Image and video coding in block-based image coding can cause blocking artifacts, which severely degrade visual quality in the compressed sequences. Loop deblocking filter method can reduce these artifacts and improve the video objective and subjective quality obviously. In this paper, we propose an efficient deblocking filtering method for multiview video coding, which considers the color bleeding distortion. Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional deblocking algorithm in terms of PSNR and subjective visual quality when QP value is relatively high. ©2010 IEEE.

A new scheme of layered coding of stereoscopic video based on the correlation of motion vector fields (MV fields) is proposed in this paper, in which the bit streams robustness is improved to error channel and the coding efficiency is not reduced evidently. In our proposed scheme, the stereoscopic video is classified into one base layer and two enhancement layers. First, left-view video is encoded as Base Layer to ensure the basic quality of two-dimensional video. Then, the disparity vectors(DVs) of right-view video are encoded as Enhancement Layer *** lower bit rates further and reduce the network load, the strong correlation of the motion vectors(MVs) for two views video sequence are tested. Based on the correlation of MVs between views, the MVs of right-view are transmitted as Enhancement Layer 2 only if the correlation between left and right view is less than some threshold. Experimental results are demonstrated to testify the efficiency of our proposed scheme. ©2010 IEEE.

A compressed sensing（CS） based channel estimation algorithm is proposed by using the delay-Doppler sparsity of the fast fading channel.A compressive basis expansion channel model with sparsity in both time and frequency domains is *** pilots in accordance with a novel random pilot matrix in both time and frequency domains are sent to measure the delay-Doppler sparsity *** relatively nonzero channel coefficients are tracked by random pilots at a sampling rate significantly below the Nyquist *** sparsity channels are estimated from a very limited number of channel measurements by the basis pursuit *** proposed algorithm can effectively improve the channel estimation performance when the number of pilot symbols is reduced with improvement of throughput efficiency.

Multi-view image depth estimation for coding and view rendering synthesis

To measure the influence of depth estimation error on depth coding and virtual view rendering in a free-viewpoint television (FTV) system, a multi-view depth estimation is proposed to solve the problem for coding and view synthesis. Firstly, the consistency of initial depth is checked and the influence of initial miss-matches is minimized by introducing an additional adaptive matching error that penalizes the unreliable matches. Then according to specific criteria, the multi-reference depth maps are merged into one disparity map to improve the quality of disparity map. Finally, a multi-lateral filtering is used to preserve details in the depth map and simultaneously smooth the depths in occluded areas at object boundary, less texture and discontinuity regions. Experimental results show a significant improvement of the initial input depth maps and coding efficiency, as well as a reduction of view synthesis artifacts.

More and more attentions have been focused on the lighting source as it plays an important role to people's health. The light emitting efficiency of light emitting diode has been broken through year by year and now it has been surpassed that of the traditional lighting source. In order to improve the lighting quality by a lighting source with flexible color temperature, a data base is created with different color temperature by mixing different proportion luminous flux of red, green and blue light emitting diode based on theoretical calculations. The data base is embedded into the control program and it can run different proportion to realize light source variation with color temperature at different time. The experimental results show that the lighting source can realize correlated color temperature from 2300-7000 K, real color temperature is in accordance with that of theoretical calculation. Thus a sunlight-style lighting device is realized fundamentally.

Efficient compression of multi-view images and videos is an open and interesting research issue that has been attracting the attention of both academic and industrial world during the past several years. Multiview video plus depth (MVD) is a new 3D video format that would support 3D television (3DTV) and free viewpoint television (FTV). Depth-images are a 2D representation of the 3D scene surface and for 3DTV and FTV applications the depth information of MVD data is used for rendering virtual intermediate views of the scene. In this paper, we propose a novel coding scheme that is adapted to the special characteristics of depth-images, individual coding for color and depth data: the conventional multiview coding approach (MVC) is used for color videos and multidimensional multiscale parser (MMP) algorithm for depth maps coding. Experimental results show that the presented scheme achieves significant coding gains at high rate while compared with the joint multiview video model and Platelet depth coding. ©2010 IEEE.

The scalable video coding (SVC) standard adopts the variable size motion estimation (ME) to select the best coding mode for each macroblock (MB). Although this technique achieves the highest possible coding efficiency, it results in extremely large computation complexity which obstructs SVC from the practical application. In this paper, we propose an adaptive early termination of fast mode decision algorithm in SVC. It makes use of the coding information of spatial neighbor MBs and the corresponding MBs in base layer to early terminate the mode decision procedure. Experimental results show that the proposed fast mode decision algorithm can achieve computational saving up to 67% with no significant loss of rate distortion (RD) performance.

A high-linearity power amplifier (PA) for 2.4GHz Wireless-LAN transceiver is presented. The PA is designed and implemented using a 0.18um SiGe BiCMOS process. An on-chip adaptive linearizer is comprised of a base-emitter diode of the bias transistor and a bypass capacitor with almost no increase in die area and no extra dc consumption. Besides the linearization function, the active biasing circuit is also temperature-insensitive with simple structure. Including all matching circuits and biasing circuits, the die area of the fully integrated PA is 1.2mm*1.1mm. Temperature simulation indicates the variation of power gain is less than 1.6dB from 20°C to 80°C. The second-order and third-order IMD are less than -30.9dBc and -34.5dBc when the output P1dB has been reached. With 3.3V supply, the PA achieves max P1dB of 23.2dBm and a power added efficiency (PAE)of 21.3%.
