There is a problem in that the ship main engine emission test is inconsistent with the actual operating conditions. This paper aims to propose a method for constructing a representative navigation cycle for main engines, which consists of four parts: data collection and pre-processing, kinematic segmentation, segment regularization, and candidate cycle generation and validation. Based on this method, representative ship main engine operational conditions can be obtained, and the effectiveness of this method has been verified on an inland ship. The results show that the constructed cycle can more representatively reflect the actual operational conditions of the ship than the test cycle E3, which is the standard test cycle for main propulsion engines. It covers more operational conditions, including low, medium, and high load conditions. Besides, the constructed cycle reduces the CO2 emission factor difference between real-world emissions and the test cycle E3 from 38.6% to 4.1%. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the ultrasonic transmission process and damage detection in rod structure are experimentally studied. In the finite element simulation, according to the nonlinear interaction between the different Lamb wave excitation signals and the fixed size crack on the rod, the signal mechanism is analyzed and how to locate the damage signal is explained. The fatigue crack evolution of rod assembly is further tested by experimental method. It is consistent with the simulation results. It is found that the ultrasonic guided wave signal with excitation is very sensitive to cracks. Finite element analysis and excitation signals can be used as potential methods for quantitative evaluation of cracks in metal parts. The results of this study provide a basis for modeling and simulation using finite element in the field of nondestructive evaluation and structural health monitoring © 2022 SPIE.

An intramedullary lengthening nail avoids complications frequently found in the external fixator and shows remarkable clinical results. The magnetic drive is the mainstream actuation method for intramedullary lengthening nails which shows good results, but clinicians claim insufficient distraction torque of the intramedullary lengthening nail will occur occasionally. In this paper, we investigate the optimal parameters for magnetic drive intramedullary lengthening nail based on parametric modeling to ensure the rotor magnet is rotated synchronously and the distraction torque is sufficient for bone lengthening. The driver-rotor magnet model is established, and parametric optimization of the angular position of the driver magnet local coordinate system, the angular velocity of the driver magnet, the number of driver magnets, and the number of pole pairs of the driver magnet to determine optimal values. Optimal parameters are selected and verified by experiments. The results show that a pair of single-pole pairs of the driver magnet rotating with an angular speed of 50 rpm can meet the minimal distraction torque of 1.5 N mm, which is around 5.6 N mm. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

In recent years,flexible soft robots have received increasing attention compared to rigid robots. The modeling of flexible actuators has always been difficult to solve. The control problem of hydraulic driven flexible actuators in this paper under the premise of imprecise modeling. In this paper,an innovative output feedback controller based on Unknown System Dynamics Estimator(USDE) is proposed to improve the position tracking accuracy of hydraulic driven flexible actuators with imprecise model. Firstly,the strict feedback high order electro-hydraulic servo system is transformed into a new standard form that incorporates servo valve dynamics. Therefore,controllers designed using traditional backstepping methods are rendered obsolete. Subsequently,a High-Gain Observer(HGO) is introduced for state reconstruction of the new system. To counteract the impact of lumped unknown system dynamics which include imprecise modeling dynamics of hydraulic driven flexible actuator,a USDE with straightforward parameter tuning and robust performance is introduced. Finally,both scalar containing error terms and USDE are integrated into the design of the output feedback controller. Experimental validation is conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

With the increase of carbon emissions and global warming, it is essential to implement low-carbon economic optimization strategies for smart distribution networks. This paper proposes a seasonal carbon trading method (SCTM) and a refined demand response model for low-carbon optimization in smart distribution networks. Firstly, this study introduces a SCTM to reduce carbon emissions from the generation side. Secondly, a demand response model that incorporates industrial processes is established to enhance the demand response potential on the consumption side. Finally, the numerical examples show that the method proposed in this paper can successfully reduce carbon emissions on the source-load sides of the system and improve economic benefits in the improved IEEE 33-bus system.

Learning-based multi-task models have been widely used in various scene understanding tasks,and complement each other,i.e.,they allow us to consider prior semantic information to better infer *** boost the unsupervised monocular depth estimation using semantic segmentation as an auxiliary *** address the lack of cross-domain datasets and catastrophic forgetting problems encountered in multi-task training,we utilize existing methodology to obtain redundant segmentation maps to build our cross-domain dataset,which not only provides a new way to conduct multi-task training,but also helps us to evaluate results compared with those of other *** addition,in order to comprehensively use the extracted features of the two tasks in the early perception stage,we use a strategy of sharing weights in the network to fuse cross-domain features,and introduce a novel multi-task loss function to further smooth the depth *** experiments on KITTI and Cityscapes datasets show that our method has achieved state-of-the-art performance in the depth estimation task,as well improved semantic segmentation.

The Pomacea canaliculata, also known as apple snail, is an invasive species in China, posing a serious threat to agricultural production and public health. To prevent its rampant infestation, we developed a highly efficient snail-killing lead compound, 1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(pyridin-3-yl)urea (PBQ). However, the killing mechanism of PBQ remains unclear. To elucidate this, two novel compounds, B-PBQ and J-PBQ, were developed through structural modification of PBQ and were used, through both protein pull-down assay and confocal laser scanning microscopy imaging, to identify and confirm that phosphofructokinase(PFK) in the apple snail is the primary target protein of PBQ. Further studies revealed that PBQ successfully inhibits the activity,content, and expression of PFK in apple snail, disrupting the glycolysis pathway and leading to abnormal energy *** disruptions impair the snail’s tolerance to low oxygen, resulting in its efficient eradication. These findings offer a promising direction for developing next-generation PFK-targeted snail-killing pesticides. Furthermore, the strategy of combining pull-down assays with optical imaging used in this work provides a novel approach for the exploration of mechanisms of other pesticide candidates.

This paper presents Management-Oriented Operating Systems (M2OS) that leverages the power of parallel intelligence theory, Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs) and foundation models to revolutionize the manner of management in Cyber-Physical-Social Systems (CPSS). The parallel architecture on M2OS is proposed, including the parallel interactive actual M2OS and artificial M2OS. Among them, the artificial M2OSs provide digital infrastructures for organizations to operate, collaborate, and make decisions in the virtual space, and conduct computational experiments to evaluate management decisions and predict future states of the actual M2OS. Through parallel execution and closed-loop feedback between the artificial and actual M2OSs, the management and control, experimentation and evaluation, as well as learning and training of the actual M2OS can be realized. Moreover, the functional layers of M2OS, including the infrastructure layer, data layer, scenario layer, modeling layer, decision layer, and application layer, are discussed. These layers work together to support the intelligent, autonomous, collaborative, and adaptive nature of the M2OS, and facilitate data-driven decision-making, optimize business operations, and empower managers with real-time actionable insights. The proposed M2OS paradigm has great potential to transform the management paradigm and opens up new possibilities for intelligent and collaborative decision-making. © 2023 IEEE.
