Borehole reinforcement based on polymer materials induced by liquid-gas phase transition in simulating lunar coring

Lunar core samples are the key materials for accurately assessing and developing lunar ***,the difficulty of maintaining borehole stability in the lunar coring process limits the depth of lunar ***,a strategy of using a reinforcement fluid that undergoes a phase transition spontaneously in a vacuum environment to reinforce the borehole is *** on this strategy,a reinforcement liquid suitable for a wide temperature range and a high vacuum environment was developed.A feasibility study on reinforcing the borehole with the reinforcement liquid was carried out,and it is found that the cohesion of the simulated lunar soil can be increased from 2 to 800 kPa after using the reinforcement ***,a series of coring experiments are conducted using a selfdeveloped high vacuum(vacuum degree of 5 Pa)and low-temperature(between-30 and 50℃)simulation *** is confirmed that the high-boiling-point reinforcement liquid pre-placed in the drill pipe can be released spontaneously during the drilling process and finally complete the reinforcement of the *** reinforcement effect of the borehole is better when the solute concentration is between0.15 and 0.25 g/mL.

Impact of aerosol-radiation interaction and heterogeneous chemistry on the winter decreasing PM_(2.5)and increasing O_(3)in Eastern China 2014–2020

In the context of the prevalent winter air quality issues in China marked by declining PM_(2.5)and rising O_(3),this study employed amodified WRF-Chem model to examine the aerosol radiation interaction(ARI),heterogeneous chemistry(AHC),and their combined impact(ALL)on the variations in O_(3)and PM_(2.5)during the 2014–2020 in eastern *** analysis confirmed that ARI curtailed O_(3)while elevating PM_(2.5).AHC reduced O_(3)through heterogeneous absorption of NOx and hydroxideswhile notably fostering fine-grained sulfate,resulting in a PM_(2.5)*** reductions mitigated the inhibitory impact of ARI on meteorological fields and photolysis *** reduction individually without aerosol feedback led to a 5.43 ppb O_(3)increase and a 22.89μg/m^(3)PM_(2.5)*** and AHC amplified the emission-reduction-induced(ERI)O_(3)rise by 1.83 and 0.31 ppb,*** response of ARI to emission diminution brought about a modest PM_(2.5)increase of 0.31μg/m^(3).Conversely,AHC,acting as the primary contributor,caused a noteworthy PM_(2.5)decrease of 4.60μg/m^(3).As efforts concentrate on reducing PM_(2.5),the promotion of ARI on PM_(2.5)counterbalanced the efficacy of emission reduction and the AHC-induced strengthening of PM_(2.5)*** ALL magnified the ERI O_(3)increase by 38.9%and PM_(2.5)decrease by 18.7%.Sensitivity experiments with different degrees of emission reduction demonstrated a consistent linear relationship between the ALL-induced enhancement of O_(3)increase and PM_(2.5)decrease to the ERI PM_(2.5)*** investigation revealed the complex connection between emissions and aerosol feedback in influencing air quality.

We proposed a Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) localization algorithm for Optical Frequency Domain Reflectometry (OFDR) sensing system with high density weak FBG array. The wavelength selection characteristics of FBG, which are revealed in the distance-wavelength domain spectrum of OFDR signal, are used as the standard for FBG localization. The OFDR system for FBG strain sensing using the proposed method achieved a strain sensing on 45.36 m long FBG array, which is capable of sensing strain up to 3000 μΕ, with spatial resolution of 1 cm, and root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.00192 nm. © 2025 SPIE.

With Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS) slowly but steadily nearing full-scale implementation, the question of their safety persists. Regardless of being a disruptive technology, they will likely be subject to the same factors shaping their safety performance as manned ships nowadays are. Yet, the impact of these factors may be different in each case. The current study presents an application of Fuzzy Grey Cognitive Maps (FGCMs) to the comparative evaluation of factors affecting collision avoidance at sea. To this end, subject matter experts have been elicited, and the data obtained from them have been analyzed, concerning how changes in the intensity of given factors would affect safety performance. The obtained results showed that with the use of FGCM, it was possible to model the relative impact of selected factors both on a specific phase of the maritime collision avoidance process as well as on its entirety. The conducted analysis shows noticeable variability of the influence of some factors, depending on the timing of their activation during the process (time dependence), and using FGCM, it was possible to assess its quantification. Furthermore, the results indicate that greater differences can be found between the factors’ impact on phases of an encounter than between manned and autonomous ships. The outcome of this study may be found interesting for all parties involved in maritime safety modeling as well as working on the forthcoming introduction of autonomous ships. © 1976-2012 IEEE.

