The electro-hydraulic load simulator which can simulate the load executed on the aircraft actuator in the process of flight is an important ground test equipment. The uncertainties of the system including the disturbances caused by the motion of actuator make it challenging to achieve high performance. This study develops an adaptive iterative learning controller for the torque control of electro-hydraulic load simulator utilizing the backstepping method. On the basis of adaptive backstepping control, this controller incorporates iterative learning law to learn unknown nonlinear functions. By utilizing the repetitive characteristic of the test equipment, the iterative learning law sacrifices learning time to achieve enhanced control performance. To handle unknown disturbances, filter error, and learning error, a robust term described by dynamic equations is constructed. The calculation of the derivative of the virtual control law is simplified with a first-order command filter. Simulations with three different controllers are obtained to illustrate the learning ability of the proposed controller. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

Curvilinear Structure segmentation has numerous applications in various fields, including providing a better understanding of defects such as cracks on roads or walls, thereby assessing the structural safety of buildings. Numerous curve segmentation methods based on Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) have been developed in recent years. However, preserving feature integrity remains a challenge. To address this issue, this paper introduces a double dynamic network, called DD-Net, which consists of a dynamic structure for training and dynamic masking for inference. Firstly, to enhance the nonlinearity of the model, a paradigm to auto-adjust the CNN structure via a trainable module is formed for better fine-grained feature extraction. This dynamic structure (DS) paradigm enables a trade-off to extract or discard the feature data in the model training. Due to the data heterogeneity between the training and inference data, models may contain some useless nodes that are less effective during inference. The dynamic masking (DM) is proposed to omit the useless nodes based on the score difference between the train and inference feature statistics, thereby reducing redundant computations. To further improve the model’s performance on thin-curve segmentation and to preserve feature integrity, we introduce a non-curve suppression (NCS) module. This module focuses on background information while considering foreground prediction to address noisy conditions. The experimental results show that our DD-Net achieves promising results on three benchmark datasets and outperforms state-of-the-art curve segmentation models. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) is regarded as the "game changer" of the next generation fighter, although the performance and effect are yet to be further and thoroughly assessed. This paper designs and implements an integrated airborne information-energy integrated system for DEW-involved air combat simulation. The functional requirements of the simulation system are analyzed based on the OODA loop model. The architecture and data interaction relationships are then designed following a hierarchical modular approach, utilizing DDS technology to establish a data communication interface. Critical systems such as radar, actuator, DEW thermal management, etc., are modeled, and the simulation system is implemented in Python. Experimental results indicate that the simulation system can support assessing and validating tactical decisions for DEW air combat. © The Institution of Engineering & Technology 2024.

Terahertz technology has shown remarkable potential for application in the field of imaging since it offers several particular advantages such as great penetration capabilities, non-ionization and high instantaneous bandwidth. This paper presents a focal plane imging system based on CMOS terathertz detector for forward-looking detection. The focal plane imaging system has several advantages, including fast scanning, simple composition, low cost, and easy integration of a CMOS detector. It is composed of a terahertz radiation source, a Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) lens and a broadband CMOS detector. The detector was fabricated in a 65 nm CMOS process. The operating frequency range of the detector covers 75 GHz to 1000 GHz. Measurement results have shown that the focal plane imaging system is capable of stably imaging at frequencies of 100 GHz and 220 GHz. To address the issue of missing information in measurement images, the morphological closing algorithm is employed to process the original image, successfully filling in the missing information and improving image quality. © 2024 Institute of Physics Publishing. Deep learning-based 3D object detectors often require large-scale labeled 3D datasets, which can be expensive to annotate. To tackle this issue, we introduce a core-set sampling strategy within an active learning framework, selecting highly informative data from a data pool to reduce reliance on such datasets. Additionally, we introduce a scale-sensitive loss function into the 3D object detector to mitigate the disparities in the influence of small and large objects on model learning, thereby enhancing the accuracy of small object detection. Our experiments on the KITTI dataset demonstrate that our method achieves comparable results to the baseline using only 20% of the data. Notably, our approach outperforms the baseline in small object detection, with an 8% accuracy improvement for pedestrians and a 4% improvement for cyclists. ProtDAT: A Unified Framework for Protein Sequence Design from Any Protein Text Description

Protein design has become a critical method in advancing significant potential for various applications such as drug development and enzyme engineering. However, protein design methods utilizing large language models with solely pretraining and fine-tuning struggle to capture relationships in multi-modal protein data. To address this, we propose ProtDAT, a de novo fine-grained framework capable of designing proteins from any descriptive protein text input. ProtDAT builds upon the inherent characteristics of protein data to unify sequences and text as a cohesive whole rather than separate entities. It leverages an innovative multi-modal cross-attention, integrating protein sequences and textual information for a foundational level and seamless integration. Experimental results demonstrate that ProtDAT achieves the state-of-the-art performance in protein sequence generation, excelling in rationality, functionality, structural similarity, and validity. On 20,000 text-sequence pairs from Swiss-Prot, it improves pLDDT by 6%, TM-score by 0.26, and reduces RMSD by 1.2 Å, highlighting its potential to advance protein design. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

A wideband L-probe fed antenna-in-package (AiP) module for 60-GHz short-range radar applications is proposed in this work. This module comprises two close identical patch antennas, serving as the transmitter and the receiver. Each antenna element is a cavity-backed patch fed with an L-probe. The antenna module has a wide impedance bandwidth of 17.9% (56.0-67.0 GHz) and stable radiation patterns across the operating band. By rotating both antennas by 45°, their mutual coupling level is significantly reduced. The AiP module is evaluated through system-level simulation in a multi-target ranging scenario. A high level of range resolution can be obtained with this module, making it a good candidate for short-range millimeter-wave radar systems. © 2024 IEEE.
