Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) tomography (TomoSAR) is a novel technique that enables three-dimensional (3-D) imaging and plays an important role in urban remote sensing by utilizing multiple observations of the same target scene from various baselines. Canonical TomoSAR observations are from a single aspect, which has been well studies already. However, modern SAR sensors such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) allow us to achieve multi-aspect TomoSAR data of the same target scene. This paper proposes a novel framework named “Multi-aspect TomoSAR,” which takes advantage of rich TomoSAR data from multiple observation aspects. We derive the multi-aspect TomoSAR signal model using distributed compressed sensing (DCS) and adopt a simultaneous sparse approximation algorithm named SOMP to solve the joint sparsity model. Numerical results on synthetic simulated data show that the multi-aspect estimation can provide more accurate estimation, yield a promising perspective. Experimental results on real airborne data will be reported in the journal version of this work later.

Integrating Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) plays a crucial role in urban area surveillance and situational awareness, benefiting from the low cost, small size, and high flexibility of SAR carried by drones. However, the dense arrangement of high-rise buildings in urban environments creates Urban Canyons and numerous visual blind spots due to occlusion, which weakens the perception capability of SAR. Additionally, SAR imaging results of moving vehicles on the roads between buildings result in severe defocusing due to their non-cooperative motion. In this paper, we establish a vehicle signal model for SAR imaging with UAVs that considers the vehicle body’s translation and the wheels’ rotation. The range history modulation and imaging characteristics of returns caused by translation and micro-motion are derived. Simulation results validate the correctness of the theoretical analysis, and the proposed theory helps explain SAR imaging results, providing support for high-precision focusing and three-dimensional imaging of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) SAR images.

Strap-down inertial navigation systems are widely applicable in both military and civil industries. The outputs of gyroscope and accelerometer are polluted by noises. Different form the conventional technologies, the weighting filter presented in this work is superior to both the complementary filter and Kalman filter. Furthermore, to eliminate the negative effects brought by the variation of noise statistical characteristics, a fuzzy-logic based regulator is introduced to adjust the weight coefficient adaptively. Finally, experiments are conducted to validate the efficiency of the filter.

Housing vacancy can reflect the destocking degree of the real estate *** on the data of 57 opened residential quarters(46,622 units)from 2015 to 2018,this paper constructs a calculation formula of the sales vacancy rate and then analyzes the spatial pattern in Guangzhou’s urban *** results show that there is obvious differentiation in the spatial pattern of housing sales vacancy in Guangzhou’s urban district,showing a higher spatial pattern in the old area and urban district and a lower spatial pattern in the core *** with high vacancy rates are mainly located in the east of the old area,the south and east of the urban district and near Baiyun Mountain in the north.

Predictive auto-encoding network for blind stereoscopic image quality assessment

Stereoscopic image quality assessment (SIQA) has encountered non-trivial challenges due to the fast proliferation of 3D contents. In the past years, deep learning oriented SIQA methods have emerged and achieved spectacular performance compared to conventional algorithms which are only relied on extracting hand-crafted features. However, most existing deep SIQA evaluators are not specifically built for stereoscopic content and consider little prior domain knowledge of the 3D human visual system (HVS) in network design. In this paper, to better simulate the binocular rivalry phenomenon, we propose a Predictive Auto-encoDing Network (PAD-Net) for blind/No-Reference stereoscopic image quality assessment (NR-SIQA). The proposed encoder-decoder architecture is inspired by the predictive coding theory that the cognition system tries to match bottom-up visual signal with top-down predictions. Besides, we design the Siamese framework to mimic the binocular rivalry in the 3D HVS based on the likelihood and prior maps generated from the predictive coding process. Extensive experimental results on three publicly available stereoscopic image quality databases demonstrate that the devised approach outperforms state-of-the-art algorithms for predicting the perceptual quality of both symmetrically and asymmetrically distorted stereoscopic images with various distortion types. Peer is Your Pillar: A Data-unbalanced Conditional GANs for Few-shot Image Generation

Few-shot image generation aims to train generative models using a small number of training images. When there are few images available for training (e.g. 10 images), Learning From Scratch (LFS) methods often generate images that closely resemble the training data while Transfer Learning (TL) methods try to improve performance by leveraging prior knowledge from GANs pre-trained on large-scale datasets. However, current TL methods may not allow for sufficient control over the degree of knowledge preservation from the source model, making them unsuitable for setups where the source and target domains are not closely related. To address this, we propose a novel pipeline called Peer is your Pillar (PIP), which combines a target few-shot dataset with a peer dataset to create a data-unbalanced conditional generation. Our approach includes a class embedding method that separates the class space from the latent space, and we use a direction loss based on pre-trained CLIP to improve image diversity. Experiments on various few-shot datasets demonstrate the advancement of the proposed PIP, especially reduces the training requirements of few-shot image generation. © 2023, CC BY.

—Existing generalization theories analyze the generalization performance mainly based on the model complexity and training process. The ignorance of the task properties, which results from the widely used IID assumption, makes these theories fail to interpret many generalization phenomena or guide practical learning tasks. In this paper, we propose a new Independent and Task-Identically Distributed (ITID) assumption, to consider the task properties into the data generating process. The derived generalization bound based on the ITID assumption identifies the significance of hypothesis invariance in guaranteeing generalization performance. Based on the new bound, we introduce a practical invariance enhancement algorithm from the perspective of modifying data distributions. Finally, we verify the algorithm and theorems in the context of image classification task on both toy and real-world datasets. The experimental results demonstrate the reasonableness of the ITID assumption and the effectiveness of new generalization theory in improving practical generalization performance. Multi-graph matching, which aims to find the correspondences of multiple graphs, is an extension of conventional two-graph matching. There are mainly two categories of multi-graph matching methods, i.e., the pairwise-based methods and the tensor-based methods. Both of them try to find the correspondences between graphs by maximizing the values of the similarities between the corresponding features, e.g., nodes, edges, and so on. The difference is that for a set of features from different graphs to be matched, the pairwise-based methods consider the similarities of every two features, while the tensor-based methods directly consider the whole similarity among them. Therefore, the measurement of similarities in the tensor-based methods is usually much more flexible than that in the pairwise-based methods. However, the time and space complexities of the tensor-based methods grow geometrically as the number of graphs to be matched increases. In this paper, through a comprehensive investigation, we propose a k-wise multi-graph matching method which includes the aforementioned two kinds of methods as special cases. Generally, by choosing different value of k, it could be found that the proposed algorithm can strike a balance between flexible similarity measurement and low computational complexity. In addition, a factorization of k-wise global affinity matrix is proposed to save the computational cost of our method. Experiments with synthetic and real data demonstrate the superiority of our method. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Compressed sensing technique is widely used in the field of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) radar imaging to suppress sidelobes and noise, bringing better imaging performance. However, many constraints are introduced to the sparse reconstruction model, current sparse microwave imaging model is based on several assumptions, such as far field assumption, which might not hold in some circumstances. In this paper, a novel two-dimensional sparse reconstruction method based on approximated observation is proposed. First, we obtain the measurement matrix by the inverse back-projection operator, and construct a two-dimensional sparse reconstruction model. Then, we adopt the minimax concave constraint as the regularization term and use the iterative soft threshold algorithm (ISTA) for sparse reconstruction. The method retains the advantages of the BP algorithm and the sparse reconstruction algorithm at the same time, and the distance between the target and the antenna array is not constrained by image reconstruction performance of the sparse reconstruction algorithm. Simulations and experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
