Lattice Boltzmann simulation on thermal performance of composite phase change material based on Voronoi models

Phase change materials(PCMs)are important for sustaining energy *** the thermal performance enhancement,the composite PCM with metal foam reconstructed by the Voronoi method is investigated in this *** lattice Boltzmann method(LBM)is used to analyze the melting process on a pore *** melting interface evolution and temperature contour of the composite PCM are explored and compared with those of pure ***,structure parameters including the pore density,porosity and irregularity are investigated comprehensively,indicating that the additive of metal foam strengthens the melting performance of PCM *** with pure PCM,the composite PCM has quick rates of the melting front evolution and heat *** heat conduction plays a great role in the whole melting process since the convection is weakened for the composite *** improve the melting efficiency,a larger pore density and smaller irregularity are recommended in *** significantly,a suitable porosity is determined based on the requirement for the balance between the melting rate and heat storage capacity in practical engineering.

Background: China is a big country with a vast territory, in which gastropathy has become a common high-incidence disease in daily life. Gastroscopy is an important means of diagnosis of gastropathy, but the use of a gastroscope causes a lot of pain to patients. A cable-free, non-invasive and painless diagnosis and treatment tool, an active capsule endoscope robot, can solve this problem very well. Capsule robot has become a new development hotspot. Objective: The study aims to provide an overview of the active endoscope capsule robot and introduce its classification, characteristics and development. Methods: This paper summarizes various scientific research achievements of the active endoscope capsule robot. The structural characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of various active endoscope capsule robots are introduced. Results: The active endoscope capsule robot has been analyzed and compared to other models. Its typical characteristics have been summarized. The main problems in its development are analyzed, its development trend is prospected, and the research status and future of active endoscope capsule robot are discussed. Conclusion: The active capsule robot is classified into two categories: bionic and non-bionic. The analysis shows that the capsule robot is an effective and safe initiative and has a very broad application prospect for various gastrointestinal tests compared to gastroscope, and helps alleviate the pain of patients. © 2022 Bentham Science Publishers.

Mean square stability for Markov jump Boolean networks

In this paper, one of the stability definitions of Markov jump Boolean networks(MJBNs), called mean square stability(MSS), is investigated. Some necessary and sufficient conditions are presented to guarantee the MSS of such MJBNs. Moreover, one of the necessary and sufficient conditions for MSS is obtained in terms of linear programming, which implies that MSS is equivalent to global stability with probability 1 for MJBNs. Furthermore, the construction of Lyapunov function is given and also another theorem based on the Lyapunov function is derived to ensure the MSS of MJBNs. Finally, a numerical example is provided to illustrate the profits of our results.

Core-shell toughening particles are structured composite particles consisting of generally two different components, one at the center as a rubbery elastic core and surrounding by the second as a glassy inelastic shell. The design, preparation, and application of core-shell polymer particles have been briefly reviewed. Morphological characteristics of the core-shell particles by transmission electron microscopy(TEM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) are focused. The vital factors that are useful to control core-shell morphology and toughening properties including core-shell monomer species, polymerization conditions, cross-linking reagents, synthetic method, and post-processing techniques are analyzed. Distinguished properties are mainly considered as the most desirable features that endow core-shell polymer particles with various applicabilities, particularly as effectively toughening components in brittle epoxy resin and polylactide that are substrate of copper clad laminate widely used in the modern electronic world and environmentally friendly materials that are useful as packaging films, disposable tableware, biomedical equipment, and new energy vehicles.

Reinforcement Learning-Based Fault-Tolerant control of Uncertain Strict-Feedback Nonlinear Systems With Intermittent Actuator Faults

In this work, a novel reinforcement learning-based adaptive fault-tolerant control (FTC) scheme with actuator redundancy is presented for a nonlinear strict-feedback system with nonlinear dynamics and uncertainties. A learning-based switching function technique is established to steer different groups of actuators automatically and successively to mitigate the impact of faulty actuators by observing a switching performance index. The optimal tracking control problem (OTCP) of strict-feedback nonlinear systems is transformed into an equivalent optimal regulation problem of each affine subsystem via adaptive feedforward controllers. Subsequently, the designed objective functions associated with Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman (HJB) estimate errors caused by neural network (NN) approximations can be minimized by the reinforcement learning algorithm without value or policy iterations. It is proved that the tracking objective can be achieved and all signals in the closed-loop system can be guaranteed to be bounded, as long as the minimum time interval between two successive failures is bounded. Theoretical results are verified by simulations.

Insulator exposed to a wild environment for long-term running usually suffers from the damage of natural calamities that makes them become one of the most fragile components in the whole power system. In this case, even a slight fault will seriously affect the power supply safety of the power grid. Therefore, it is critical to find and identify the faulty insulator efficiently and accurately. However, an insulator is quite a small component in comparison with a huge power system which makes it hard to visible with naked eyes. This characteristic leads to poor recognition accuracy for existing detection methods. In order to solve the above problems, we propose an insulator defect detection algorithm based on an improved YOLOv4-tiny model. It differs from existing insulator detection models, our algorithm applies the effective channel attention network to the feature extraction network of YOLOv4-tiny, which significantly enhances the feature extraction ability of the backbone network. These two-way features of the pyramid can be fully fused in the two-way feature fusion stages seamlessly. Experimental results show that compared with, our proposed algorithm outperforms Faster RCNN and YOLOv3 in average classification accuracy, missed detection, and false detection. © 2022 IEEE.

Terahertz (THz) metasurfaces based on toroidal dipoles exhibit significant potential in biosensing applications. This study presents a polarization-insensitive THz metasurface biosensor designed with a fourfold rotationally symmetric toroidal dipole structure, consisting of a circular ring and four split-ring resonators. By exploiting the low-loss and polarization-insensitive properties of toroidal dipoles, the proposed sensor achieves significant electromagnetic field magnification and high sensitivity of biomolecular detection in the THz regime. Numerical simulation demonstrates a refractive index sensitivity of 721 GHz/RIU, while experimental measurements of cell suspensions indicate a sensitivity of 400 kHz/(cell/mL). The polarization-insensitive response, analyzed through multipole decomposition theory, is attributed to the balanced electromagnetic characteristics of the structure, which ensures consistent excitation of toroidal dipoles and magnetic quadrupoles across different polarization angles. For quantitative analysis, partial least squares (PLS) and support vector regression (SVR) methods are utilized to analyze liver cell lines (HepG2 and Miha), achieving high predictive accuracy with a mean squared error of 0.083. This work circumvents the polarization dependence observed in conventional THz biosensors and proposes an innovative approach for developing high-performance biosensing devices. © 2001-2012 IEEE.
