High-accuracy waterline mapping with Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is a challenging task because of the inhomogeneities of SAR imagery caused by the speckle noise and complex terrain. This paper presents a novel method for waterline mapping with subpixel accuracy. The proposed method mainly consists of three steps. Firstly, an improved Non-Local filter is adapted to suppress the speckle noise. Secondly, a Fuzzy C-Means (FCM) clustering algorithm is used to extract the pixel-level waterline. Thirdly, along the pixel-level waterline, a novel subpixel-scale waterline extraction method based on bicubic convolution and Geometric Active Contour (GAC) model is presented to further improve the accuracy of the waterline. Without loss of generality, the Danjiangkou reservoir (DJKR), which is the largest artificial freshwater lake in Asia, is selected as a study case. SAR images from Chinese GaoFen-3 (GF-3) satellite working on different modes are processed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2019 IEEE.

Multiobjective sparse reconstruction (MOSR) methods can potentially obtain superior reconstruction performance. However, they suffer from high computational cost, especially in high-dimensional reconstruction. Furthermore, they are generally implemented independently without reusing prior knowledge from past experiences, leading to unnecessary computational consumption due to the re-exploration of similar search spaces. To address these problems, we propose a sparse-constraint knowledge transfer operator to accelerate the convergence of MOSR solvers by reusing the knowledge from past problem-solving experiences. Firstly, we introduce the deep nonlinear feature coding method to extract the feature mapping between the search of the current problem and a previously solved MOSR problem. Through this mapping, we learn a set of knowledge-induced solutions which contain the search experience of the past problem. Thereafter, we develop and apply a sparse-constraint strategy to refine these learned solutions to guarantee their sparse characteristics. Finally, we inject the refined solutions into the iteration of the current problem to facilitate the convergence. To validate the efficiency of the proposed operator, comprehensive studies on extensive simulated signal reconstruction are conducted. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

The phenomenon of electromagnetic induced transparency (EIT) based on graphene in microwave band has seldom been studied due to its shortcomings in frequency modulation in this band. However, based on the excellent tunability of graphene, EIT with adjustable amplitude in microwave frequency band is still applicable. In this letter, a tunable EIT structure based on graphene in microwave band has been proposed, which has a transparent window at 1.6 GHz with a tunable transparency from about 40% to 85% adjusting the sheet resistance of graphene. The result shows that, the proposed structure has excellent adjustability and switching characteristics. © 2019 Antenna Branch of Chinese Institute of Electronics.

A rapidly growing social interaction technology is the use of Quick Response (QR) codes as physical entrances (i.e. the encoded URL address) to Internet resources. However, there exist various kind of security problems, for example, the URL may point to some phishing web sites. A digital certificate based signature and verification QR code is proposed in this paper. The public and private keys are generated by the authentication mechanism, which using the Public key Infrastructure (PKI) technology. The public key can be published with the designed scanning application (App). An authenticated QR code can be created based on the private key and the merchant information. Clients can authenticate the codes by the public key and scanning App. Test results prove that the security QR code designed by this system, which binds the digital certificate, can be verified by the decoding scanner. © 2018, Springer International Publishing AG.

This paper introduces China＇s New Third Board Market（the NTB market） and tests the market-making system in the role of improving market liquidity. The NTB Market is the main part of China＇s OTC market, established in 2006. In comparing with China＇s Main Board Market and the Second Board Market, it attracts a lot of start-up companies that need financing with less strict listing requirements. Meanwhile, it is full of opportunities and challenges that appeal to numerous securities traders and investors with the rapid development momentum. Since its establishment, the NTB Market has been stuck in the lack of liquidity. The authority of the NTB Market introduced market maker system, so as to solve the problem of liquidity. Using the difference-in-difference method（DID method）, the market maker system has been proved to make little contribution to improving the stock liquidity. Although the problem of liquidity is difficult to solve in short term, the NTB Market is full of opportunities for all kinds of participants definitely.

