Securing Mobile Robotic Networks Against Replacement Attack

The security of mobile robotic networks (MRNs) has been an active research topic in recent years. This paper aims to secure the ubiquitous formation control of MRNs against the replacement attack, where an external robot can replace a formation robot by compromising the communication and physically interfering with the victim simultaneously. To counter this advanced attack, the novel idea of this work is to leverage the physical proximity of the formation shape and the interaction topology among robots for defense design. First, from the physical proximity perspective, we propose the convex neighbor polygon (CNP) to capture the geometric characteristic of the formation robots, and design a CNP-based security mechanism for the robots during the replacement attack. Then, from the interaction perspective, we introduce the indirect controllability to characterize the possibility that the attacker leverages the interaction between robots to deactivate the CNP mechanism, and establish the conditions regarding the topology structure and the attack input to counter the replacement. Finally, based on the obtained conditions, we demonstrate how to design the initiatory topology among the formation robots to enhance the defense performance. Comparative simulations verify the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Sharing energy in wider area: A two-layer energy sharing scheme for massive prosumers

The popularization of distributed energy resources transforms end-users from consumers into prosumers. Inspired by the sharing economy principle, energy sharing markets for prosumers are proposed to facilitate the utilization of renewable energy. This paper proposes a novel two-layer energy sharing market for massive prosumers, which can promote social efficiency by wider-area sharing. In this market, there is an upper-layer energy sharing market (U-ESM) in the distribution system and numerous lower-layer energy sharing markets (L-ESMs) in local communities. Prosumers in the same community share energy with each other in the L-ESM, which can be uncleared. The energy surplus and shortage of L-ESMs are cleared in the U-ESM. Thanks to the wider-area two-layer structure, the market outcome is near-social-optimal in large-scale systems. However, the proposed market forms a complex mathematical program with equilibrium constraints (MPEC). To solve the problem, we propose an efficient and hierarchically distributed bidding algorithm. The proposed two-layer market and bidding algorithm are verified on the IEEE 123-bus system with 11,250 prosumers, which demonstrates the practicality and efficiency for large-scale markets. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

Secure Consensus of Multi-agent systems via Fully Distributed Dynamic Edge-based Event Triggered Under Denial-of-service Attacks

This paper addresses the issue of ensuring secure consensus in linear multi-agent systems under Denial-of-Service attacks. At the outset, to address the issue of partially observable agent states, a state observer is engineered to offer state estimations for the agents. Using the capabilities of this observer, a novel fully distributed dynamic adaptive edge-based event triggered control mechanism is introduced, and a timing variable is utilized to ensure that the inter-event intervals for all communication links in the network are strictly positive, thereby excluding Zeno behavior. Following that, by leveraging the piecewise Lyapunov function approach, the necessary conditions are meticulously crafted to ensure that the system reaches a secure consensus, thereby establishing a quantitative link between control gains, the duration of attacks, and their frequencies. Ultimately, the effectiveness of the developed event-triggered control strategy is validated through a simulation example.

Tissue P systems with Look-Ahead Mode

Tissue P systems are a class of distributed and parallel computing models inspired from inter-cellular communication and cooperation between cells. In this work, a variant of tissue P system, named tissue P system with look-ahead mode, is discussed for decreasing the inherent non-determinism of tissue P systems and helping implementing tissue P systems on computers. Such systems are proved to be universal by simulating register machine, and they are also proved to be able to efficiently solve computationally hard problems by means of a space-time tradeoff, which is illustrated with a polynomial solution to 3-coloring problem.

An Enhancing Stability control Strategy of VSG-Based Power Source Under PWM Rectifier Load

Under PWM rectifier load, the power source based on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) is prone to cause mid-frequency oscillation. Firstly, the system oscillation mechanism and characteristic of the VSG-based power source are analyzed based on impedance method. Due to the negative resistance and capacitive characteristic in the middle frequency range, the PWM rectifier load is prone to interact with the VSG-based power source, which can lead to impedance resonance. Secondly, to improve the stability of the VSG-based power source under the PWM rectifier load, a voltage differentiation feedforward control is proposed. In addition, since the mid-frequency impedance magnitude decrease obviously, the improved VSG-based power source is closer to the ideal voltage source, which can automatically suppress the middle harmonics induced by uncontrollable rectifier load. Finally, the proposed control and the corresponding theoretical analysis are verified by simulations and experiments. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Identification of Non-Restorative Sleep Associated with Depression Using Ambulatory Electrocardiogram and Triaxial Acceleration

