In this paper, we propose a simplified cubic polynomial R-D model with corresponding rate control methods for Versatile Video Coding (VVC) intra frame coding. First, we explore the rate-distortion (R-D) characteristics of VVC intra coding. By comparing several potential R-D modeling approaches, a new intra coding R-D model has been proposed based on the simplified cubic polynomial function. Subsequently, we derive the corresponding $R-\lambda$ model and introduce a complexity measurement to improve the performance of intra frame rate control. Furthermore, we propose a Coding Tree Unit (CTU)-level rate control method based on the newly proposed R-D model and further develop a pre-compression-based approach on this basis. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve 1.87% and 0.55% bit rate reduction for All-Intra (AI) and Random-Access (RA) configurations over the original rate control in VVC Test Model (VTM), while the computational complexity increment is negligible. Meanwhile, the enhanced bit rate accuracy from rate control has been observed in the proposed methods.

A novel learned modified perturbation backpropagation (L-MPBP) algorithm for high-symbol-rate (HSR) coherent optical transmission system is proposed in this paper. As an extension of perturbation backpropagation (PBP), L-MPBP utilizes deep neural network to adjust the position of nonlinear compensation (NLC) in each compensation step and jointly optimize the perturbation coefficients, which greatly improves the performance of nonlinear equalization in HSR transmission systems. The proposed approach is applied to compensate nonlinear signal distortions in a 90-GBaud, PDM16QAM coherent transmission system. The results show that the proposed L-MPBP achieves 1.75 dB effective SNR improvement compared with PBP while without inducing extra complexity. Our research indicates that the L-MPBP algorithm has great application potential for nonlinear compensation in HSR systems. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

After unconventional events occur, rapid emergency response is often needed in order to reduce losses. When there are more than one disaster points and more than one supply points, how to coordinate the local dispatch of emergency resources among these points is a problem worth studying. In this paper, we design a multi-objective, multi-point to multi-point and multi-resource emergency scheduling model that consider resources arrive time and transportation cost. Then a new emergency resource scheduling algorithm based on multi objective evolutionary algorithm based on decomposition (MOEA/D) is proposed, a new mutation operator was also designed to solve this problem. The experimental results show that this method can get a feasible scheduling scheme, which is faster than NSGA-II and has better scheduling results.

Gaussian Blur Aided Blind Phase Search Algorithm in Low Snr Qam Transmission System

Probabilistic constellation shaping (PCS) reduces the required SNR compared with the uniform distribution system to achieve the same mutual information (MI). However, severe amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) noise degenerates the performance of the conventional blind phase search (BPS) algorithm, showing an unpleasant MI penalty and reducing the shaping gain. In this paper, we reveal that the MI impairment comes from the misjudgment of phase noise estimation by the conventional BPS algorithm interfered by severe ASE noise. To cope with this problem, we propose a Gaussian blur-aided BPS (GBA-BPS) algorithm by introducing an unequal weight filter with an efficient solution of variance configuration into the conventional BPS. Details about why the GBA-BPS algorithm outperforms the conventional BPS algorithm are elaborated from the perspective of phase noise estimation error (PNEE) and frequency response. Evaluated on a 50-GBaud PCS-64QAM system, the proposed GBA-BPS algorithm with a 31-tap filter effectively mitigates the misjudgment of phase noise estimation, achieving a maximum MI gain of 0.5 and 0.25 bits/symbol compared with conventional BPS when the SNR is 16 dB and 18 dB respectively. The proposed GBA-BPS is a significant improvement over conventional BPS and is more suitable for carrier phase recovery in low SNR systems. © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Transformer-F: A Transformer network with effective methods for learning universal sentence representation

The Transformer model is widely used in natural language processing for sentence representation. However, the previous Transformer-based models focus on function words that have limited meaning in most cases and could merely extract high-level semantic abstraction features. In this paper, two approaches are introduced to improve the performance of Transformers. We calculated the attention score by multiplying the part-of-speech weight vector with the correlation coefficient, which helps extract the words with more practical meaning. The weight vector is obtained by the input text sequence based on the importance of the part-of-speech. Furthermore, we fuse the features of each layer to make the sentence representation results more comprehensive and accurate. In experiments, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our model Transformer-F on three standard text classification datasets. Experimental results show that our proposed model significantly boosts the performance of text classification as compared to the baseline model. Specifically, we obtain a 5.28% relative improvement over the vanilla Transformer on the simple tasks. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Existing routing algorithms in Flying Ad-Hoc Net- works (FANETs) lack the optimization consideration of destruction resistance cost caused by routing recovery when some nodes fail suddenly. In this paper, we propose a hybrid routing algorithm based on destruction resistance cost and reliability. Based on the real-time network topology and network state, the algorithm can provide a multi-parameters-based routing path with low destruction resistance cost for communication transmission. It can ensure that the main routing path can be quickly recovered after interruption and reduce the process of discovering new routing paths. We have constructed a variety of simulation scenarios to analyze the proposed algorithm and the existing algorithms. The simulation results show that the pro- posed algorithm has good performance in reducing destruction resistance cost. © 2021 IEEE.

