Electrospun nanofibers(NFs)have shown excellent properties including high porosity,abundant active sites,controllable diameter,uniform and designable structure,high mechanical strength,and superior resistance to external destruction,which are ideal nanoreactors for in situ *** various techniques,in situ transmission electron microscopy(TEM)has enabled operando observation at the atomic level due to its high temporal and spatial resolution combined with excellent sensitivity,which is of great importance for rational materials design and performance *** this review,the basic knowledge of in situ TEM techniques and the advantages of electrospun nanoreactors for in situ TEM characterization are first *** recent development in electrospun nanoreactors for studying the physical properties,structural evolution,phase transition,and formation mechanisms of materials using in situ TEM is then *** electrochemical behaviors of carbon nanofibers(CNFs),metal/metal oxide NFs,and solidelectrolyte interphase for different rechargeable batteries are ***,challenges faced by electrospun nanoreactors for in situ TEM characterization are discussed and potential solutions are proposed to advance this field.

Dynamic Behavior Analysis of Journal Bearings Lubricated by Non-Newtonian Fluid During Start-Up

The dynamic behavior of journal bearing lubricated by non-Newtonian fluid (conforms to the Carreau model) during start-up is investigated. A mixed lubrication model consisting of a GT (Greenwood–Tripp) contact equation and a transient modified average Reynolds equation is proposed. The transient modified average Reynolds equation is established with the average flow method. The effect of non-Newtonian lubricant, surface roughness, external load, relative clearance, and accelerating time on the dynamic behavior of journal bearings during start-up is analyzed. The results show that increasing the relaxation time, external load, and relative clearance, as well as decreasing the power-law exponent, composite root-mean-square roughness, and accelerating time can reduce the contact time and facilitate the rapid formation of hydrodynamic lubrication during start-up.

For nonstationary processes working upon varying conditions, the conventional alarm thresholds such as 3sigma rules configured for one single operational zone often result in false and missed alarms. Besides, the interactions among process variables are also isolated. To address these issues, this paper proposes a novel dynamic multivariate alarm threshold optimization algorithm. Firstly, the process correlation variations can be identified by Toeplitz inverse covariance-based clustering method, pointing to the changes of operating conditions. Each condition is structural interpreted by a covariance inverse matrix of the multivariate Gaussian distribution, revealing similar within-time and cross-time variable interactions. Therefore, it provides a promising foundation to capture the conditional Gaussian distribution and design the corresponding thresholds of each variable, which finely covers the current normal operational zone. Then, offline threshold optimization and online strategy are developed and discussed in details, which can timely adapt to varying conditions, promoting accurate and sensitive alarming performance. Finally, the experimental results on a real thermal power plant show that the proposed threshold can ease operators from nuisance, thus improving the reliability of alarm system. © 2021 IEEE.

With the reduction of spectrum resources available in modern communication, higher requirements are put forward for the out of band suppression, frequency selection characteristics and signal-To-noise ratio of the filter. Based on the traditional stepped impedance resonator, a microstrip multifrequency filter based on open branch loaded stepped impedance resonator is designed and implemented in this paper. © 2022 IEEE.

Toppling failure of rock mass/soil slope is an important geological and environmental *** its failure mechanism under different conditions has great significance in *** toppling failure of a cutting slope occurred in a hydropower station in Kyushu,Japan illustrates that the joint characteristic played a significant role in the occurrence of rock slope tipping ***,in order to consider the mechanical properties of jointed rock mass and the influence of geometric conditions,a simplified analytical approach based on the limit equilibrium method for modeling the flexural toppling of cut rock slopes is proposed to consider the influence of the mechanical properties and geometry condition of jointed rock *** theoretical solution is compared with the numerical solution taking Kyushu Hydropower Station in Japan as one case,and it is found that the theoretical solution obtained by the simplified analysis method is consistent with the numerical analytical solution,thus verifying the accuracy of the simplified ***,the Goodman-Bray approach conventionally used in engineering practice is improved according to the analytical *** results show that the allowable slope angle may be obtained by the improved Goodman-Bray approach considering the joint spacing,the joint frictional angle and the tensile strength of rock mass together.

