Salient object segmentation is an important technique for many content based applications. This paper presents an unsupervised salient object segmentation method under the graph cut optimization framework. First, we exploit a kernel density estimation based saliency model to generate the saliency map, which provides the useful cues for object segmentation. Then we exploit the saliency map to adaptively define the region cost term, the boundary cost term and their balancing weight in the cost function, which is minimized using graph cut to obtain a binary segmentation of salient objects. Experimental results on a variety of images demonstrate the better segmentation performance of our approach.

This paper proposes a nonparametric saliency model based on kernel density estimation (KDE) mainly aiming at content-based applications such as salient object segmentation. A set of KDE models are constructed on the basis of regions segmented using the mean shift algorithm. For each pixel, a set of color likelihood measures to all KDE models are calculated, and then the color saliency and spatial saliency of each KDE model are evaluated based on its color distinctiveness and spatial distribution. The final saliency map is generated by combining saliency measures of KDE models and color likelihood measures of pixels. Experimental results demonstrate the better saliency detection performance of our saliency model.

This paper presents the ASIC design and implementation of digital baseband system for UHF RFID reader based on EPC Global C1G2 /ISO 18000-6c protocol. The digital baseband system consists of two parts: transmitter and receiver, which inculing encoding module, decoding module, channel filers, CRC chenk module, control module and a SPI module. It is described in verilog HDL in RTL level, with Design Compiler for synthesizing, PT for static timing analyzing and Astro for physical design. The die is fabricated using IBM 130nm 8-layer-metal RF cmos process successfully, which size is 3 mm × 3mm, the power consumption is around 6.7mW. It can be applied in the research of single-chip UHF RFID reader.

The micro-pin-fins prepared on the back side of the power chip enable heat removal on the level of modern microsystem demands. Carbon nanotube (CNT) has been proven to be a potential material for micro-cooler because of its superior advantages including high thermal conductivity, good mechanical property and so forth. And there emerges various applications of CNT in the micro-cooler system. In the present paper, micro-pin-fin heat sink with gas impinging jet as the cooling medium is analyzed. The heat dissipation of forced air convection cooling with micro-pin-fin structures made of aligned carbon nanotube arrays has been taken into consideration. The three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation was carried out. The temperature distribution and the pressure drop are studied in the cases of various geometrical parameters of the micro-pin-fin heat sinks at the same heating power prescribed. The fluid flow and the heat transfer phenomena in the micro-pin-fins heat sinks are investigated. The heat removal efficiency of the air micro-cooler is evaluated. An array of 8×8 fins with the optimized fin-to-base length ratio achieves the best cooling effect.

In the CAN bus, mistakes in bit timing will lead to serious decline in bus performance. How to deal with the bit timing of CAN bus communication decided whether the CAN controller can receive or transmit data correctly. According to bus protocol, bit synchronization will fix bit errors resulting from improper setting in many cases. This paper illustrated the structure of nominal bit time and the principle of bit synchronization, gave an optimized method of nominal bit time of CAN2.0 protocol, that the four non-overlapping segments of traditional nominal bit time is simplified to 3 non-overlapping segments, and on this basis, proposed a design method of bit timing processor of CAN bus based on the synchronized state machine. It also provides programmable time segments to compensate for the propagation delay times and phase shifts, and gave simulation and verification of the design. The results show that the design work which obeys the CAN2.0 protocol, can more easily deal with the CAN bus communication bit timing, realized the control of CAN bus protocol on the bit timing and bit synchronization, and better optimizes the CAN network.
