In industrial sites, multiple real-time control systems often share computing resources. However, burst computing tasks may lead to the dropping of control computing subtasks, resulting in potential hazards. To address this issue, we propose a safety-aware task scheduling scheme. When burst computing tasks are triggered, this scheduling scheme adaptively releases resources from low-criticality control computing subtasks, ensuring the timely completion of burst computing tasks and keeping the control system state deviation within a safe threshold. To achieve the scheduling scheme, we propose an efficient algorithm called ADP-Opt. It decouples the complex original problem into multiple subproblems, which greatly reduces the search space and improves the solution efficiency. In the suboptimization problem, safety is maintained by limiting the upper bound of the system state's deviation to below the threshold. By introducing a penalty term in the cost function related to computing resources, we aim to balance the impact of control computing subtasks on control performance and the consumption of computing resources. Consequently, the overall cost of the control system can be minimized while releasing enough resources for burst computing tasks. Simulation results show that the scheduling decisions made by ADP-Opt can approach the optimal decision by approximately 99% efficiently. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The increase in frequency and intensity of Extreme High-temperature Events(EHEs)over Central-Eastern China(CEC)in recent decades has severely impacted social development and *** observation and reanalysis datasets,this study explores the effect of the East Asian subtropical westerly jet stream(EAJ)on the CEC EHEs for the summers spanning 1979–*** its general relative location to the right side of the upper-level jet stream exit region,CEC would theoretically suffer more EHEs with a stronger and northwardly-shifted EAJ in summer due to the likelihood of abnormal subsidence induced by the ***,such an EAJ–EHE connection has been unstable over the past four decades but has displayed an evident interdecadal *** the late 1990s,the interannual variation of the EAJ was manifested mainly by its meridional displacement in the northeastern part of East Asia;thus,the atmospheric responses were essentially located to the east of CEC,exerting less of an influence on the CEC ***,since the late 1990s,the EAJ variation has featured an intensity change in its center over the northwest portion of the CEC,which has resulted in a westward shift in atmospheric responses to cover the CEC ***,the EAJ could potentially affect the summer CEC EHEs during 2000–*** findings offer support for an in-depth understanding of the formation mechanisms of extreme weather/climate events of this nature and thus provide a scientific reference for seasonal climate predictions.

Aiming at accurate identification of emerging new faults in PV systems, a novel PV fault diagnosis framework based on cloud-edge collaboration is designed. Model updates are deployed on the cloud servers, while real-time diagnosis is implemented at the edge devices. A multi-label learning model is developed to extract fault features efficiently, and a threshold scheme is further designed for feature enhancement. The obtained features are processed by K-Means clustering and the One-Class Support Vector Machine (OCSVM) methods, which can accurately diagnose existing types and identify unknown faults. For analysis and demonstration, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and t-Distributed Stochastic Neighbor Embedding (t-SNE) methods are used for dimensionality reduction and visualization. Numerical results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In terms of telepresence for robotic teleoperation, the existing remote surgery provides the patient’s side real-time videos to remote operators. Its effectiveness is limited due to the lack of depth information, occlusion, and restricted viewing angles. To address it, this paper develops a robotic telepresence framework integrating augmented reality (AR) and 3D reconstruction technology, providing a 3D virtual patient’s side environment for remote operators. The real scene of the patient’s side is reconstructed by a monocular camera with a manipulator before the operation, and the manipulator is teleoperated by the operator at the remote’s side. The manipulator’s pose is fused into the classic SVO+REMODE algorithm to improve the reconstructed accuracy. On the remote’s side, an AR head-mounted display (HMD) is deployed to provide telepresence for operators under a similar environment, and the reconstructed scene of the patient’s side is registered to the remote room, from which the operator can see the whole scene of the patient body and surrounding objects. An ArUco cube is used to evaluate the superimposed error between virtual and real displays, and the effectiveness is validated in an experimental platform for remote surgery.

