General electronic structure calculation method for twisted systems

In recent years, two-dimensional twisted systems have gained increasing attention. However, calculating the electronic structures in twisted materials has remained a challenge. To address this, we have developed a general computational methodology that can generate twisted geometries starting from a monolayer structure and obtain a precisely relaxed twisted structure through a machine learning-based method. Then, the electronic structure properties of the twisted material are calculated using the tight-binding (TB) and continuum model methods; thus, the entire process requires minimal computational resources. We introduce the theoretical methods for generating twisted structures and computing their electronic properties, and further provide calculations and brief analyses of the electronic structure properties for several typical two-dimensional materials with different characteristics. This paper serves as a solid foundation for researchers interested in studying twisted systems.

Swarm robotics realize collaboration through information interaction among robots. One of the key aspects of stable and reliable operation of swarm robotics is protecting the privacy and content of the interactive data. Blockchain has been traditionally applied to digital currency due to its decentralization and high security features. Since robots can serve as a node in blockchain, and both swarm robotics and blockchain share the distributed architecture, there is great potential to apply blockchain technology to ensure the security of interactive data in swarm robotics. In this paper, a brief review of the current studies on the applying blockchain to swarm robotics is given. In addition, a blockchain data protection method is employed to protect the data integrity and privacy of swarm robotics. Finally, a simulation using the swarm robotics simulator and the Ethereum blockchain test network is conducted. Early forest fire image recognition plays an important role in timely fire fighting. This paper proposes an early forest fire recognition method based on C-GhostNet network. The C-GhostNet network is an improved version of GhostNet, which mainly consists of a series of c-ghost bottlenecks, each c-ghost bottleneck mainly consists of two c-ghost modules. Through the concat operation and channel shuffle, the c-ghost module establishes the relationship between the input data and the output features generated by the original ghost module, so that GhostNet network has the ability to capture contextual features. The experimental results show that the C-GhostNet network achieves better recognition performance than GhostNet without introducing additional computational load, and the running speed reaches about 20FPS, which basically realizes real-time recognition. In addition, like GhostN et, the C-GhostNet network is also a lightweight network. © 2022 IEEE.

The rapid adoption of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) highlights the necessity for a robust testing environment to ensure the reliability, safety, and efficiency of control algorithms. Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) simulation constitutes a critical step in the validation of these systems prior to their deployment in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations or real-world flight trials. This study introduces the design and the implementation of a SIL simulation platform for UAV applications. The proposed environment integrates X-Plane 12 as a high-fidelity flight dynamics simulation engine, Python-based implementation of control algorithms, and a custom-designed Ground control Station (GCS). The simulator enables performance evaluation of control algorithms throughout various trajectories and under diverse scenarios. Simulation outcomes validate the capability of the SIL simulation environment to accurately replicate UAV flight dynamics and generate meaningful insights into the performance and robustness of tested control algorithms.

A compact magnetoelectric (ME) dipole antenna is presented in this paper. By etching four parallel transverse slits in the surface of the antenna, the current path flowing along the patch could be lengthened, and therefore the antenna size can be reduced. To verify the design idea, a prototype was designed at 60 GHz. The antenna size was optimized to 1.67 times 1.57text{mm} {2}, namely 0.33 lambda {0}times 0.31lambda {0}, where lambda {0} is the wavelength in the free space at 60 GHz. A simulated 18.6% 10-dB impedance bandwidth can be obtained, from 54.7 to 65.9 GHz. The simulated peak gain is 7.4 dBi at 60 GHz. This proposed compact antenna can be a good candidate for millimeter-wave (mmW) Antenna-in-Package (A iP) designs with High-density interconnect (HDI) technology. © 2021 IEEE.

The rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market presents potential threats to public security and personal privacy, and the vision sensors are widely deployed to detect the invasive UAVs because of the intuitivity and accessibility of the video. However, the small pixel area and weak morphological characteristics of distant invasive UAVs pose a considerable challenge to the detection precision. Prior work on UAV detection simply focuses on the information fusion between different feature layers, but ignoring the feature information inside each layer. In addition, to detect small UAV in video streams, the motion information of the target is also a noteworthy feature. In this regard, we propose a feature super-resolution-based UAV detector with motion information extractor. The proposed network fully utilizes the motion information of UAVs between temporal frames and the spatial invariant features between different resolution frames to pursue a high-accuracy small UAV detection performance. Experiments on Drone vs Birds dataset are carried out, and it is demonstrated that a higher detection accuracy on small UAVs is achieved compared with the baseline. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper studies the consensus problem of linear multi-agent systems (MASs) with relative output measurement on undirected graphs. Output-feedback protocols are designed for both leaderless and leader-follower consensus. Different from [1], dynamic event-triggered sampling strategies are integrated to reduce the communication burdens between agents. Compared with most of the existing results which are based absolute output, the proposed protocols are based on sampled relative output. Finally, a simulation example is provided to illustrate the theoretical results.

A back-to-back folded dipole antenna is presented in this paper. Comprised of a pair of two symmetric folded microstrip lines, this presented antenna is fed by parallel vias coupled from an open-ended grounded co-planar waveguide (GCPW), which is used to obtain desired differential current. To have a more symmetric radiation pattern, a back-to-back structure is employed. The idea was verified with a prototype designed for 60-GHz millimeter-wave applications. After optimization using ANSYS HFSS, the size of the antenna can be obtained as 1.0 x 1.1 mm2, namely 0.20 λ0x 0.22 λ0, where λ0 is the wavelength in the free space at 60 GHz. A wide 10-dB impedance wideband of 32.2% (52.9-73.3 GHz) can be obtained. Having the advantages of wide bandwidth and small size, this antenna is thus suitable for millimeter-wave antenna-in-package designs. © 2021 IEEE.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is extensively employed in earth remote sensing, including both civilian and military sectors. Currently, establishing the correspondence between strong scattering regions in SAR images and the 3D geometry of the target has become a research hotspot. Traditional methods based on scattering center modeling overly rely on prior knowledge and manual annotation. However, neural network-based approaches often lack the constraints of SAR imaging principles when performing feature extraction. In this paper, we propose a method for analyzing strong scattering in SAR images based on a differentiable simulator to visualize the correspondence between strong scattering in SAR images and the 3D geometry of the target. Specifically, the differentiable simulator accumulates the scattering intensity in the scattering simulation stage to generate simulated SAR images at multi-pose. By computing the loss with the SAR image in the dataset (ground truth), the differentiable simulator can provide a direct mapping from the strong scattering in SAR images to the target's 3D structures. The effectiveness of the method is validated on a dataset of simulated SAR images based on the MSTAR. From the result we obtained, the correspondence between the 3D structures of the target model and the strong scattering in the image can be intuitively and clearly determined.