Objective: Non-restorative sleep is prevalent among individuals with depression and is strongly associated with the severity of the condition. Therefore, identifying non-restorative sleep can aid in the early screening of depression. Investigating non-restorative sleep in depression necessitates long-term monitoring under naturalistic conditions. Methods: In this study, we recruited 149 participants and collected electrocardiogram and triaxial acceleration from them, resulting in a total of 761 nights of data. The period from midnight to 6:30 AM was segmented into 78 five-minute intervals, from which 40 physiological features were extracted for each interval. To deal with variations in sleep patterns across participants and dates, we reordered the sleep data based on levels of parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) activation to explore the underlying neural mechanisms of non-restorative sleep in individuals with depressive symptoms. Results: We developed a model that integrated convolutional neural networks with an attention mechanism to identify nonrestorative sleep in individuals with depressive symptoms. The model demonstrated impressive performance on an independent test set, achieving an accuracy of 81.25% and an F1 score of 77.85%. Additionally, Bayes' theorem was used to compute the posterior probability indicating nonrestorative sleep in this population, assessing abnormal PNS activation. Conclusion: Finally, we designed a system capable of automatically evaluating nighttime sleep status and quantifying changes in non-restorative sleep associated with depression. Significance: This system offers a novel tool and method for the early identification of individuals at risk of depression. © 1964-2012 IEEE.

This paper studies reduced-order dynamic consensus protocols for homogeneous linear multi-agent systems using pure relative output information. By applying H∞ control theory, a separation principle-like method with an additional small-gain constraint is proposed for designing an (nx-nu)th order protocol, where nx and nu are the numbers of states and inputs of each agent, respectively. Existence conditions for the protocol are then systematically discussed from the graph, low gain and high gain perspectives, respectively. It is revealed that the protocol always exists and can be found by the proposed design method for three cases: 1) directed acyclic networks, 2) agents with all eigenvalues in the closed left-half complex plane and 3) agents of minimum phase. Another reduced-order protocol of (nx - ny)th order is further discussed through duality. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Causal Attention Transformer for Video Text Retrieval

In the metaverse, video text retrieval is an urgent and challenging need for users in social entertainment. The current attention-based video text retrieval models have not fully explored the interaction between video and text, and only brute force feature embedding. Moreover, Due to the unsupervised nature of attention weight training, existing models have weak generalization performance for dataset bias. Essentially, the model learns that false relevant information in the data is caused by confounding factors. Therefore, this article proposes a video text retrieval method based on causal attention transformer. Assuming that the confounding factors affecting the performance of video text retrieval all come from the dataset, a structural causal model that conforms to the video text retrieval task is constructed, and the impact of confounding effects during data training is reduced by adjusting the front door. In addition, we use causal attention transformer to construct a causal inference network to extract causal features between video text pairs, and replace the similarity statistical probability with causal probability in the video text retrieval framework. Experiments are conducted on the MSR-VTT, MSVD, and LSMDC datasets, which proves the effectiveness of the retrieval model proposed in this paper. © 2025 The Author(s). The processes of sowing and fertiliser application represent a significant aspect of agricultural production. In order to achieve efficient and precise seeding and fertiliser application, mass flow detection of seed and fertiliser particles can facilitate real-time monitoring and precise decision-making for intelligent seeding and fertiliser application. However, the diversity of seed and fertiliser particle types and particle flow modes presents a challenge for existing detection methods, particularly in meeting the varying operational requirements, especially for particle mass flow detection in low-altitude and high-speed sowing operations of agricultural drones. In such cases, the overlap and flow rate will have a significant impact on the detection results due to the large displacement and the continuous high-throughput dense phase of the particle flow. This paper provides a summary of the existing seed and fertiliser particle mass flow detection techniques and their underlying working principles. It compares the direct detection based on mass with the indirect detection methods based on velocity and concentration, and analyses their respective advantages, disadvantages and applicability. It also explores the possibility of optimising the existing detection methods for the specific needs of agricultural UAVs and considers the potential introduction of cutting-edge science and technology in order to develop an efficient, accurate and convenient detection system to meet the growing market demand. © (2025), (INMA Bucharest).
