Generative Classifier for Domain Generalization

Domain generalization (DG) aims to improve the generalizability of computer vision models toward distribution shifts. The mainstream DG methods predominantly focus on learning domain invariance across domains, however, such methods overlook the untapped potential inherent in domain-specific information. While the prevailing practice of discriminative linear classifier has been tailored to domain-invariant features, it struggles when confronted with diverse domain-specific information, e.g., intra-class shifts, that exhibits multi-modality. To address these issues, we explore the theoretical implications of relying on domain-invariant features, revealing the crucial role of domain-specific information in mitigating the target risk for DG. Drawing from these insights, we propose Generative Classifier-driven Domain Generalization (GCDG), introducing a generative paradigm for the DG classifier based on Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) for each class across domains. GCDG consists of three key modules: Heterogeneity Learning Classifier (HLC), Spurious Correlation Blocking (SCB), and Diverse Component Balancing (DCB). Concretely, HLC attempts to model the feature distributions and thereby capture valuable domain-specific information via GMMs. SCB identifies the neural units containing spurious correlations and perturbs them, mitigating the risk of HLC learning irrelevant spurious patterns. Meanwhile, DCB ensures a balanced contribution of components within HLC, preventing the underestimation or neglect of critical components. In this way, GCDG excels in capturing the nuances of domain-specific information characterized by diverse distributions. GCDG demonstrates the potential to reduce the target risk and encourage flat minima, improving the model’s generalizability. NSPG-Miner: Mining Repetitive Negative Sequential Patterns

Sequential pattern mining (SPM) with gap constraints (or repetitive SPM or tandem repeat discovery in bioinformatics) can find frequent repetitive subsequences satisfying gap constraints, which are called positive sequential patterns with gap constraints (PSPGs). However, classical SPM with gap constraints cannot find the frequent missing items in the PSPGs. To tackle this issue, this paper explores negative sequential patterns with gap constraints (NSPGs). We propose an efficient NSPG-Miner algorithm that can mine both frequent PSPGs and NSPGs simultaneously. To effectively reduce candidate patterns, we propose a pattern join strategy with negative patterns which can generate both positive and negative candidate patterns at the same time. To calculate the support (frequency of occurrence) of a pattern in each sequence, we explore a NegPair algorithm that employs a key-value pair array structure to deal with the gap constraints and the negative items simultaneously and can avoid redundant rescanning of the original sequence, thus improving the efficiency of the algorithm. To report the performance of NSPG-Miner, 11 competitive algorithms and 11 datasets are employed. The experimental results not only validate the effectiveness of the strategies adopted by NSPG-Miner, but also verify that NSPG-Miner can discover more valuable information than the state-ofthe-art algorithms. Transition videos play a crucial role in media production, enhancing the flow and coherence of visual narratives. Traditional methods like morphing often lack artistic appeal and require specialized skills, limiting their effectiveness. Recent advances in diffusion model-based video generation offer new possibilities for creating transitions but face challenges such as poor inter-frame relationship modeling and abrupt content changes. We propose a novel training-free Transition Video Generation (TVG) approach using video-level diffusion models that addresses these limitations without additional training. Our method leverages Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) to model latent representations, ensuring smooth and dynamic transitions between frames. Additionally, we introduce interpolation-based conditional controls and a Frequency-aware Bidirectional Fusion (FBiF) architecture to enhance temporal control and transition reliability. Evaluations of benchmark datasets and custom image pairs demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in generating high-quality smooth transition videos. The Bayesian network (BN) model, as a big data graph model that integrates causal inference and probabilistic representation, has received widespread attention and research in both academia and industry. However, with the advent of the big data era, traditional BN structure learning algorithms have encountered unprecedented challenges in processing high-dimensional data, mainly manifested as a sharp increase in computational complexity and difficulty in achieving ideal accuracy requirements within an acceptable time range, which greatly limits their breadth and depth in practical applications. In response to this bottleneck problem, this article innovatively proposes a new approach that combines width learning theory with BN, referred to as Broad Bayesian Neural Network (Broad-BNN). This model effectively reduces the dimensionality of the original high-dimensional data by introducing a feature mapping layer and gradually expanding it, while achieving non-linear transformation of information and effective feature extraction. The experimental results show that the model proposed in this paper has achieved significant performance improvement in high-dimensional data classification problems, not only accelerating training speed but also significantly improving classification accuracy, providing a new perspective and solution for solving the difficulties of high-dimensional data processing. © 2025 Kuo Li et al., published by Sciendo.

Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites can be used to assist maritime wireless communications for data transmission across wide-ranging areas. However, extensive coverage of LEO satellites, combined with openness of channels, can cause the communication process to suffer from security risks. This paper presents a low-altitude friendly-jamming LEO satellite-maritime communication system enabled by a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to ensure data security at the physical layer. Since such a system requires trade-off policies that balance the secrecy rate and energy consumption of the UAV to meet evolving scenario demands, we formulate a secure satellite-maritime communication multi-objective optimization problem (SSMCMOP). In order to solve the dynamic and long-term optimization problem, we reformulate it into a Markov decision process. We then propose a transformer-enhanced soft actor critic (TransSAC) algorithm, which is a generative artificial intelligence-enable deep reinforcement learning approach to solve the reformulated problem, so that capturing global dependencies and diversely exploring weights. Simulation results demonstrate that the TransSAC outperforms various baselines, and achieves an optimal secrecy rate while effectively minimizing the energy consumption of the UAV. Classic4Children: Adapting Chinese Literary Classics for Children with Large Language Model

Chinese literary classics hold significant cultural and educational value, offering deep insights into morality, history, and human nature. These works often include classical Chinese and complex narratives, making them difficult for children to read. To bridge this gap, we introduce a child-friendly literary adaptation (CLA) task to adapt the Chinese literary classic into engaging and accessible text for children. However, recent large language models (LLMs) overlook children’s reading preferences (i.e., vivid character portrayals, concise narrative structures, and appropriate readability), which poses challenges in CLA. In this paper, we propose a method called InstructChild, which augments the LLM with these preferences for adaptation. Specifically, we first obtain the characters’ personalities and narrative structure as additional information for fine-grained instruction tuning. Then, we devise a readability metric as the reward to align the LLM with the children’s reading level. Finally, a lookahead decoding strategy is applied to improve the readability of the generated text during inference. To support the evaluation of CLA task, we construct the Classic4Children dataset, which comprises both the original and child-friendly versions of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. Satisfiability Modulo Linear Integer Arithmetic, SMT(LIA) for short, is pivotal across various critical domains. Previous research has primarily focused on SMT solving techniques. However, in practical applications such as software and hardware testing, there is a need to generate a diverse set of solutions for use as test inputs. We have developed the first sampling framework that integrates local search with CDCL(T) techniques, named HighDiv, capable of generating a highly diverse set of solutions for constraints under linear integer theory. Initially, in the local search phase, we introduced a novel operator called boundary-aware movement. This operator performs random moves by considering the current state’s constraints on variables, thereby enhancing the diversity of variables during the search process. Furthermore, we have conducted an in-depth study of the preprocessing and variable initialization mechanisms within the framework, which significantly enhances the efficiency of subsequent local searches. Lastly, we use the solutions obtained from local search sampling as additional constraints to further explore the solution space using the stochastic CDCL(T) method. Experimental results demonstrate that HighDiv generates solutions with greater diversity compared to the state-of-the-art SMT(LIA) sampling tool, MeGASampler. Copyright © 2025, The Authors. Emotion recognition in conversation (ERC) aims at accurately identifying emotional states expressed in conversational content. Existing ERC methods, although relying on semantic understanding, often encounter challenges when confronted with incomplete or misleading semantic information. In addition, when dealing with the interaction between emotional and semantic information, existing methods are often difficult to effectively distinguish the complex relationship between the two, which affects the accuracy of emotion recognition. To address the problems of semantic misdirection and emotional cross-talk encountered by traditional models when confronted with complex conversational data, we propose a semantic and emotional dual channel (SEDC) strategy for emotion recognition in conversations to process emotional and semantic information independently. Under this strategy, emotion information provides an auxiliary recognition function when the semantics are unclear or lacking, enhancing the accuracy of the model. Our model consists of two modules: the emotion processing module accurately captures the emotional features of each utterance through contrastive learning, and then constructs a dialogue emotion propagation map to simulate the emotional information conveyed in the dialogue;the semantic processing module combines an external knowledge base to enhance the semantic expression of the dialogue through knowledge enhancement strategies. This divide-and-conquer approach allows us to more deeply analyze the emotional and semantic dimensions of complex dialogues. Experimental results on the IEMOCAP, EmoryNLP, MELD, and DailyDialog datasets show that our approach significantly outperforms existing techniques and effectively improves the accuracy of dialogue emotion recognition. In the current information age, covert communication holds significant value owing to its advantages, such as heightened security, enhanced flexibility, and improved concealment, surpassing those of traditional communication methods. However, existing covert communication approaches approximate communication channel models by Line-of-Sight (LoS) links, which is insufficient due to neglecting the impact of multipath effects and applying inaccurate performance assessments. To better adapt to real-world communication channel conditions, we propose a novel covert communication model assisted by Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) equipped with Multi-Functional Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (MF-RIS), named UMCCM. Specifically, based on a mixed link of LoS and Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS), UMCCM leverages MF-RIS as a flexible relay to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and effective throughput. We first derive the mixed channel model expression. Then, we transform covert constraints from incomplete gamma functions to those linked with relative entropy and accordingly optimize the UAV transmission power and block length. Finally, the optimal flying position of the UAV is obtained by analyzing the functional properties of SNR and effective throughput under these refined constraints. Extensive numerical results demonstrate the superiority of our proposed UMCCM for enhancing SNR and effective throughput over the existing works. © 2025 IEEE.