In order to mitigate the adverse impact of denial of service (DoS) attacks, this work designs a parameter self-tuning controller based on fuzzy rules for vehicle platoons with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Aiming at achieving the cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) of the vehicles with a required inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity, while considering the possible DoS attacks, we propose a parameter self-tuning longitudinal controller combining linear control and fuzzy control to enhance the stability and resilience of the platoon systems. Firstly, by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the mechanism of DoS attacks, we establish the dynamic model of vehicle platoons and model the impact of random DoS attacks as a constant data transmission delay, whose probability distribution can be defined using the Bernoulli random variable. Then, a linear controller based on fuzzy control is designed for longitudinal control to guarantee that the platoon keeps a reference velocity and the specified inter-vehicle distance under DoS attacks. Finally, thorough simulations are performed and the detailed results show the performance of the secure longitudinal control scheme for vehicle platoons in terms of stability and security.

As an important component in the industry sector, the integrated energy chemical system is inescapably responsible for carbon reduction in addition to economic and reliability performance. We propose a novel streaming-data-driven multi-objective optimal operation for ammonia-based integrated energy chemical systems (AIECS). In the day ahead scheduling, a detailed mathematical model for AIECS is presented, upon which a multi-objective optimization considering cost, CO 2 emission and reliability is established. For the intra-day operation, an event-triggered mechanism is firstly developed in the real-time operation of AIECS, and it enables the AIECS to be risk-aware just in time. By monitoring the difference between the predicted state of charge and the capacity limitations of battery, the AIECS identifies whether it is in hazardous regime. Then, the intelligent switch between certainty equivalence model predictive control and online-learning based distributionally robust model predictive control is proposed, such that their respective advantages are leveraged. Case studies demonstrate that the proposed approach guarantees the system safety, and brings good revenue.

NeSLAM: Neural Implicit Mapping and Self-Supervised Feature Tracking With Depth Completion and Denoising

In recent years, there have been significant advancements in 3D reconstruction and dense RGB-D SLAM systems. One notable development is the application of Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) in these systems, which utilizes implicit neural representation to encode 3D scenes. This extension of NeRF to SLAM has shown promising results. However, the depth images obtained from consumer-grade RGB-D sensors are often sparse and noisy, which poses significant challenges for 3D reconstruction and affects the accuracy of the representation of the scene geometry. Moreover, the original hierarchical feature grid with occupancy value is inaccurate for scene geometry representation. Furthermore, the existing methods select random pixels for camera tracking, which leads to inaccurate localization and is not robust in real-world indoor environments. To this end, we present NeSLAM, an advanced framework that achieves accurate and dense depth estimation, robust camera tracking, and realistic synthesis of novel views. First, a depth completion and denoising network is designed to provide dense geometry prior and guide the neural implicit representation optimization. Second, the occupancy scene representation is replaced with Signed Distance Field (SDF) hierarchical scene representation for high-quality reconstruction and view synthesis. Furthermore, we also propose a NeRF-based self-supervised feature tracking algorithm for robust real-time tracking. Experiments on various indoor datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the system in reconstruction, tracking quality, and novel view synthesis. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

The rapid advancement of terahertz(THz) technology has sparked significant interest in exploring tunable broadband functionaldevices. In this study, we propose an antisymmetric graphene skeletonized structure to achieve a terahertz double-perfect broadbandabsorber. This absorber consists of a gold (Au) substrate, a TOPAS dielectric layer, and C4 regular antisymmetric-patternedgraphene embedded in the polymer. It exhibits two unpolarized perfect absorbing broadbands through the resonance mechanisms oflocalized surface-isolated exciton resonance and electromagnetic dipole resonance. The results indicate high absorbance exceeding90% across two distinct frequency ranges of 0.93-2.03 THz and 4.16-5.3 THz. The dual-broadband absorption feature stems fromthe pronounced aggregation effect of the "Hollow-out corner" on the electric field, enabling modulation of the second Harmonicwhile leaving the first Harmonic largely unaffected. The absorber’s response can be dynamically tuned through adjusting the Fermienergy level and structural parameters of graphene. Our design opens up possibilities for diverse applications, in photodetectors,THz modulation, and stealth technologies. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, a distributed energy allocation strategy for energy shortage scenarios is proposed. Users are allowed to set the priority order so that the proposed strategy is able to meet the urgent needs. A building model containing three zones is created in Energyplus and the strategy is deployed in *** introducing Mle+, a joint simulation of MATLAB and Energyplus is implemented. Centralized, decentralized and distributed model predictive control are applied to the energy shortage scenario respectively, and the results show that our approach can satisfy the urgent need for energy supply.
