Identifying ecologically vulnerable areas is critical for constructing ecological barriers and precisely controlling ecological *** the rapid development of big data and Artificial Intelligence(AI)technologies,many intelligent methods have been developed to support the identification of vulnerable ecological *** paper reviews the methodological advancements in identifying ecologically vulnerable areas,including geographic zoning,expert integration,mathematical statistics,geographic information visualization,artificial neural networks,and unsupervised deep learning clustering ***,we assessed several classic software tools used in ecology and natural resource *** on the review,several urgent research challenges for ecological function zoning research are proposed,such as the application of ecological vulnerability assessment intelligent algorithms,big data collaborative analysis,and the development of automated identification *** the requirements in the Mongolian Plateau,this study proposes future development prospects of methods for identifying ecologically vulnerable area zoning,combined with the new AI research *** include enhancing the comprehensive analysis of multimodal data,increasing ecological barrier big data collaborative processing,advancing the interpretability of ecological function partitioning algorithms,developing automatic zoning software tools,and pushing the collaborative analysis of geographic big data and citizen science data.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is rapidly permeating all aspects of human life, involving a network of devices that share sensitive data. A notable application is the e-healthcare systems, which employ connected sensors, medical servers, and wearable devices. However, the public nature of communication in e-healthcare systems poses challenges such as security, privacy, and authentication of participating entities. Recently, many authentication protocols have been introduced to address these challenges. However, most of these protocols remain vulnerable to various security attacks, including device or medical server impersonation, denial of service, physical or cloning, and de-synchronization attacks. Therefore, we introduce an authenticated key-management protocol utilizing hash functions and Cipher-Block Chaining-Advanced Encryption Standard encryption (CBC-AES) encryption. The proposed protocol also employs the Physical Unclonable Function (PUF), which makes it more robust and efficient in resisting physical or cloning attacks. Additionally, the proposed scheme resists various security threats, including impersonation, session key leakage, ephemeral secret leakage, and de-synchronization attacks. We analyze the scheme’s security and reliability through formal and informal analysis. The informal analysis demonstrates that the scheme encompasses crucial security features, while the formal analysis substantiates. Moreover, performance analysis of the proposed protocol with various competing results indicates that our protocol achieves an average reduction in communication and computation overheads by 36.03.% and 41.79%, respectively. © 2014 IEEE.

Downscaling Photosynthetically Active Radiation Based on Two-step Conversions with Consideration of Vegetation Forms

High spatial resolution photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) data are essential for carbon cycle studies. While the downscaling methods have been proven to be a reliable method to obtain fine resolution data. However, the existing single-step downscaling suffers from the drawbacks of large spatial resolution span and lack of near-surface parameter texture details. Additionally, vegetation forms cannot be ignored in the PAR downscaling process, and the optimization of regression kernels remain an essential step to solve the data redundancy issue. Therefore, this study proposes a two-step downscaling model (PTDM) to estimate high spatial resolution PAR by considering vegetation forms with highly heterogeneous. The two-step downscaling model establishes regression windows based on vegetation forms to adapt to the vegetation heterogeneity, and subsequently optimized the regression kernels by using correlation matrix and importance ranking to construct a high-spatial resolution PAR. Field verification results demonstrate that the correlation coefficient (R) exceeded 0.90, the Bias was within 8 W/m², the root mean square error (RMSE) was below 10 W/m², and the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) was below 14%. Compared with the existing DSR PAR product, the proposed model achieves an R value greater than 0.65, a bias of less than −4 W/m², an RMSE of under 7 W/m², and a MAPE below 5%. Furthermore, the 30 m resolution PAR product generated by the model can capture finer spatial details, both for the overall study area and local plots. This study highlights the potential of the PTDM approach in producing high-precision PAR estimates, offering valuable insights for carbon cycle studies and ecosystem modeling. © 1980-2012 IEEE.

This paper devotes to combine the chirp basis function transformation and symplectic coordinates transformation to yield a novel Wigner distribution (WD) associated with the linear canonical transform (LCT), named as the symplectic WD in the LCT domain (SWDL). It incorporates the merits of the symplectic WD (SWD) and the WD in the LCT domain (WDL), achieving stronger capability in the linear frequency-modulated (LFM) signal frequency rate feature extraction while maintaining the same level of computational complexity. Some essential properties of the SWDL are derived, including marginal distributions, energy conservations, unique reconstruction, Moyal formula, complex conjugate symmetry, time reversal symmetry, scaling property, time translation property, frequency modulation property, and time translation and frequency modulation property. Heisenberg’s uncertainty principles of the SWDL are formulated, giving rise to three kinds of lower bounds attainable respectively by Gaussian enveloped complex exponential signal, Gaussian signal and Gaussian enveloped chirp signal. The optimal symplectic matrices corresponding to the highest time-frequency resolution are generated by solving the lower bound optimization (minimization) problem. The time-frequency resolution of the SWDL is compared with those of the SWD and WDL to demonstrate its superiority in LFM signals time-frequency energy concentration. A synthesis example is also carried out to verify the feasibility and reliability of the theoretical analysis. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Single-Frequency Continuous-Wave Solid-State 363.8-Nm Ultraviolet Source Generation by Frequency Tripling of a 1091-Nm Fiber Laser

