Stabilizing ordering instead of randomness in alloy semiconductor materials is a powerful means to change their physical properties. We used scanning tunneling and transmission electron microscopies to reveal the existence of an unrecognized ordering in ternary III-V materials. The lazarevicite short-range order, found in the shell of InAs1−xSbx nanowires, is driven by the strong Sb-Sb repulsion along 〈110〉 atomic chains during their incorporation on unreconstructed {110} sidewalls. Its spontaneous formation under group-III-rich conditions of growth offers the prospect to broaden the limited classes of ordered structures occurring in III-V semiconductor alloys.

Copper was a widely used catalyst for graphene synthesis by chemical vapor deposition (CVD), whose surface quality has great influence on the graphene quality. Electrochemical polishing was an important method of pre-treatment of the metal surface morphology. In this paper, we comprehensively discussed the relationship between process parameter of electrochemical polish with surface morphology and graphene quality. It was found that, compared with the graphene grown on the unpolished copper foil, the qualities of the graphene grown on the polished copper foil improved significantly. And, at certain current density range, the surface morphology is in direct ratio with the polishing voltage. Correspondingly the graphene has less defects, better monolayers, transmittance and conductivity.

A silver alloyed n-type bismuth telluride (Bi 2 Te 3 )thermoelectric (TE) bulk material with nano crystalline structure was studied and characterized in this paper. The Bi 2 Te 3 nanopowders used in this study were first fabricated viaa patented explosion based process. Then, the various concentrations of Ag nanoparticles (0-20 wt. %) were added into the Bi 2 Te 3 nanopowders in order to increase the electrical conductivity. Combining the benefits of high electrical conductivity (1.51×10 5 S·m -1 ) and low thermal conductivity (0.441 W·m -1 ·K -1 ), the dimensionless figure of merit (ZT value) of 1.48 for this n-type Bi 2 Te 3 TE material is achieved at 300 K temperature.

Multi-view video plus depth format includes several texture videos and corresponding depth maps. Depth maps play an important role in depth image based rendering (DIBR) and have similar edges with texture videos. Conventional coding methods have high complexity and long coding time because of ignoring the similarity between the depth and texture images. At the same time, it should be ensured that the quality of coding can not be declined. This paper proposes a fast mode decision algorithm for inter mode decision utilizing this characteristic of depth maps. By establishing a model which is named as joint mode complexity, each macro-block will have its own complexity. If the complexity is smaller than a certain value, this macro-block can adopt fast mode decision by skipping some unnecessary modes. The proposed method determines to skip some unnecessary modes in the macro-blocks which have low complexity before calculating rate-distortion cost in order to reduce the coding complexity. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method reduces 60.57% computational complexity of encoder with almost the same R-D performance. The time of coding is declined to a large degree along with the reducing of computational complexity.
