Corners play an important role on image processing, while it is difficult to detect reliable and repeatable corners in SAR images due to the complex property of SAR sensors. In this paper, we propose a fast and novel corner detection method for SAR imagery. First, a local processing window is constructed for each point. We use the local mean of a 3 × 3 mask to represent a single point, which is weighted by a Gaussian template. Then the candidate point is compared with 16 surrounding points in the processing window. Considering the multiplicative property of speckle noise, the similarity measure between the center point and the surrounding points is calculated by the ratio of their local means. If there exist more than M continuous points are different from the center point, then the candidate point is labelled as a corner point. Finally, a selection strategy is implemented by ranking the corner score and employing the non-maxima suppression method. Extreme situations such as isolated bright points are also removed. Experimental results on both simulated and real-world SAR images show that the proposed detector has a high repeatability and a low localization error, compared with other state-of-the-art detectors.

Due to the high resolution property and the side-looking mechanism of SAR sensors, complex buildings structures make the registration of SAR images in urban areas becomes very hard. In order to solve the problem, an automatic and robust coregistration approach for multiview high resolution SAR images is proposed in the paper, which consists of three main modules. First, both the reference image and the sensed image are segmented into two parts, urban areas and nonurban areas. Urban areas caused by double or multiple scattering in a SAR image have a tendency to show higher local mean and local variance values compared with general homogeneous regions due to the complex structural information. Based on this criterion, building areas are extracted. After obtaining the target regions, L-shape structures are detected using the SAR phase congruency model and Hough transform. The double bounce scatterings formed by wall and ground are shown as strong L- or T-shapes, which are usually taken as the most reliable indicator for building detection. According to the assumption that buildings are rectangular and flat models, planimetric buildings are delineated using the L-shapes, then the reconstructed target areas are obtained. For the orignal areas and the reconstructed target areas, the SAR-SIFT matching algorithm is implemented. Finally, correct corresponding points are extracted by the fast sample consensus (FSC) and the transformation model is also derived. The experimental results on a pair of multiview TerraSAR images with 1-m resolution show that the proposed approach gives a robust and precise registration performance, compared with the orignal SAR-SIFT method.

Approximate Nearest Neighbour (ANN) search is an important research topic in multimedia and computer vision fields. In this paper, we propose a new deep supervised quantization method by Self-Organizing Map (SOM) to address this problem. Our method integrates the Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) and Self-Organizing Map into a unified deep architecture. The overall training objective includes supervised quantization loss and classification loss. With the supervised quantization loss, we minimize the differences on the maps between similar image pairs, and maximize the differences on the maps between dissimilar image pairs. By optimization, the deep architecture can simultaneously extract deep features and quantize the features into the suitable nodes in the Self-Organizing Map. The experiments on several public standard datasets prove the superiority of our approach over the existing ANN search methods. Besides, as a byproduct, our deep architecture can be directly applied to classification task and visualization with little modification, and promising performances are demonstrated on these tasks in the experiments. © 2017 ACM.

With the advantage in compact representation and efficient comparison, binary hashing has been extensively investigated for approximate nearest neighbor search. In this paper, we propose a novel and general hashing framework, which simultaneously considers a new linear pair-wise distance preserving objective and point-wise constraint. The direct distance preserving objective aims to keep the linear relationships between the Euclidean distance and the Hamming distance of data points. Based on different pointwise constraints, we propose two methods to instantiate this framework. The first one is a pseudo-supervised hashing method, which uses existing unsupervised hashing methods to generate binary codes as pseudo-supervised information. The second one is an unsupervised hashing method, in which quantization loss is considered. We validate our framework on two large-scale datasets. The experiments demonstrate that our pseudo-supervised method achieves consistent improvement for the state-of-the-art unsupervised hashing methods, while our unsupervised method outperforms the state-of-the-art methods. ©2016 ACM.

Track-before-detect (TBD) is effective on weak target detection in passive bistatic radar (PBR). The probability of false alarm (PFA) and the probability of detection (PD) in TBD based on dynamic programming algorithm (DPA) are determined by threshold. The extreme value theory and generalized Pareto distribution are usually used to obtain the relationship between PD, PFA and threshold. However, DPA must be performed several times to estimate parameters resulting in much processing time. An iterative method based on Gaussian distribution is another solution but is not suitable for the Chi-square distribution in PBR. Therefore fast threshold determination methods without Gaussian assumption are proposed in this paper. First, a data simulation method is presented. Then an approximation of PD is introduced to further reduce the complexity. Moreover, empirical formulas based on the hypothesis of Chi-square distribution are developed for real-time processing. Simulations verify that the methods are more suitable for real-time processing.

