Multi-modal sentiment recognition with residual gating network and emotion intensity attention

Multimodal emotion recognition focuses on the prediction of emotions using text, visual and acoustic modalities, and some results have been generated in this field. Previous approaches fall short in two aspects, one is the processing of complementary information among modalities, the other is how to avoid the long-term dependency and select the most important joint modal features. In this paper, we propose a new multimodal emotion recognition framework MSRG, which consists of feature extraction (FE), emotional intensity attention (EIA), time-step level fusion (TLF), utterance level fusion (ULF), and sentiment inference module (SIM). EIA is divided into adaptive multimodal linear pooling (AMLP) and joint cross-attention fusion (JCAF), where AMLP adopts the adaptive strategy of multimodal fusion to dynamically calculate the adaptive coefficients of three modalities, then performs the pooling operation to obtain joint modal features. JCAF calculates the attention weights and attention features of each modality based on cross-correlation between individual and joint features. TLF performs feature alignment fusion at the time-step level, then uses the residual gating network (RGN) to process the time-step level fused sequences. The obtained time-step level fused features are then input into two fully connected layers and an activation layer to obtain the time-step level emotion intensity. ULF fuses the three modalities’ utterance level representations by concatenating them and then inputs the obtained utterance level fused features into a fully connected layer to obtain the utterance level emotion intensity. Finally, both the time-step level emotion intensity and the utterance level emotion intensity are input into SIM to obtain the final emotion prediction results. Experiments demonstrate that MSRG achieves better prediction performance on CMU-MOSI and CMU-MOSEI datasets. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd

A Part-of-Speech Tagging Model Employing Word Clustering and Syntactic Parsing

Part-Of-Speech tagging is a basic task in the field of natural language processing. This paper builds a POS tagger based on improved Hidden Markov model, by employing word clustering and syntactic parsing model. Firstly, In order to overcome the defects of the classical HMM, Markov family model (MFM), a new statistical model was introduced. Secondly, to solve the problem of data sparseness, we propose a bottom-to-up hierarchical word clustering algorithm. Then we combine syntactic parsing with part-of-speech tagging. The Part-of-Speech tagging experiments show that the improved Part-Of-Speech tagging model has higher performance than Hidden Markov models (HMMs) under the same testing conditions, the precision is enhanced from 94.642% to 97.235%.

Group Emotion Recognition (GER) seeks to identify emotional states within multi-person groups. The complexity of the environment and the reliance on a single group emotion label often result in noisy individuals with inconsistent emotional expressions, hampering accurate emotion classification. Mainstream GER networks attempt to downweight noisy individuals, but when their numbers are high and over-relying on a single group label, the negative impact of noise on individuals remains significant, further complicating classification and diminishing accuracy. To address these limitations, we propose the Multi-Scale Contextual and Noise Suppression Model (MCon-NSM), a novel framework that enhances GER by capturing fine-grained interaction contexts and collaboratively suppressing noise at both the individual and group label levels. Extensive experiments on the GAF series datasets demonstrate that our method achieves results comparable to state-of-the-art techniques, validating its effectiveness in mitigating noise in GER. © 2025 IEEE.

Federated Graph Learning (FedGL) is an emerging Federated Learning (FL) framework that learns the graph data from various clients to train better Graph Neural Networks(GNNs) model. Owing to concerns regarding the security of such framework, numerous studies have attempted to execute backdoor attacks on FedGL, with a particular focus on distributed backdoor attacks. However, all existing methods posting distributed backdoor attack on FedGL only focus on injecting distributed backdoor triggers into the training data of each malicious client, which will cause model performance degradation on original task and is not always effective when confronted with robust federated learning defense algorithms, leading to low success rate of attack. What's more, the backdoor signals introduced by the malicious clients may be smoothed out by other clean signals from the honest clients, which potentially undermining the performance of the *** address the above significant shortcomings, we propose a non-intrusive graph distributed backdoor attack(NI-GDBA) that does not require backdoor triggers to be injected in the training data. Our attack trains an adaptive perturbation trigger generator model for each malicious client to learn the natural backdoor from the GNN model downloading from the server with the malicious client's local data. In contrast to traditional distributed backdoor attacks on FedGL via trigger injection in training data, our attack on different datasets such as Molecules and Bioinformatics have higher attack success rate, stronger persistence and stealth, and has no negative impact on the performance of the global GNN model. We also explore the robustness of NI-GDBA under different defense strategies, and based on our extensive experimental studies, we show that our attack method is robust to current federated learning defense methods, thus it is necessary to consider non-intrusive distributed backdoor attacks on FedGL as a novel threat that requires custom de

The Broad Learning System (BLS) has been extensively developed and applied across various fields due to its significant advantages, including high efficiency, strong generality, and scalability. However, in practical applications where both inputs and outputs are contaminated by noise, traditional BLS demonstrates suboptimal performance in handling sample data. This study introduces a novel regularized total least squares broad learning system (RTLS-BLS) designed to enhance the robustness of BLS when noisy values are present in both the input and the output of the training set. Initially, the k-support norm is integrated into the BLS-based autoencoder (BLS-AE), embedded within BLS, to extract robust features from the original input data. The BLS-AE equipped with the k-support norm effectively addresses or mitigates issues related to overly sparse (based on L1-norm) or overly dense (based on L2-norm) regularization of extracted features. Subsequently, regularized total least squares (RTLS) are employed to assess the output weights of BLS, further enhancing its robustness. Moreover, simultaneous perturbation measures for the coefficient matrix and the output are provided. Experimental results from two function approximation tasks, eight benchmark regression tasks, and two network interface flow datasets demonstrate that the proposed RTLS-BLS achieves significantly robust performance under noisy conditions compared to other methods. © 2025 Codon Publications. MSMAE-Net: multi-semantic and multi-attention enhanced network for image forgery localization

The popularization of modern digital image technology has brought convenience to us, but it also poses many risks. The advancement of image editing software allows anyone to modify image content effortlessly. If these modified images are abused, they can severely impact societal safety and stability. To address these risks, we propose an end-to-end multi-scale collaborative enhancement image forgery localization network, termed MSMAE-Net. The method first employs a multi-branch feature extractor to initially capture both global and local information, with each branch optimized for different contextual information and features of the image. Next, to enhance the model’s ability to capture forged traces at various levels while maintaining the correlation between different spatial hierarchies, a boundary information aggregation module is designed. By constructing multiple branches with different receptive fields and collaborative learning with each other, a nested collaborative enhancement branch is designed to make the backbone network pay more attention to key features, so as to obtain better feature representation capability. Furthermore, to further fuse different semantic information, a novel strongly compatible semantic attention fusion module is proposed in this paper. Finally, an attention enhancement module is introduced in the localization of forgery regions to adaptively concentrate on key forged areas in the image and effectively capture the relationships between different pixels. In the experiments, we demonstrate that MSMAE-Net exhibits significant advantages in both localization accuracy and robustness in complex forgery scenarios when compared to other SOTA image forgery detection methods.