A single-frequency continuous-wave (CW) ultraviolet (UV) solid-state source at 363.8 nm has been demonstrated through the frequency tripling of a high-power, single-frequency, linearly-polarized (LP) 1091-nm laser. This 1091-nm laser, which features a homemade single-frequency distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) seed and can deliver 78-W average power with an optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) exceeding 63 dB and a polarization extinction ratio (PER) of ~15.8 dB. Employing two cascaded periodically poled Mg-doped lithium niobate (PPMgLN) crystals, whose lengths are 30 mm and 20 mm, a single-frequency 545.5-nm source with an average power of 1.85 W and a single-frequency 363.8-nm source with an average power of higher than 20 mW were obtained, when the input power of the 1091-nm laser was just 11.78 W. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first single-frequency solid-state UV source at 363.8 nm, which is usually provided by argon-ion gas laser, thus offering a potential alternative for semiconductor chip inspection applications. © 2025, The Authors. Phytoplankton play a crucial role in the primary productivity of ocean ecosystems, rendering changes in their populations particularly consequential. The effects of extreme sea surface temperature (SST) on phytoplankton are noteworthy. However, the direct characterization of total biomass by chlorophyll for analysis is inaccurate for phytoplankton functional taxa (PFTs) with different sensitivity to SST. Through the method of Diagnostic pigment analysis (DPA), these organisms can be classified into six primary functional taxa based on their distinctive pigments, which play a vital role in elucidating their ecological functions and dynamics. This study employed optical remote sensing to reconstruct daily concentrations and occupancy of six PFTs in the Eastern China Marginal Sea (ECMS) over the past 20 years. Causal analyses were conducted to identify regions with varying sensitivity to SST changes and further explore the corresponding impacts on phytoplankton concentrations. Results revealed that high-causality areas in the Bohai Sea (BS) and Yellow Sea (YS) were primarily located in nearshore waters. In contrast, high-causality regions in the East China Sea (ECS) were farther offshore, while nearshore areas exhibited lower causality. The high-causality subregions experienced significant fluctuations in phytoplankton concentrations, particularly during marine heatwave (MHW) events, with a prevailing trend of decline in taxon concentrations driven by elevated SST. In comparison, low-causality subregions displayed weaker synchronization with SST changes, as other factors influenced taxa concentrations more prominently. Notably, while phytoplankton concentrations fluctuated significantly during extreme MHW events, they eventually reverted to baseline levels. However, with the increasing frequency and intensity of MHWs due to global warming, the capacity for phytoplankton to recover under such repeated stress remains uncertain. Evapotranspiration(ET)is of great significance for the ecological environment and water resource utilization in arid and semi-arid *** Mongolian Plateau,owing to drought,low rainfall,and extremely uneven distribution of water resources,has a typical temperate continental climate.A refined understanding of the spatiotemporal distribution of ET in this region will help in establishing regulatory strategies for climate change responses,regional livestock regulation,and grassland degradation *** this study,meteorological station data,precipitation data,and the Penman-Monteith model were used to study the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of actual ET over the Mongolian Plateau from 2011 to *** found that:(1)The spatial distribution of ET in the Mongolian Plateau showed a high trend in the north and east and a low trend in the middle and *** was a significant difference in the regional annual ET,with the highest ET reaching over 500 mm and the lowest being only approximately 70 mm.(2)The annual ET values in 2013,2018,and 2019 were relatively large,varying between 80 and 500 mm,and the overall ET of the Mongolian Plateau first decreased,then increased,and then decreased.(3)The temporal distribution exhibits a unimodal trend of increasing and then decreasing,with July being the turning ***-September was a period of high ET,with the highest ET exceeding 100 *** vegetation coverage was high,precipitation was abundant,and the vegetation ET effect was *** was a period of low ET,with a maximum ET of approximately 10 mm in January and December;the ET for the month with the lowest value was approximately *** quantitative inversion method proposed in this study can provide method and data support for north and central Asia,and other large arid and semi-arid areas.

A Robust and Efficient Boundary Point Detection Method by Measuring Local Direction Dispersion

Boundary point detection aims to outline the external contour structure of clusters and enhance the inter-cluster discrimination, thus bolstering the performance of the downstream classification and clustering tasks. However, existing boundary point detectors are sensitive to density heterogeneity or cannot identify boundary points in concave structures and high-dimensional manifolds. In this work, we propose a robust and efficient boundary point detection method based on Local Direction Dispersion (LoDD). The core of boundary point detection lies in measuring the difference between boundary points and internal points. It is a common observation that an internal point is surrounded by its neighbors in all directions, while the neighbors of a boundary point tend to be distributed only in a certain directional range. By considering this observation, we adopt density-independent K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) method to determine neighboring points and design a centrality metric LoDD using the eigenvalues of the covariance matrix to depict the distribution uniformity of KNN. We also develop a grid-structure assumption of data distribution to determine the parameters adaptively. The effectiveness of LoDD is demonstrated on synthetic datasets, real-world benchmarks, and application of training set split for deep learning model and hole detection on point cloud data. A New Approach to Airborne High Resolution SAR Motion Compensation for Large Trajectory Deviations

The Two-step algorithm (TSA) is widely used for trajectory deviation compensation of airborne Synthetic aperture radar (SAR), by which most of the mo- tion errors are compensated before Range curve migration compensation (RCMC) and the residual after the RCMC. We found that the RCMC in the presence of the residual motion errors results in additional range shift errors hard to be compensated for. Based on theoretical investiga- tions, this shortage of TSA is reported and a new compen- sation scheme which greatly alleviates the RCMC induced errors is proposed. Besides, range resampling considering the residual motion errors is very convinent, which, how- ever, is boresome in TSA. The new method is effective to compensate the high resolution SAR systems for large tra- jectory deviations, which is hard to be achieved by TSA because of the uncompensated errors. Results on the sim- ulated data are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the new method.
