To achieve low joint-angle drift and avoid mutual collision between dual redundant manipulators (DRMs) when they are doing collaboration works, a recurrent neural network based bicriteria repetitive motion collision avoidance (BRMCA) scheme is proposed for motion planning of DRMs. By designing a combined optimization objective encompassing both repetitive motion criterion and collision avoidance criterion, the BRMCA scheme has larger feasible region and less constraint contradiction issues compared with traditional inequality constraints based method. Furthermore, by incorporating velocity-level kinematic model and physical limits of DRMs into the scheme, a time varying quadratic programming (TVQP) problem is formulated. The linear variational inequality-based primal–dual neural network (LVI-PDNN) is used to solve the proposed scheme due to the high accuracy and low computation complexity. Finally, through comparison simulations of tracking Circle-shape and C-shape trajectories between BRMCA scheme and minimum velocity norm (MVN) scheme, it exhibits that the proposed BRMCA scheme can achieve low joint-angle drift, collision avoidance and high tracking accuracy when DRMs are doing cooperative tasks. © 2025 IEEE.

In the past a few years, underwater acoustic networks have developed as a powerful technique used for variety of applications. Ad-Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is a popular and effective routing protocol, while it is not suitable for underwater usage due to the features of underwater acoustic channel such as low data rate, long delay, limited bandwidth and energy. In this paper, we propose an improved AODV based on implicit acknowledgement which employs broadcast features of nodes to overhear packets and retransmit those that fail to be transmitted. In addition, residual energy is considerded for energy balancing. Finally, the in-field experiment results shows that our proposed protocol can select the route with more residual energy for energy balancing. And our proposed protocol also outperforms AODV in terms of throughput and packet discovery ratio. So it is more suitable for underwater scenarios that require high transmission reliability. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

What Influences Intermodal Choices: Metro-Centric, Bus-Centric, Hybrid? Insights from Machine Learning Approaches

Three types of intermodals are defined: bus-centric, metro-centric, and hybrid, each representing combinations of bus, metro, and a mix of metro and bus with other travel modes for a trip, respectively. Using the household survey from Nanjing, China, comprising 162,191 trips, we applied the multiple models to reveal the nonlinear effects of socio-demographic and travel-related attributes on intermodal travel choices. Results show that bus-centric intermodal choice accounts for 65.82% of the total among the three types. The optimal model, random forest, indicates the relative importance of travel-related, individual, and household attributes, contributing 46.46%, 31.35%, and 22.18% respectively. Non-public transit travel time demonstrates an inverted V-shaped association with bus-centric intermodal choice, with a peak at around 5 minutes. Older individuals prefer bus-centric intermodal, while younger lean towards metro-centric and hybrid intermodal. Compared to car ownership and motorcycle ownership, bike ownership and E-bike ownership exhibit relatively high impact on intermodal travel choices. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Trajectory Planning and Cooperative control Strategies for Multi-Roller Automation in Pavement Construction

This paper presents a comprehensive methodology framework for achieving safe and efficient cooperative operations in multi-roller automation. Initially, conventional rollers are retrofitted with autonomous functionality, allowing them to automatically follow preset trajectories through a tracking control algorithm. We then introduce a trajectory planning method, tailored for multi-roller operations. Subsequently, a series of cooperative control strategies are outlined to determine the optimal timing for executing compaction tasks. Additionally, we introduce a cooperative control strategy for multi-roller operations, known as "Move Forward and Backward Together" (MFBT) control, which ensures the rollers initiate and cease movement without colliding. Finally, the proposed trajectory planning method and cooperative control strategies are validated through field tests conducted in Hebei Province, China. These tests include single-roller trials, two-roller-in-a-row experiments, and multi-roller cooperation tests. The average trajectory tracking error is maintained below 15 cm, and the effectiveness of the PDC control mode and MFBT control strategies is demonstrated. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, the contribution of surface effect to the anti-plane deformation of a magnetoelectroelastic medium weakened by a crack is investigated. The surface magnetoelectroelasticity is incorporated by using the extended surface/interface model of Gurtin and Murdoch. The mixed boundary value problem of the mode-III crack is formulated by using a continuous distribution of screw dislocations and the dislocations of electric potential and magnetic potential on the crack, and the problem is reduced to solving a system of coupled Cauchy singular integro-differential equations, which can be numerically solved by the decoupling and collocation methods. The results show that the stresses, electric displacements and magnetic induction near the crack tips exhibit the logarithmic singularity when the surface effect is considered. When there is no surface effect on the crack face, the classical square-root singularity of the near crack-tip fields can be observed. © 2024 IEEE.

The oil-immersed power transformer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and stable operation of the entire power system, highlighting the significance of enhancing the precision of its fire detection Aiming at the problems of difficulty in status sensing and inaccurate sensing results of traditional oil-immersed transformer status sensing models, a fire status sensing model for oil-immersed power transformers based on TOPSIS (Technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution) method and combination weighting of game theory is proposed in this paper. The model combines subjective weighting with objective weighting, while using game theory to determine the subjective and objective weight coefficients, eliminating human influence, and the TOPSIS method determines the final status sensing results. The test data of oil-imm supplied by a power company serves as the verification and analysis sample. This paper focuses on the oil-immersed power transformer, a key equipment in the power system, and carries out research on fire state sensing, which promotes the progress of state sensing technology and is of great significance to ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system and the normal life of residents, and providing early warning of potential fires, which holds significant practical implications in engineering. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, renewable energy has gained more attention, and an important research topic is how to integrate it safely and efficiently into the power system. This work focuses on the regulation intensity characteristics of large, complex hydropower systems in the controlled operation of hydro/wind/photovoltaic hybrid power generation systems. In this study, the second time-scale wind and solar power scenarios are generated based on the power spectral density. Then a nonlinear hydropower system model was introduced for numerical simulation. The Analytic Hierarchy Process is used to establish an evaluation system for the regulation intensity of hydropower plants. Finally, quantitatively analyze the influence of wind and solar volatility on the regulation intensity of hydropower plants. The results show that for every 1 % increase in wind and solar volatility, the regulation intensity of hydropower plants increases by 0.13% to 0.81%. © 2024 IEEE.

The design of tin-sprayed steel mesh is particularly important in the production of tin-sprayed steel mesh, which is the key to ensuring the function and quality of the tin-sprayed steel mesh. At present, the tin-sprayed steel mesh is still manually designed, and the design process is error-prone and inefficient. Therefore, a geometric cutting assistance system for tin-sprayed steel mesh of the combiner based on AutoCAD and ObjectARX was developed. The system adopts a parameterized design to realize the automatic operation of the steel mesh cutting process. First introduced the system development environment and composition architecture, and briefly explained the system interaction interface. Then it explains two key methods in the software system design and development process, including cutting quality control and finding the intersection of line segments. Finally, the actual case proves that the system greatly improves the efficiency and quality of steel mesh cutting. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
