With the support of Beidou terminal of short message service system, the space science satellite can transmit all-day data that are astronomical alert data such as gravitational waves and Gamma ray bursts and satellite telemetry parameters. Then Beidou message service system has become an important means for finding the space astronomical events quickly, planning the follow-up observation and monitoring the real-time health of satellite and payloads. Then the application fields of the Beidou system has expanded into space science observation and satellite emergency operation. The short message data receiving and processing in ground system has many features of near real-time and continuity which is different from the processing methods of satellite data transmitted by data channel and telemetry channel. And the multi-source satellite data of the telemetry parameters and the astronomical alert information from these three channels need to be integrated. So, the real-time processing system of satellite data based on Beidou short message transmission has great challenges. In this paper, we explored an organization method of Beidou short messages, and proposed a multi-source data fusion algorithm for the ground satellite data processing system. The data processing system with this method was designed and implemented. Applying to the ground system of the satellite named gravitational wave high-energy electromagnetic counterpart all-sky monitor, the performance analysis of improved system shows that the processing delay for important telemetry parameters and astronomical alert information is greatly shortened from average nine hours to several minutes. This paper presents a novel efficient method for gridless line spectrum estimation problem with single snapshot, namely the gradient descent least squares (GDLS) method. Conventional single snapshot (a.k.a. single measure vector or SMV) line spectrum estimation methods either rely on smoothing techniques that sacrifice the array aperture, or adopt the sparsity constraint and utilize compressed sensing (CS) method by defining prior grids and resulting in the off-grid problem. Recently emerged atomic norm minimization (ANM) methods achieved gridless SMV line spectrum estimation, but its computational complexity is extremely high;thus it is practically infeasible in real applications with large problem scales. Our proposed GDLS method reformulates the line spectrum estimations problem into a least squares (LS) estimation problem and solves the corresponding objective function via gradient descent algorithm in an iterative fashion with efficiency. The convergence guarantee, computational complexity, as well as performance analysis are discussed in this paper. Numerical simulations and real data experiments show that the proposed GDLS algorithm outperforms the state-of-the-art methods e.g., CS and ANM, in terms of estimation performances. It can completely avoid the off-grid problem, and its computational complexity is significantly lower than ANM. Our method has been tested in tomographic SAR (TomoSAR) imaging applications via simulated and real experiment data. Cloud detection is a crucial step in the preprocessing of satellite remote sensing images. Existing methods tend to have misjudgments when dealing with specific scenarios, such as challenges in distinguishing thin clouds from the background and addressing missing cloud boundaries. To solve this problem, we designed a novel Spatial–Frequency Domain Feature Enhancement Block (SFDE) embedded in a U-shaped network called SFDE-net. SFDE consists of three units: the Dual Frequency Feature Unit (DFF), the Spatial Domain Feature Unit (SDF), and the Cross-Domain Feature Fusion Unit (CDF). DFF globally learns the boundaries and overall structure of clouds in the frequency domain, SDF captures fine-grained information in the spatial domain, and CDF adaptively fuses features from both DFF and SDF. Our method’s effectiveness was evaluated on two public datasets, GF-1 WFV and LandSat8. Extensive experiments demonstrated that the proposed SFDE-net achieved accurate detection accuracy and outperformed several state-of-the-art methods.

For chroma intra prediction, previous methods exemplified by the Linear Model method (LM) usually assume a linear correlation between the luma and chroma components in a coding block. This assumption is inaccurate for complex image content or large blocks, and restricts the prediction accuracy. In this paper, we propose a chroma intra prediction method by exploiting both spatial and cross-channel correlations using a hybrid neural network. Specifically, we utilize a convolutional neural network to extract features from the reconstructed luma samples of the current block, as well as utilize a fully connected network to extract features from the neighboring reconstructed luma and chroma samples. The extracted twofold features are then fused to predict the chroma samples-Cb and Cr simultaneously. The proposed chroma intra prediction method is integrated into HEVC. Preliminary results show that, compared with HEVC plus LM, the proposed method achieves on average 0.2%, 3.1% and 2.0% BD-rate reduction on Y, Cb and Cr components, respectively, under All-Intra configuration.