Uplink channel estimation and signal extraction under malicious attack in massive MIMO system

This paper investigates correlative attack for the massive MIMO uplink. Malicious users (MUs) send jamming data sequences that are correlative to the data sequences of legitimate users (LUs) to a base station (BS). We consider the problem of channel estimation and signal extraction in the presence of correlative attacks. The right singular matrix of received signal at the BS is a function of the correlation between the legitimate and jamming data in large-scale antenna regime. As a result, correlative attacks degrade the performance of traditional channel estimation methods that base on eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) of the received signals. Then, we propose a signal extraction and channel estimation method to combat against correlative attacks. More precisely, geometric arguments, such as convex hull of extracted signals, are utilized for providing signal extraction and channel estimation criteria. For the optimization of these criteria, we develop an extractor which is able to capture convex hull of desired signals from noisy signals. Based on the proposed extractor, we formulate two optimization problems, whose global minima are solved to perform signal extraction and channel estimation. Experimental results show that when correlation coefficient is 0.6, the proposed method outperforms the EVD-based method more than 5 dB in the sense of normalized mean square error (NMSE). Improving Chinese Spelling Check by Character Pronunciation Prediction: The Effects of Adaptivity and Granularity

Chinese spelling check (CSC) is a fundamental NLP task that detects and corrects spelling errors in Chinese texts. As most of these spelling errors are caused by phonetic similarity, effectively modeling the pronunciation of Chinese characters is a key factor for CSC. In this paper, we consider introducing an auxiliary task of Chinese pronunciation prediction (CPP) to improve CSC, and, for the first time, systematically discuss the adaptivity and granularity of this auxiliary task. We propose SCOPE which builds on top of a shared encoder two parallel decoders, one for the primary CSC task and the other for a fine-grained auxiliary CPP task, with a novel adaptive weighting scheme to balance the two tasks. In addition, we design a delicate iterative correction strategy for further improvements during inference. Empirical evaluation shows that SCOPE achieves new state-of-the-art on three CSC benchmarks, demonstrating the effectiveness and superiority of the auxiliary CPP task. Comprehensive ablation studies further verify the positive effects of adaptivity and granularity of the task. Rate control (RC) plays a vital role in Versatile Video Coding (VVC) and video transmission. However, the RC algorithm in VVC remains the problem that the process of updating model parameters only considers the impact of the current encoding block content, without considering the similarity and reference value between different Coding Tree Units (CTUs) in the temporal domain. As a result, the coding performance is not optimal. To address this problem and further optimize the RC of VVC, this paper proposes an improved CTU-level rate control model parameter updating algorithm based on temporal domain motion intensity and we integrate this algorithm into VTM 1S.0. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm achieves better coding performance than anchor with 0.74% and 1.03% BD-rate saving under the Low Delay B (LDB) and Random Access (RA) configurations, respectively, while obtaining smaller bitrate error under common test conditions.

To solve the single point of failure (SPoF), we designed a distributed file system multilevel fault-tolerant high availability mechanism and implemented the multilevel fault-tolerant file system (MFTFS). At the same time, we proposed a multilevel-raft election algorithm to automatically solve the split-brain and master state switching problems. By introducing a hot-standby master and a cold-standby master cluster, it is possible to quickly recover from failures to achieve high system availability when the primary master fails. The hot-standby master maintains a strict consistency of metadata in memory with the primary master, which facilitates rapid failover and replaces the master node to provide external services. The cold-standby master cluster backs up the metadata in the hard disk of the hot-standby master. At the same time, it acts as a third party to judge the status of the primary/hot-standby master, when the primary/hot-standby master is missing, it elects a new master, to avoid split-brain problems. Experimental results show that our mechanism can maintain the strict consistency of metadata in the primary/hot-standby memory, while making the mean failure recovery time less than 2s, and has an excellent performance in solving single-point failure and split-brain problems.
