This paper addresses the development of an active fault tolerant control scheme that is applied to a wind turbine simulated benchmark. The proposed methodology is based on a comprehensive scheme relying on adaptive controllers designed by means of the on–line identification of the system model under diagnosis. In this way, the controller reconfiguration mechanism exploits an adaptive regulator implementation, depending on the on–line estimate of system model. One of the advantages of this strategy is that, for example, the original structure of logic–based switching digital controller scheme already implemented for the wind turbine benchmark can be almost preserved. The active fault tolerant control scheme is therefore applied to a wind turbine simulated benchmark, in the presence of disturbance and measurement errors, along nominal operating conditions, including also different realistic fault situations. The achieved results in both fault–free and faulty conditions serve to show the enhancement of the control performances, and the fault accommodation features.

This paper is concerned with the H∞ filtering for road constrained target tracking problem. The additional information of road can improve the estimation accuracy when it is properly incorporated into the estimation process. In this paper, two constrained H∞ filtering methods considering the road constraints as prior information are proposed. The new approaches achieve not only higher accuracy, but also robustness against model uncertainty. Two simulation examples are present to illustrate the performance of the proposed approaches.

Agent-based evacuation modeling approach is gained more and more attention for investigating human cognitive capabilities and social behaviors in building fires. This paper mainly overviews the research about various agent-based evacuation models. For the decision-making reflects the intelligence of agent individual, we define three types of behavior decision-making models for agent individual based on the collected literatures and sum up the characteristics of each type. Aiming at crowd' important influence on evacuation processes, we also sum up two types of agent-based crowd modeling approaches to simulate crowd evacuation processes and give corresponding cases. Finally, after summing up the existing problems, the outlooks of the research from computational experiments point of view is proposed.

Multiple-model (MM) methods are effective in handling mode uncertainties and the variable structure multiplemodel (VSMM) approach is one technique of the state of art. However, designing a better model set adaptive (MSA) mechanism is still a challenging problem both in theory and practice. In this paper, we present new theoretical analysis to evaluate the quality of model sequence sets in a nested structure which implies a principle-to find effective model sequence sets with the smallest size if the risk of missing real modes is small enough. A minimum entropy multiple-model (MEMM) approach is proposed to calculate the model sets with minimum Shannon entropy through feed back the online information into the fusion center. Sub-optimal MEMM algorithms are also designed with a particle filter. An example of maneuvering target tracking is considered in simulations. The proposed algorithms are compared to several existing VSMM algorithms and the results show that the MEMM algorithms are robust and effective in both estimation precision and converging rate.

Recently, tracking is regarded as a binary classification problem by discriminative tracking methods. However, such binary classification may not fully handle the outliers, which may cause drifting. In this paper, we argue that tracking may be regarded as one-class problem, which avoids gathering limited negative samples for background description. Inspired by the fact the positive feature space generated by One-Class SVM is bounded by a closed sphere, we propose a novel tracking method utilizing One-Class SVMs that adopt HOG and 2bit-BP as features, called One-Class SVM Tracker (OCST). Simultaneously an efficient initialization and online updating scheme is also proposed. Extensive experimental results prove that OCST outperforms some state-of-the-art discriminative tracking methods on providing accurate tracking and alleviating serious drifting.