Recurrent Generic Contour-based Instance Segmentation with Progressive Learning

Contour-based instance segmentation has been actively studied, thanks to its flexibility and elegance in processing visual objects within complex backgrounds. In this work, we propose a novel deep network architecture, i.e., PolySnake, for generic contour-based instance segmentation. Motivated by the classic Snake algorithm, the proposed PolySnake achieves superior and robust segmentation performance with an iterative and progressive contour refinement strategy. Technically, PolySnake introduces a recurrent update operator to estimate the object contour iteratively. It maintains a single estimate of the contour that is progressively deformed toward the object boundary. At each iteration, PolySnake builds a semantic-rich representation for the current contour and feeds it to the recurrent operator for further contour adjustment. Through the iterative refinements, the contour progressively converges to a stable status that tightly encloses the object instance. Beyond the scope of general instance segmentation, extensive experiments are conducted to validate the effectiveness and generalizability of our PolySnake in two additional specific task scenarios, including scene text detection and lane detection. The results demonstrate that the proposed PolySnake outperforms the existing advanced methods on several multiple prevalent benchmarks across the three tasks. Various blur distortions in video will cause negative impact on both human viewing and video-based applications, which makes motion-robust deblurring methods urgently needed. Most existing works have strong dataset dependency and limited generalization ability in handling challenging scenarios, like blur in low contrast or severe motion areas, and non-uniform blur. Therefore, we propose a PRiOr-enlightened and MOTION-robust video deblurring model (PROMOTION) suitable for challenging blurs. On the one hand, we use 3D group convolution to efficiently encode heterogeneous prior information, explicitly enhancing the scenes’ perception while mitigating the output’s artifacts. On the other hand, we design the priors representing blur distribution, to better handle non-uniform blur in spatio-temporal domain. Besides the classical camera shake caused global blurry, we also prove the generalization for the downstream task suffering from local blur. Extensive experiments demonstrate we can achieve the state-of-the-art performance on well-known REDS and GoPro datasets, and bring machine task gain. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. In recent years, tremendous efforts have been made on document image rectification, but existing advanced algorithms are limited to processing restricted document images, i.e., the input images must incorporate a complete document. Once the captured image merely involves a local text region, its rectification quality is degraded and unsatisfactory. Our previously proposed DocTr, a transformer-assisted network for document image rectification, also suffers from this limitation. In this work, we present DocTr++, a novel unified framework for document image rectification, without any restrictions on the input distorted images. Our major technical improvements can be concluded in three aspects. Firstly, we upgrade the original architecture by adopting a hierarchical encoder-decoder structure for multi-scale representation extraction and parsing. Secondly, we reformulate the pixel-wise mapping relationship between the unrestricted distorted document images and the distortion-free counterparts. The obtained data is used to train our DocTr++ for unrestricted document image rectification. Thirdly, we contribute a real-world test set and metrics applicable for evaluating the rectification quality. To our best knowledge, this is the first learning-based method for the rectification of unrestricted document images. Extensive experiments are conducted, and the results demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of our method. We hope our DocTr++ will serve as a strong baseline for generic document image rectification, prompting the further advancement and application of learning-based algorithms. As an emerging data modal with precise distance sensing, LiDAR point clouds have been placed great expectations on 3D scene understanding. However, point clouds are always sparsely distributed in the 3D space, and with unstructured storage, which makes it difficult to represent them for effective 3D object detection. To this end, in this work, we regard point clouds as hollow-3D data and propose a new architecture, namely Hallucinated Hollow-3D R-CNN (H23D R-CNN), to address the problem of 3D object detection. In our approach, we first extract the multi-view features by sequentially projecting the point clouds into the perspective view and the bird-eye view. Then, we hallucinate the 3D representation by a novel bilaterally guided multi-view fusion block. Finally, the 3D objects are detected via a box refinement module with a novel Hierarchical Voxel RoI Pooling operation. The proposed H23D R-CNN provides a new angle to take full advantage of complementary information in the perspective view and the bird-eye view with an efficient framework. We evaluate our approach on the public KITTI Dataset and Waymo Open Dataset. Extensive experiments demonstrate the superiority of our method over the state-of-the-art algorithms with respect to both effectiveness and efficiency. Road extraction from high-resolution remote sensing images has been applied in many domains, but it is still full of challenges. We focus on the problem of slender roads, proposing a new multiple feature pyramid network (MFPN), which is composed of an effective feature pyramid and the tailored pyramid pooling module based on PSPNet. These two designs can address the sparsity of roads in remote sensing images via using multi-level semantic features. Experiments on remote sensing images from Quick Bird show that our MFPN model achieves competitive performance, especially for slender roads.
