Numerical simulations show the validity of the theorems and algorithms.
