Ecosystem services are essential for ensuring our survival and development and comimg true regional sustainability. Based on the quantitative indicator assessment method of net primary productivity (NPP) of vegetation and GIS spatial analysis method, the spatial distribution characteristics and importance of the functions of water soil retention, soil and water conservation, wind and sand control, and biodiversity maintenance in the Tibetan Plateau were evaluated during 2000-2015. The results show that: (1) The indices of water conservation, soil conservation, wind protection and sand fixation, and biodiversity maintenance functions are high in the southeast and low in the northwest, showing a reducing trend from the southeast to the northwest. (2) From the grading characteristics of the significance of the ecological service features mentioned above, the four types of ecological system services have the largest area, accounting for 27.06%, 19.73%, 61.44% and 41.7% of the gross area of the plateau, respectively;the area of ecological services with weaker functions is the smallest, accounting for 16.47%, 16.96%, 0.97% and 4.06% of the gross area of the plateau, severally. (3) The ecological function of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau from 2000 to 2015 shows two obvious characteristics, namely, the southern part of the plateau, the Sanjiangyuan region, the southern end of Qinghai Lake and Qilian Mountain area have a decreasing trend of comprehensive ecological service function, the northern Tibetan Plateau, the southern valley of Tibet, the Hengduanshan area have an increasing trend of comprehensive ecological service function, and the rest of the area stays unchanged. © 2024 SPIE.

Spatial variation of altitudinal belts as dividing index between warm temperate and subtropical zones in the Qinling-Daba Mountains

To determine the dividing index between warm temperate and subtropical zones based on the spectra of altitudinal belts,this paper collected 33 spectra of altitudinal belts in the Qinling-Daba Mountains from published literatures and then analyzed the structures and the spatial patterns from south to north,from west to east and based on exposure *** results show that:1)From south to north,the basal belt gradually changes from subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest to warm temperate deciduous broadleaf forest;the spectra of altitudinal belts change from complex to simple;the dominant belt changes from montane broadleaf-conifer mixed forest and evergreen-deciduous broadleaf mixed forest to deciduous broadleaf forest.2)From west to east,the structures of the altitudinal belt spectra show complexity in the east and west but simplicity in the middle section;the upper limits of both the evergreen-deciduous broadleaf mixed forest belt and montane deciduous broadleaf forest belt present a quadratic curve distribution pattern in the longitudinal ***,the upper limit of the montane broadleaf-conifer mixed forest belt exhibits a nearly linear decrease in the west-east direction.3)Both the north and south slopes in the Qinling Mountains have the similar basal belt,whereas it varies greatly between the north and south slopes in the Daba ***,dominant belts are very similar in the Qinling Mountains and the north slope of the Daba Mountains,but the south slope of the Daba Mountains has its own unique dominant belt:evergreen-deciduous broadleaf mixed *** implies that the Daba Mountains are more appropriate than the Qinling Mountains to act as the boundary between subtropical and warm-temperate zones in central China.

Tropical and subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forests(EBFs)and needle-leaved forests(ENFs)in China exhibit complex leaf shedding strategies in responses to soil water availability,vapor pressure deficits(VPDs)and sunlight ***,the seasonal variations and triggers of litterfall differ significantly in tropical/subtropical forests,and there are still many ***,we aim to explore the distinct climatic factors of seasonal litterfall in a climate–phenology correlation *** collected seasonal litterfall data from 85 sites across tropical/subtropical China and used linear correlation coefficients between sunlight and rainfall to partition synchronous/asynchronous *** phase analysis and structural equation model analysis were conducted to model the climatic triggers of tropical *** indicated two types of tropical litterfall phenology under two types of *** synchronous climates,where seasonal sunlight and rainfall are positively correlated,the litterfall peak of the unimodal phenology and the first litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology both happen at the end of dry *** second litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology occurs at the end of rainy season due to water *** asynchronous climates,where seasonal sunlight and rainfall are negatively correlated,VPD shows consistent seasonal variations with incoming *** leaf senescence is accelerated at the end of dry season by higher VPD;while soil water deficit is in anti-phase with sunlight and mainly controls the second litterfall peak of the bimodal phenology in *** findings provide an important reference for modeling tropical phenology in Earth system models.

