In order to effectively increase the information content of multidimensional spectral images of complex solutions and improve the accuracy of complex solution component analysis, this article proposes a method of using a wedge-shaped model (DILA-WSM) at different incident angles to improve the detection accuracy of complex solutions. In this study, Monte Carlo method was used to simulate photon propagation in wedge-shaped models at different incident angles, and multi-dimensional spectral images were obtained under different optical parameters. A regression model of 26 multi-dimensional spectral images collected under DILA-WSM and different optical parameters was established using partial least squares regression (PLSR). Compared with the traditional flat model, the introduction of DILA-WSM increased the average correlation coefficient (Rp) of the prediction set by 0.5862 and reduced the root mean square error of the prediction set (RMSEP) by 0.0392. The results show that the introduction of DILA-WSM can effectively increase the information content of multi-dimensional spectral images of complex solutions, thereby improving the accuracy of complex solution component analysis. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

FoldExplorer: Fast and Accurate Protein Structure Search with Sequence-Enhanced Graph Embedding

The advent of highly accurate protein structure prediction methods has fueled an exponential expansion of the protein structure database. Consequently, there is a rising demand for rapid and precise structural homolog search. Traditional alignment-based methods are dedicated to precise comparisons between pairs, exhibiting high accuracy. However, their sluggish processing speed is no longer adequate for managing the current massive volume of data. In response to this challenge, we propose a novel deep-learning approach FoldExplorer. It harnesses the powerful capabilities of graph attention neural networks and protein large language models for protein structures and sequences data processing to generate embeddings for protein structures. The structural embeddings can be used for fast and accurate protein search. And the embeddings also provide insights into the protein space. FoldExplorer demonstrates a substantial performance improvement of 5% to 8% over the current state-of-the-art algorithm on the benchmark datasets. Meanwhile, FoldExplorer does not compromise on search speed and excels particularly in searching on a large-scale dataset. Copyright © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper studies the quantitative measurement method of risk occurrence and possible spread among petrochemical supply chain enterprise nodes. Combined with the characteristics of petrochemical supply chain network, a risk propagation model of the supply chain based on cascading failure process is proposed, and a simulation experiment of risk propagation is carried out to investigate the different model parameters and different risk source enterprises on the communication process. According to experimental results, this paper puts forward targeted preventive measures to achieve the prevention and control of supply chain risk, which has important guiding significance for the regular operation of the petrochemical supply chain. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Simplified Self-homodyne Coherent System Based on Alamouti Coding and Digital Subcarrier Multiplexing

Coherent technology inherent with more available degrees of freedom is deemed a competitive solution for next-generation ultra-high-speed short-reach optical interconnects. However, the fatal barriers to implementing the conventional coherent system in short-reach optical interconnect are the cost, footprint, and power consumption. Self-homodyne coherent system exhibits its potential to reduce the power consumption of the receiver-side digital signal processing (Rx-DSP) by delivering the local oscillator (LO) from the transmitter. However, an automatic polarization controller (APC) is inevitable in the remote LO link to avoid polarization fading, resulting in additional costs. To address the polarization fading issue, a simplified self-homodyne coherent system is proposed enabled by Alamouti coding in this paper. Benefiting from the Alamouti coding between two polarizations, a polarization-insensitive receiver only including a 3dB coupler, a 90° Hybrid, and two balanced photodiodes (BPDs) is sufficient for reception. Meanwhile, the APC in the LO link is needless, simplifying the receiver structure significantly. Besides, the digital subcarrier multiplexing (DSCM) technique is also adopted to relax the computational complexity of the chromatic dispersion compensation (CDC), which is one of the dominant power consumption modules in Rx-DSP. The transmission performance of 50Gbaud 4-subcarrier 16/32QAM (4SC-16/32QAM) DSCM signal based on the proposed simplified self-homodyne coherent system is investigated experimentally. The results show that the bit-error-ratio (BER) performance degradation caused by CD can be solved by increasing 4 taps in the equalizer for 80km single mode fiber (SMF) transmission without individual CDC, which operates in a low-complexity manner. FIXDRIVE: Automatically Repairing Autonomous Vehicle Driving Behaviour for $0.08 per Violation

Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) are advancing rapidly, with Level-4 AVs already operating in real-world conditions. Current AVs, however, still lag behind human drivers in adaptability and performance, often exhibiting overly conservative behaviours and occasionally violating traffic laws. Existing solutions, such as runtime enforcement, mitigate this by automatically repairing the AV’s planned trajectory at runtime, but such approaches lack transparency and should be a measure of last resort. It would be preferable for AV repairs to generalise beyond specific incidents and to be interpretable for users. In this work, we propose FIXDRIVE, a framework that analyses driving records from near-misses or law violations to generate AV driving strategy repairs that reduce the chance of such incidents occurring again. These repairs are captured in µDrive, a high-level domain-specific language for specifying driving behaviours in response to event-based triggers. Implemented for the state-of-the-art autonomous driving system Apollo, FIXDRIVE identifies and visualises critical moments from driving records, then uses a Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) with zero-shot learning to generate µDrive programs. We tested FIXDRIVE on various benchmark scenarios, and found that the generated repairs improved the AV’s performance with respect to following traffic laws, avoiding collisions, and successfully reaching destinations. Furthermore, the direct costs of repairing an AV—15 minutes of offline analysis and $0.08 per violation—are reasonable in practice. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Multifunctional metasurface based on vanadium dioxide in the terahertz frequency

As metasurface technology has been developing rapidly over the past decades, multi-multiplexing and tunability are evolving into hot spots in its development. Here, a metasurface fit for vortex beam generation, beam focusing, linear-to-circular polarization conversion, and absorption is proposed in this study, contingent upon the phase change properties of vanadium dioxide. When the temperature is 25°C, the vortex beam and focusing generated when the circularly polarized wave is incident on the metasurface, the calculated outcomes demonstrate that the cross-polarization reflective coefficient is close to the co-polarization coefficient at the frequency range of 0.5–0.9 THz and 1.2–1.5 THz, implementing the linear-to-circular polarization conversion. When heated up to 68°C, it functions as an absorber at 1.55 THz when the y-polarized wave is incident vertically on the metasurface. The designed metasurface is likely to be used in the fields of terahertz communication and imaging systems.

After 400G fiber-optical communication standard is proposed, considerable attention has been paid to the next-generation optical network. In this paper, we propose a zipper encoder architecture with low-overhead memory and optimized BCH encoder. Working at 500MHz, the zipper encoder can achieve throughput of 962Gbps, which meets the requirement of 800G optical communication system. The whole design was implemented with Design Compiler in the TSMC 65nm. Result shows that our design achieves 1.8x/1.7x energy-efficiency and 2.2x/1.2x area-efficiency higher than prior 200G/400G staircase encoders. © 2021 IEEE.

Recently, a new concept called multiplicative differential was introduced by Ellingsen et al. [7]. As an extension of the differential uniformity, it is theoretically appealing to determine the properties of c-differential uniformity and the corresponding c-differential spectrum. In this paper, based on certain quadratic character sums and two special elliptic curves over $$\mathbb {F}_p$$ , the $$(-1)$$ -differential spectra of the following two classes of power functions over $$\mathbb {F}_{p^n}$$ is completely determined: (1) $$f_1(x)=x^{\frac{p^n+3}{2}}$$ , where $$p>3$$ and $$p\equiv 3\pmod 4$$ ; (2) $$f_2(x)=x^{p^n-3}$$ , where $$p>3$$ . The obtained result shows that the $$(-1)$$ -differential spectra of $$f_1(x)$$ and $$f_2(x)$$ can be expressed explicitly in terms of n. Moreover, an upper bound of the c-differential uniformity of $$f_2(x)$$ is given.

In the process industry, limit cycles are mostly induced by stiction-related nonlinearity in control valves, severely deteriorating control loop performance. Such problem highlights the importance of compensating for oscillations due to valve stiction. To this end, this work introduces an improved PI controller(IPIC) for stiction compensation, which retains the advantages of the traditional PI controller with fewer adjustment parameters. The enhancement involves nonlinear variation of the integral gain based on instantaneous error. Additionally, a differential evolution algorithm is utilized for controller *** to state-of-the-art methods in setpoint tracking, disturbance rejection, and robustness to parameter uncertainties, the proposed approach exhibits superior performance.

The rapid development of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market poses potential threats to public safety and personal privacy, and vision sensors are widely deployed to detect intruding drones due to the intuitiveness and accessibility of videos. However, the pixel area of long-distance intrusion drones is small and the morphological features are weak, which makes identification and positioning difficult. At present, a lot of work has focused on improving the detection accuracy of drones, but there is very little to improve the detection speed of drones and shorten the network training time. Therefore, we propose a drone detector with high accuracy, short training time, and fast inference speed. In this work, we choose Centernet from the consideration of a light-head, single-stage, and anchor-free design that enables fast inference. In addition, we improve the original framework of Centernet through the separation strategy of identification features and positioning features. Furthermore, encoding more training samples from annotated boxes has a similar effect to increasing the batch size, which helps to increase the learning rate and speed up the training process. To this end, we introduce a new method of Gaussian elliptic coding and propose a new loss function for it. Considering the complexity of background during flight and the small size of the drone compared to the background, a background filter is used to reduce the influence of the complex background. In this paper, the proposed model is trained and tested on the Drone-vs-Bird dataset, and its mAP reaches 83.7%, and its FPS reaches 29.6. © 2023 IEEE.
