We address robust stabilization problem for networked controlsystems with nonlinear uncertainties and packet losses by modelling such systems as a class of uncertain switched systems. Based on theories on switched Lyapunov functions, we derive the robustly stabilizing conditions for state feedback stabilization and design packet-loss dependent controllers by solving some matrix inequalities. A numerical example and some simulations are worked out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design method.

To answer the problem of ambiguous design levels, the hierarchical system model based on quotient space theory was proposed. The model consisted of the system global design level, the architecture level and the execution structure level. Furthermore, in order to establish the formal system design model, an allocation model was proposed based on simulation tasks, simulation resources and simulation services, including the relationship constraints between them. Finally, the model was verified based on a concrete simulation system design example.

Considering the characteristics of the servo system, such as disturbance, nonlinearity and high inertia, variable structure controller (VSC) based on extended state observers (ESO) are designed for the aim of quick, stable and high-accuracy controlling processes. The disturbances and high-order factors are estimated and compensated using ESO. Dynamic compensation reduces the motion system to approximately a triple integrator which can be easily controlled using VSC. Because ESO provides a high-frequency path for the dynamic state not modelled, the chatter of VSC is reduced. Through tests in the gun turret system, it was shown that this controller is superior to the engineering PID and general VSC.

This paper presents a new soft switching bidirectional buck or boost DC-DC converter. Compared to the traditional bidirectional DC-DC converter, the new topology can be used as a buck converter or a boost converter in bidirectional cases for Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) and Electrosorb Technology (EST) etc. This new converter has the advantages of simple circuit and control strategy, soft-switching implementation without additional devices, high power density, low cost, light weight and high reliability. The operating principle, theoretical analysis, and design guidelines are provided in this paper. The simulation and the experimental verifications are also presented.

The phenomenon of aggregation and dilation(A&D) widely exists in nature. The mechanism behind it is regarded as the effect of some kind of attraction and repulsion(A&R). A&R control becomes a popular and promising way of controlling the structure and distribution of a group composed of several and even numerous individuals. This paper presents the concepts of aggregation, dilation and group evolution criticality based on group variance. We investigate the relationship between different levels of A&D as a foundation for the introduction of A&D analysis. The applications of A&D analysis and A&R control in several researches, including population-based optimization and group behavior control about multi-agent, are given in the form of simulation experiments.

In order to solve the signal timing of the urban single-point intersection under the mixed-traffic, the shortest average delay were taken as objective, and the intersection geometry shape, channelization status and prohibition of traffic flow conflicts were taken as restrictions. A new global search algorithm combining adaptive genetic algorithm with co-evolutionary algorithm was put forward to solve the optimization problem, and simulation test with the actual data of Tiyuchang-Jianguo intersection indicates that the proposed algorithm overcomes the shortcomings such as local convergence, compared with traditional genetic algorithm; and it is feasible and effective for mixed-traffic signal timing at signalized intersection.

Traffic flow models had become an important tool for modeling the operations of dynamic traffic systems. Different traffic flow model had its advantage and disadvantage. While microscopic simulation models provided a more detailed representation of the traffic process, were macroscopic and mesoscopic models able to simulate traffic dynamic of large networks in lesser detail, but without the problems of application and calibration of microscopic models. In order to take the advantage of them, hybrid traffic flow models are introduced in this paper. They are combined by two or three kinds of traffic flow models which are mentioned above. A hybrid approach could remedy these shortcomings by limiting the size of microscopic simulation to specific areas where detail is needed, reducing application and calibration efforts and improving simulation speed on a larger surrounding. Some research orientations and problems are discussed at the end of paper.

Marriage in Honey Bees Optimization (MBO) is a new swarm-intelligence method, but existing researches concentrate more on its application in single-objective optimization. In this paper, we focus on improving the algorithm to solve the multi-objective problem and increasing its convergence speed. The proposed algorithm is named as multi-objective Particle Swarm Marriage in Honey Bees Optimization (MOPSMBO). It uses non-dominated sorting strategy and crowded-comparison approach, utilizes the local Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to perform the local characteristic, and simpler the structure of MBO. Based on the Markov chain theory, we prove that MOPSMBO can converge with probability one to the entire set of minimal elements. Simulations are done on several multi-objective test functions and multi-objective Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). By comparing MOPSMBO with MOGA, NPGA, NSGA and NSGA-II, simulation results show that MOPSMBO has better convergence speed and can better converge near the true Pareto-optimal front.

An adaptive fuzzy H control scheme which possesses the strongpoint of adaptive fuzzy control and H control was proposed in this paper. The adaptive fuzzy control can compensate the nonlinear dynamic friction with its universal approximation function and strong robustness, while the H control can suppress the disturbance efficaciously. Finally, the closed-loop system stability and asymptotic position tracking performance were guaranteed by the Lyapunov function and the system tracking accuracy improved, which was verified by the simulation results.

We consider the output feedback stabilizability of networked controlsystems with bounded packet loss. A packet-loss dependent Lyapunov function is adopted to design packet-loss dependent stabilizing output feedback controllers by resolving some linear matrix inequalities. Moreover, two types of packet-loss processes are discussed: one is the arbitrary packet-loss process, and the other is the Markovian packet-loss process. A numerical example and some simulations are worked out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed design technique.