In this paper, a model-based approach for geometry extraction of the rectangular building is proposed based on the scattering model. According to the principle of SAR and the scattering mechanisms, the scattering model is deduced according to the ray perspective, including single, double and triple scattering. The double-bouncing scattering region is chosen as a fixed reference point in the matching process. This approach deals with the geometry extraction by using the layover, shadow and multi-path scattering information together. Experiments are implemented on ESR SAR data, which tests the validity of the approach proposed.

the key of distributed computing is to fully utilize computing resources. However, the efficiency of distributed computing can always be affected by volatility of available nodes and uncertainty of network environment. In order to enhance resource allocation efficiency in distributed computing, this paper presents an inframarginal analysis based resource allocation method, which distributes computing task to the node with more comparative advantage carrying on the task. Simulation results proved that it is effective on resource allocation in the distributed computing environment. © 2010 IEEE.

Multi-object tracking is important in many computer vision applications. The major difficulties are due to inter-object or scene occlusion and data association. In this paper, we present a method to automatically detect and track multiple objects in complicated scenario from a single camera that is stationary. The proposed detecting method can prevent the moving objects updated to the background and can restrain ghosts. The moving objects are modeled fusing the hue and edge features. The system achieves tracking the object using the proposed associated strategy based on multilevel track queues. Experiments show the effectiveness of our approach under different conditions with complete occlusions. © 2011 IEEE.

A watermarking scheme designed for remote sensing images needs to meet the same demand of both invisibility as for ordinary digital images. Due to specific perceptual characteristics of Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) images, the watermarking algorithms with consideration of Human Vision system(HVS) modeling from optical images give poor performance when applied on SAR images. This paper examines a variety of factors affecting the noise sensitivity, and further proposes a refined pixel-wise masking approach for watermarking on SAR images. The proposed approach is applied on logarithmic transformed SAR images, and has increased the acceptable watermark embedding strength by about 6 dB to 10 dB while achieving the same levels of watermarked image visual quality. Experimental results show that this approach enhanced the perceptual invisibility of watermarking based on wavelet decomposition.

With the global economy increasingly dependent on innovation,urban discourse has shifted to consider what kinds of spatial designs may best nurture *** examined the relationship between the built environment and the spatial heterogeneity of regional innovation productivity(RIP)using the example of China's Pearl River Delta(PRD).Based on a spatial database of 522546 patent data from 2017,this study proposed an innovation-based built environment framework with the following five aspects:healthy en-vironment,daily interaction,mixed land use,commuting convenience,and technology *** negative binomial regression and Geodetector to examine the impact of the built environment on RIP,the results show that the spatial distribution of innovation productivity in the PRD region is extremely *** negative binomial regression results show that the built environment has a significant impact on the spatial differentiation of RIP,and,specifically,that healthy environment,mixed land use,commuting convenience,and technology atmosphere all demonstrate significant positive ***,the Geodetector results show that the built environment factor impacts the spatial heterogeneity of RIP to varying degrees,with technology atmosphere demonstrating the greatest impact *** conclude that as regional development discourse shifts focus to the knowledge and innovation economy,the innovation-oriented design and updating of built environments will become extremely important to policymakers.

Doppler walk is introduced by high speed motion of targets in passive radar, which decreases the signal-to-noise ratio. In this paper, a Doppler walk rectification method based on keystone-Wigner-Ville transform (KWT) is proposed, and the interference, weights and noise impact are analyzed. No prior information and parameters searching are unnecessary.

In this work,polarization mode dispersion(PMD)in polarization-maintaining(PM)fibers,to the best of our knowledge,is first proposed and experimentally proved to be responsible for severe spectral modulations in ultrafast PM fiber amplifiers,the introduction of which can give reasonable explanation for the dense spectral ripples imposed on the spectra of amplified lasers from the commonly used all-PM-fiber or hybrid“PM-fiber+bulk crystal”amplifiers,including both high-power amplifiers with remarkable nonlinear effects(self-phase modulation,SPM)and even low-power amplifiers with negligible nonlinear effects.
