Currently, the earlier detection, diagnosis and treatment to breast cancer still mainly depend on physicians' experience and knowledge. Case-Based Reasoning(CBR) mimics oncologists' real thinking process and therefore is appropriate to the diagnosis decision making. In CBR, weight derivation as a key step is commonly conducted by expert score approaches using Delphi method. The accuracy of case matching largely changes with the selection and experience of experts. In this paper, information entropy for weight determination is introduced into the CBR. We conduct experimental studies to compare the performance of Delphi method and information entropy. The results suggest that: generally, information entropy is a better approach to weight derivation.

We present a fast collision detection method for deformable surfaces with parallel spatial hashing on GPU architecture. The efficient update and access of the uniform grid are exploited to accelerate the performance in our method. To deal with the inflexible memory system, which makes the building of stream data a challenging task on GPU, we propose to subdivide the whole workload into irregular segments and design an efficient evaluation algorithm, which employs parallel scan and stream compaction, to build the stream data in parallel. The load balancing is a key aspect that needs to be considered in the SIMD parallelism. We break the heavy and irregular collision computation down into lightweight part and heavyweight part, ensuring the later perfectly run in load balancing manner with each concurrent thread processes just a single collision. In practice, our approach can perform collision detection in tens of milliseconds on a PC with NVIDIAGTX 260 graphics card on benchmarks composed of millions of triangles. The results highlight our speedups over prior CPU-based and GPU-based algorithms.

Statistically motivated approaches for the registration and tracking of non-rigid objects, such as the Active Appearance Model (AAM), have become increasing popular by virtue of their fast and efficient modeling and alignment, but typically they require tedious manual annotation of training images. In this paper, a regression based approach for the automatic annotation of profile face image from a single annotated frontal image is presented. This approach initially finds the correspondence between frontal and profile images with balanced graph matching, and then learns the spatial relation between scattered correspondence and the structured one. The approach is experimentally validated by automatically annotate a set of testing images with a face in arbitrary poses.

Since the strip transient temperature can only be measured at a few positions inside the cooling section in hot-rolled strip laminar cooling process, a new approach of monitoring strip transient temperature in cooling process is proposed. A simple and accurate state space representation is designed firstly to describe the temperature drop of strip. An Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) is designed to reconstruct the strip temperature distribution because of its simple designation. Considering coordinating the convergence rate and stability, a trade-off feed-back coefficient of EKF is chosen. The reliability of the proposed method was demonstrated by the experimentation in one steel Ltd.

2-keto-L-gulonic acid (2-KGA), a key precursor in the synthesis of L-ascorbic acid, is produced by mixed fermentation of Bacillus megaterium and Gluconobacter oxydans with L-sorbose as substrate. For such mixed cultivation, the mechanistic modelling is difficult because the interactions between the two strains are not well known yet. Therefore, data-driven modelling is studied in this paper. The rolling learning-prediction (RLP) based on support vector machine (SVM) is practiced to predict the product formation. To satisfy the online application demand, pseudo-on-line prediction is carried out using the data from commercial scale 2-KGA cultivation. The prediction approach receives data in sequence and the historical database of the SVM is updated with statistical analysis of the product formation after the termination of a batch. The robustness of the prediction approach is further tested by adding extra noises to the process variables.

In this paper, genetic algorithm and modified dynamic programming are applied to path planning of robotic fish for the first time. Using grid method to the environment modeling and applying genetic algorithm to the path planning, an optimal or sub-optimal robot path can be obtained. Since the robotic fish can't track linear motion, the robot path can be seen as several circular arc. Based on the optimal path obtained via genetic algorithm, modified dynamic programming algorithm is proposed to calculate the shortest circular arc path, fish velocity and direction in every step. Finally the experiment on the robotic fish control software shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper studies consensus control problems for a class of second-order multi-agent systems without relative velocity measurement. Some dynamic neighbour-based rules are adopted for the agents in the presence of external disturbances. A sufficient condition is derived to make all agents achieve consensus while satisfying desired H∞ performance. Finally, numerical simulations are provided to show the effectiveness of our theoretical results.

This paper introduces a model that agents use an information updating rule combining non-Bayesian learning and Bayesian learning in a social network. Signals from some distinguishing individuals aggregate through the network so that every agent could collect enough information about the true state. The observation from expert Bayesian agents will drive the average belief of the true state in the network convergence with possibility of 1 as time grows infinite. Instead of using a fully Bayesian manner, we choose a linear combination of some neighbor's Bayesian observation and the other's view directly. Under some mild assumption of existing at least an expert agent, the agent's beliefs of the underlying state of the world will increase by time, and the possibility of all agent's beliefs finally convergence to the underlying true state of the world become 1.

In a traditional anti-windup design, the anti-windup mechanism is set to be activated as soon as the control signal saturates the actuator. A recent innovation of delaying the activation of the anti-windup mechanism, both static and dynamic, until the saturation reaches to a certain level of severity has led to a performance improvement of the resulting closed-loop system. More recently, it has been shown that significant further performance improvements can be obtained by activating a static anti-windup mechanism in anticipation of actuator saturation, in comparison with the delayed activation design. This paper demonstrates that anticipatory activation of a dynamic anti-windup mechanism would also lead to significant performance improvements over both the immediate and delayed activation schemes.