Study on High-Temperature Performance of Graphene-Modified Guss Asphalt Mixture

Guss Asphalt Concrete is widely used in steel bridge deck paving projects. However, due to the relatively large deformation of steel bridge decks and the poor high-temperature stability of Guss Asphalt mixtures, the pavement layer is prone to damage during its service life. This study focuses on Guss Asphalt Concrete and utilizes graphene to modify the Guss Asphalt in order to improve its pavement performance. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) tests were conducted on graphene-modified asphalt, and high-temperature performance tests were performed on the asphalt mixture. The results showed that Graphene Oxide (GO), a layered nanomaterial with a large specific surface area and high surface energy, helps asphalt molecules adsorb onto the surface of graphene and form intercalated structures with asphalt molecules. The addition of GO slightly reduces the flowability of the asphalt mixture, increases the penetration and dynamic stability of the asphalt mixture, and improves the high-temperature stability of the Guss Asphalt mixture. In summary, the application of GO is beneficial for enhancing the high-temperature pavement performance of steel bridge deck paving. © 2025 Ernst & Sohn GmbH.

The paper presents a ship motion planning method that adjusts the attractive and repulsive gain parameters of the artificial potential field (APF) algorithm using the deep deterministic policy gradient (DDPG) algorithm, to address the challenges of parameter design and limited adaptability of traditional APF algorithms. This approach leverages the speed advantage of the APF planning algorithm and the exploration capability of the DDPG reinforcement learning algorithm. By optimizing the parameters of APF with DDPG, the local optima problem can be alleviated in complex obstacle environments. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed motion planning algorithm can generate reasonable trajectories and exhibit strong adaptability in complex obstacle scenarios. © Beijing Paike Culture Commu. The study of macroscopic discrete granular materials holds significance in hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering, as well as road and bridge engineering. Its foundational scientific exploration bears profound theoretical implications and is of pivotal practical value to engineering endeavors. Within the realm of engineering construction, issues such as dam breakages, earth-rock dam damage, and geological disasters involving loose particles pose substantial threats to the safety of both national livelihoods and property. Thus, delving into the examination of the structural stability of granular materials at the mesoscopic scale becomes an imperative pursuit. In this study, the topological structure of granular materials is identified and segmented based on image processing techniques, and the relationship between the compressive capacity of polygonal structures and the number of polygonal sides is studied. The redundancy function is defined to evaluate the structural stability of granular materials. In addition, the definition of structure tensor is introduced, and redundancy and structure tensor are applied to the study of biaxial compression of shale materials. The research results contribute to improving engineering safety and have guiding merits for the research and application of granular materials. Future work could focus on extending these methods to other types of granular materials and exploring their behavior under different loading conditions.

The "one-bill coverage" of China-Laos railway multimodal transport is an effective way to promote the growth of bilateral trade between China and Laos railways, and it is an inevitable requirement for the construction of a modern comprehensive transport system. In order to enhance the efficiency and economic benefits of cargo transport on China-Laos Railway, this paper combines the current situation of freight transport on China-Laos Railway and divides the life cycle of "one-bill coverage" of China-Laos Railway multimodal transport into five phases: order submission, domestic consolidation, cross-border transport, foreign evacuation and order signing, etc., and builds a "one-bill coverage" covering all the links, such as loading, transport, transshipment, warehousing, connecting, and customs clearance. This paper presents a train scheduling optimization method for tourism rail transit at the tactical level, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of operational planning in the context of dynamic changes in passenger demand. The proposed method considers passenger reservations and the synchronization of train services, establishing a model that minimizes the total transfer waiting time for passengers. This model provides an integrated optimization scheme for the stop plan and train timetable, ensuring that all passengers are transported. Realistic situations, such as train capacity limitations and passenger waiting time restrictions, are taken into account. We utilize the CPLEX solver to obtain the optimal solution for the proposed model. Experimental results indicate that, compared to the fixed operation plan that does not consider demand, our method improves both the quality of schedule formulation and the level of operational service.
