Social learning focuses on the opinion dynamics in the society, which has attracted more and more researchers recently. Different from the existing results on the consensus of social learning in complex networks with one true state, in this paper we study the social learning in the network society with multi-true-states. A new network social learning model is constructed, where agents from different groups receive different signal sequences generated by different true states. Each agent updates his belief by combining a Bayesian rule on the external signal and a non-Bayesian rule related with his neighboring agents. We analyze the dynamical process, and find that the beliefs of all agents are oscillating all the time and can not access to their corresponding true states, which is totally different from the consensus on social learning with one-true-state. Furthermore, by calculating the largest Lyapunov exponents, chaos is found in the social learning with multi-true-sates.

Steam generator water level controlsystem is the most important components of the nuclear power plant. The operating steam generator water level controller is increasingly recognized as a capital asset that should be maintained and monitored routinely. However, this issue as the control loop performance assessment problem is still open. Considering this issue, a major contribution of this paper is to take the performance assessment technology into this industrial area, steam generator water level controlsystem in nuclear power plants, where not much work has been done before. In terms of a class of steam generator water level controlsystems, two PI controller systems, performance assessment methods for the plant with stable and unstable zeros are developed at specific power level. An numerical example shows the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Shared control is a common used method for human and wheelchair cooperation. However, most of the previous shared control methods didn’t think much of the effect caused by the difference in the user’s control ability. The control weight of a user in these methods is irrelevant to the user’s capability or the driving conditions. In this paper, a dynamic shared control method is proposed to adapt wheelchair’s assistance to the variations of user performance and the environmental changes. Three evaluation indices including safety, comfort and obedience are designed to evaluate wheelchair performance in real time. A minimax multi-objective optimization algorithm is adopted to calculate the user’s control weight. The results of lab experiments and elderly home field tests show that this method can adapt the degree of wheelchair’s autonomy to the user’s control ability and it makes driving wheelchair much easier for elder people.

This article describes a split-range tuning method based on the well developed IMC-PID controller for the parameters of the MacPID controller. The goal is to simplify the tuning complexity. Detailed tuning procedure is provided. The FOPTD model is employed to compare the proposed idea with the well known tuning methods, such as Ziegler-Nichols, Cohen-Coon and MacPID method to illustrate the simplicity and the practicality of our strategy.

Computing the shortest paths in graphs is a fundamental problem with numerous applications. The rapid growth of network in size and complexity has made it necessary to decrease the execution time of the shortest path algorithm. We develop an effective graph partition method to retrieve Balanced Traversing Distance partitions and constitute a hierchical graph model based on the decomposed network for accelerating the path queries. We then propose a new heuristic hierarchical routing algorithm that can significantly reduce the search space by pruning unpromising subgraph branches. We evaluate our approach experimentally under different network partition schemes to show the gain in performance.

Performance assessment for nonlinear controlsystems is of great current interest. In this paper, a class of nonlinear systems are concerned. The analytical benchmark performance and the associated benchmark controller are established by minimizing the variance of the measurement output. Similar to. ltering and correlation analysis (FCOR) algorithm, the calculation of performance index in higherorder statistics forms is proposed. To facilitate assessment, a filtering or whitening method is also presented. The white noise sequence is estimated by dynamic principal component analysis (DPCA) based on the nonlinear autoregressive exogenous (NARX) model. By comparison with traditional method, the proposed method can effectively avoid biased estimation of control performance for nonlinear systems. The numerical example indicates the effectiveness of the proposed performance assessment method.