Nowadays, the digital earth not only relates to the technologies of surveying and mapping geography, but also includes the analysis and cross-application of various scientific data related to geographic information. It requires a computing environment and management for the corresponding thematic application models which supports the online analysis on the digital earth. So we proposed an integrated deployment method for digital earth thematic application models based on container cloud, which provides a flexible and scalable information integration and analysis architecture for digital earth. Firstly, a Docker image building module is designed to facilitate the user to quickly build the application model into a image. Then the Docker technology is used to implement the containerization of the application model to provide a stable running environment for the application model. Finally, the Kubernetes is used to dynamically manage the cluster resources to realize rapid expansion of computing resources. In addition, the HDFS is deployed, and the image files and various scientific data respectively store with Hbase and Apache file systems. It can ensure the read and write speed of the application model and the related data and log files. It also used zabbix framework to manage the monitoring index of the container cloud cluster to ensure the execution effect of the application model. Through the tests of typical application model, it is verified that the method can integrated deploy and apply the cross-domain, hetero-architecture, multi-version and multi-class application models on the digital earth. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We present an interactive example-based system for non-expert users to generate 3D indoor scenes intuitively. From a set of examples of an interior scene, we extract furniture layout constraints including pairwise and group relationships, ergonomic factors and user habits. Instead of inserting a single furniture object to a visual pleasing and functional position independently, we take advantages of manipulating a group of functionality-related furniture objects for smart editing. To deal with the arrangement problem which requires jointly optimizing a variety of functional and visual criteria, we introduce an efficient two-step pipeline consisting of rough arrangement and layout refinement. In the rough arrangement step, furniture objects are roughly placed according to pairwise relationships for accelerating the further optimization process. In the layout refinement step, we optimize the rough furniture layout to a semantical and functional layout considering spatial relationships, and ergonomic factors and avoiding collisions. User interactions are also allowed to move a specific object or a structural group while our system automatically refines the entire layout. The experimental results demonstrate that our system for scene generation measurably increases the visual quality and time efficiency compared with the completely manual scene editing or modeling. © 2017 ACM.

Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is widely used in ship target detection because of its ability to operate under various weather conditions. However, some target images are difficult to obtain and label, resulting in a small sample size, which limits the development of target detection. Aiming at the problem of ship target detection in small sample SAR images, domain knowledge is used to revise and enhance the basic model in this paper. Firstly, a lightweight convolutional neural network model more suitable for small-sample SAR image ship target classification is proposed, involving target pixel and aspect ratio as domain knowledge to correct the classification results. Then, for ship target detection in SAR images, the acquisition method of scale class domain knowledge is improved. Moreover, texture-related domain knowledge based on the gray level co-occurrence matrix is extracted and used as classification features for the model to revise the model. Finally, Marine Targets Classification Dataset (MTCD) and Marine Targets Detection Dataset (MTDD) are briefly introduced and adjusted to meet the requirements of this research through screening and modification. The test results on balanced MTDD and small-sample datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of domain knowledge in improving network performance. © 2022 IEEE.

REVERSE-RANGE-DOPPLER METHOD FOR AUTOMATED GEOCODING SAR IMAGES

Range-Doppler (RD) method and Reverse-Range-Doppler (RRD) method are combined together to achieve automatic geocoding of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) image quickly and accurately in the paper. The RD method is firstly used to locate the four corners of the image, then the other pixels of the image can be located by Reverse-Range-Doppler (RRD) method. Resampling is performed at last. The approach has an advantage over previous techniques in that it does not require ground control points and is independent of spacecraft attitude knowledge or control. It can compensate the shift due to the assumed Doppler frequency in SAR image preprocessing. RRD simplifies the process of RD, therefore speeds up the computation. The experimental results show that a SAR image can be automated geocoded in 30 s using the single CPU (3 GHz) with 1 G memory and an accuracy of 10 m is attainable with this method.

Guangdong Province,as one of China’s fast-developing regions,an important manufacturing base,and one of the national first round low-carbon pilots,still faces many challenges in controlling its total energy *** dominates Guangdong’s energy consumption and remains the major source of CO_(2).Previous research on factors influencing energy consumption has lacked a systematic analysis both from supply side(factors related to scale,structure,and technologies)and demand side(investment,consumption,and trade).This paper develops the logarithmic mean Divisia index(LMDI)method that focuses on the supply side and the structural decomposition analysis(SDA)method that focuses on the demand side to systematically identify the key factors driving coal consumption in *** are as follows:(1)Supply side analysis indicates that economic growth has always been the most important factor driving coal consumption growth,while energy intensity is the most important constraining *** structure and energy structure have different impacts on coal consumption control during different development phases.(2)Demand side analysis indicates that coal is consumed mainly for international exports,inter-provincial exports,fixed capital formation,and urban household.(3)Industries with the fastest coal consumption growth driven by final demand have experienced significant *** in industrial sectors were mainly driven by inter-provincial exports and urban household consumption in recent years.(4)Research on energy consumption in subnational regions under China’s new development pattern of“dual circulation”should not only focus on exports in the context of economic globalization but also pay more attention to inter-provincial exports on the background of strengthened interregional connections.