The most commonly used implementation of handwritten digit recognition based on convolutional neural networks requires equipment with high computing power, which is not suitable for edge devices. Recently, spiking neural network (SNN) has received more attentions due to its low power consumption and real-time performance, but training SNN is very difficult. As a special SNN, liquid state machine (LSM) has the advantages of simple structure and easy training, so it is very suitable for handwritten digit recognition on edge devices. But it has no advantage in recognition accuracy. In order to improve the performance of LSM, its reservoir needs to be optimized. In this paper, an efficient local optimization strategy is proposed, improving the recognition accuracy of LSM by 11.8% with less the training time. In order to reduce the runtime, auto-encoder and feature screening are used to compress the input handwritten digit image. After feature compression, the input storage is reduced by 57%, and the runtime is reduced by 30%. This work provides an effective way to realize handwritten digit recognition on the edge devices. © 2023 SPIE.

Remediation of 2,4-dichlorophenol-contaminated groundwater using nano-sized CaO_(2)in a two-dimensional scale tank

This study evaluates the applicability of nano-sized calcium peroxide(CaO_(2))as a source of H_(2)O_(2)to remediate 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)contaminated groundwater via the advanced oxidation process(AOP).First,the effect and mechanism of 2,4-DCP degradation by CaO_(2)at different Fe concentrations were studied(Fenton reaction).We found that at high Fe concentrations,2,4-DCP almost completely degrades via primarily the oxidation of·OH within 5 *** low Fe concentrations,the degradation rate of 2,4-DCP decreased *** main mechanism was the combined action of·OH and O_(2)^(·−).Without Fe,the 2,4-DCP degradation reached 13.6%in 213 h,primarily via the heterogeneous reaction on the surface of CaO_(2).Besides,2,4-DCP degradation was significantly affected by solution *** the solution pH was>10,the degradation was almost completely ***,we adopted a two-dimensional water tank experiment to study the remediation efficiency CaO_(2)on the water *** noticed that the degradation took place mainly in regions of pH<10(i.e.,CaO_(2)distribution area),both upstream and downstream of the *** 28 days of treatment,the average 2,4-DCP degradation level was≈36.5%.Given the inadequacy of the results,we recommend that groundwater remediation using nano CaO_(2):(1)a buffer solution should be added to retard the rapid increase in pH,and(2)the nano CaO_(2)should be injected copiously in batches to reduce CaO_(2)deposition.

Cluster modeling of the short-range correlation of acoustically emitted scattering signals

As a widely used measurement technique in rock mechanics,spatial correlation modeling of acoustic emission(AE)scattering signals is attracting increasing focus for describing mechanical behavior *** the statistical description of the spatial distribution of randomly generated AE signals,spatial correlation modeling is based mainly on short-range correlation considering the interrelationship of adjacent *** a new idea from percolation models,the covering strategy is used to build the most representative cube cluster,which corresponds to the critical scale at peak *** modeling process of critical cube cluster depends strongly on the full connection of the main fracture network,and the corresponding cube for coverage is termed the critical *** criticality pertains to not only the transition of local-to-whole connection of the fracture network but also the increasing-to-decreasing transition of the deviatoric stress with an obvious stress drop in the brittle failure of *** a reasonable critical cube guarantees the best observation scale for investigating the failure ***,the topological connection induces the geometric criticality of three descriptors,namely anisotropy,pore fraction,and specific surface area,which are evaluated separately and *** results show that cluster modeling based on the critical cube is effective and has criticality in both topology and geometry,as well as the triaxial ***,the critical cube length presents a high confidence probability of being correlated to the mineral particle ***,its pore fraction of cube cluster is influenced strongly by the critical cube length and confining pressure.

A method to suppress the torque pulsation of wind turbine propeller permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) is presented to solve the problem of large torque pulsation during operation of wind turbine propeller motor. First, the cause of the alveolar torque is analyzed, and the severity of the torque pulsation is quantitatively evaluated by the torque pulsation coefficient. Then the harmonic components of the torque pulsation are quantitatively analyzed from the angle of harmonics. Finally, select the appropriate slope for the wind power propeller permanent magnet synchronous motor. The experimental simulation shows that the strategy proposed in this paper can effectively reduce the motor torque pulsation. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