A systematic theoretical study on FeOx-supported single-atom catalysts： M1/FeOx for CO oxidation

A single-atom catalyst （SAC） that was first proposed by us in 2011 has aroused significant recent interest. Among the various SACs, FeOx-based ones including Pt1/FeOx, Ir1/FeOx, Au1/FeOx, Ni1/FeOx, and Fe1/FeOx have been investigated either experimentally or theoretically for CO oxidation. However, a systematic study of FeO,-based SACs has not been conducted. For a comprehensive understanding of FeOx-supported single-metal-atom catalysts, extensive density functional theory calculations were carried out on the activities and catalytic mechanisms of SACs with the 3d, 4d, and 5d metals of group VIII to IB, i.e., M1/FeOx （M = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu; Ru, Rh, Pd, Ag; Os, Ir, Pt, Au） for CO oxidation. Remarkably, a new noble metal SAC, Pd1/FeOx, with high activity in CO oxidation was found and is predicted to be even better than the previously reported Pt1/FeOx and Ni1/FeOx. In comparison, other M1/FeOx SACs （M = Fe, Co, Cu; Ru, Rh, Ag; Os, Ir, Au） showed only low activities in CO oxidation. Moreover, the adsorption strength of CO on the single-atom active sites was found to be the key in determining the catalytic activity of these SACs for CO oxidation, because it governs the recoverability of oxygen vacancies on their surfaces in the formation of a second CO2 during CO oxidation. Our systematic studies of FeOx-supported SACs will help in understanding the fundamental mechanisms of the interactions between singly dispersed surface metal atoms and FeOx substrate and in designing highly active FeOx-supported SACs.

Unbalanced incomplete multi-view clustering via the scheme of view evolution: Weak views are meat;strong views do eat

Incomplete multi-view clustering is an important technique to deal with real-world incomplete multi-view data. Previous methods assume that all views have the same incompleteness, i.e., balanced incompleteness. However, different views often have distinct incompleteness, i.e., unbalanced incompleteness, which results in strong views (low-incompleteness views) and weak views (high-incompleteness views). The unbalanced incompleteness prevents us from directly using previous methods. In this paper, inspired by the effective biological evolution theory, we design the novel scheme of view evolution to cluster strong and weak views. Moreover, we propose an Unbalanced Incomplete Multi-view Clustering method (UIMC), which is the first effective method based on view evolution for unbalanced incomplete multi-view clustering. Compared with previous methods, UIMC has two unique advantages: 1) it proposes weighted multi-view subspace clustering to integrate unbalanced incomplete views, which effectively solves the unbalanced incomplete multi-view clustering problem;2) it designs the low-rank representation to recover the data, which diminishes the impact of the incompleteness and noises. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that UIMC improves the clustering performance by up to 40% on three evaluation metrics over other state-of-the-art methods. Earthquake forecasting is a challenging task aiming to predict the occurrence of a large destructive earthquake in the short term, e.g., within days or months. With the advent of artificial intelligence (AI), this long-term, seemingly intractable problem has become surprisingly solvable, thanks to the acoustic electromagnetic to AI (AETA) initiative launched in the past decade. The AETA program designs two anomaly-sensitive sensors, electromagnetic and geo-acoustic sensors, to continuously record the signals, hoping to extract the weak precursor signals for forecasting future earthquakes. To make the problem more well-defined, many physics-based features are first calculated and extracted from the continuous data as the input for a machine-learning-based classifier to predict whether an earthquake will occur in a certain period of time in the near future. The assumption is that the extracted features bear the precursory anomalies related to the physical stress or electromagnetism changes, thereby facilitating a regressional classifier learned from historical measurements and the ground-truth earthquake occurrence labels. The dataset from a four-year recording experiment is carefully prepared as a benchmark dataset for AI studies. Earthquake forecasting enthusiasts and AI experts are encouraged to design advanced AI models for predicting earthquakes, which will hopefully lead to a tremendous breakthrough in this research track.

Turbulent lithosphere deformation in the Tibetan Plateau

In this work, we show that the Tibetan Plateau deformation demonstrates turbulence-like statistics, e.g., spatial invariance across continuous scales. A dual-power-law behavior is evident to show the existence of two possible conservation laws for the enstrophy-like cascade in the range 500≲r≲2000km and kinetic-energy-like cascade in the range 50≲r≲500km. The measured second-order structure-function scaling exponents ζ(2) are similar to their counterparts in the Fourier scaling exponents observed in the atmosphere, where in the latter case the earth's rotation is relevant. The turbulent statistics observed here for nearly zero-Reynolds-number flow can be interpreted by the geostrophic turbulence theory. Moreover, the intermittency correction is recognized with an intensity close to that of the hydrodynamic turbulence of high-Reynolds-number turbulent flows, implying a universal scaling feature of very different turbulent flows. Our results not only shed new light on the debate regarding the mechanism of the Tibetan Plateau deformation but also lead to new challenges for the geodynamic modeling using Newton or non-Newtonian models because the observed turbulence-like features have to be taken into account.
